Financial results for year ending 30 June 2013
Unbelievable Jeff replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
From a financial point of view, the figures really don't look bad. I think the quotes were said to make negative headlines, but to show up Cortese. Seriously, the results are fine, and will look brilliant next year with the increased revenue. -
I think it's safe to say he was nudged. He was a decent chairman but obviously didn't have the grip we believed he had. He still saw us up to the Premiership, along with Adkins. I would actually say he is the Chairman equivalent of Adkins, and was, in essence replaceable.

I agree. This is what should happen.

Luke Shaw is the best left-back in the world

That, sir, is genius. -

He's not better than Baines, no. -

He's not, and it's being said to try and up his price in the Summer. Worth saying imo. -
This has been a bad couple of weeks for a couple of posters.

Luke Shaw - PFA Young Player of the Year?
Unbelievable Jeff replied to Bakovnetski's topic in The Saints
Suarez will win the main prize, that's for sure. -
Sunseeker.

Another comedy thread from GS, in his usual contradictory style! Glasgow_Saint - The gift that keeps giving.

Simon Peach @SimonPeach 50s Krueger told me finishing training ground was "priority one" & looking at expanding/improving St Mary's second behind that.

Shaw will go in the Summer, will get a massive payday (and fairplay to him), we will get £30m plus any money for Osvaldo, plus potentially a bit more put in by the board meaning we'll have £50m odd to spend on strengthening the squad. I for one will be happy with that. Any news on how Matty Targett is getting on as he was meant to be pretty mustard at one point.

He's done a very good job (although not much better than Moyes did last season), but he has some excellent players to call upon. A mix between our team and theirs would easily be a Champions League team...but neither are at the moment.

One win against top 10 sides ALL SEASON
Unbelievable Jeff replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
So what I gather is the best we could achieve is 6th, but you're never happy with 2nd best, so you think we should be finishing top of the league? -

Because he spends all day on here? -
At this stage of the season, with the interest in our players and manager, I actually see it as a good thing. We will still finish in and around 8th or 9th, and the chance is we will keep some of the players that really are important to the way we play (Lovren, Schneiderlin, Lallana) and perhaps even the manager. If we can drift off to the end of the season, this may do us well ready for next season.

I disagree, if people are resonsible enough to save then they are responsible enough to use the money they wish. I know I would much prefer to look after my own money than having to buy an annuity. More people are likely to save as well.

£300k per annum or something like that. I expect Sunseeker, and this is where the links to Dalian Wanda group came from in relation to buying the club (they were just in negotiations to become the main sponsor). Be a very cool sponsor if true.

Liverpool wins and Southampton loses
Unbelievable Jeff replied to Barry Sanchez's topic in The Lounge
Visited both, if I was going to live anywhere I would choose the New Forest, or area between Soton and Winchester compared to areas around Liverpool. Liverpool is alright though. Just would prefer Southampton. -
