  1. But that's what he was saying, there is already a scouting network looking at Managers for this sort of situation. Don't forget that until the manager leaves you aren't going to start sounding out the club you are getting the new coach from, and then after he leaves you are likely to get applications. For instance what happens if they quickly appoint a manager as soon as Pochettino leaves and then 24 hours later someone better or more suited applies for the job?
  2. It sounds far better than him saying 'Yeah, it was really disappointing, I wish he was still here'.
  3. Yep, that makes me more positive we won't be going for Mackay/Hughton type manager, but one that has been researched for his ability to play attractive, attacking footbal and to integrate young players into the first team.
  4. One thing to notice about Ralph is that he does no dwell on the negative and does not allow his words to denegrate the club or make it look weak. The fact that he wouldn't use the word 'disappointing' even though it categorically is. Fair play, was quite impressed with that snippet above.
  5. How much did we spend last Summer? £38m? About half based on that. But also take into account there was less moneyfor the Sky deal last Summer so that amount was a much higher percentage of the companies turnover.
  6. Also don't forget to mention that he said we are inundated with agents trying to get their players here and that it sounds like there is a contingency plan in place for if the Manager was to leave, so I would take from this that we have a number of managers that we have identified that could do the job. It will now be a case of taking these, looking at who else is applying, and creating a shortlist from this.
  7. What makes you think it was more important?????? What an odd conclusion to come to.
  8. The point is without player sales they manager will get a decent budget, even if it's not as much as Pochettino got. With player sales they are likely to get more. It's sustainable due to the new Sky deal. £20m to spend is a sustainable amount.
  9. What did he say? We all know Shaw is off. Lallana is dependant on the offer being good enough from Liverpool.
  10. £20m. They will probably get all the Shaw money as well.
  11. This is a very good job to have, as although we won't be spunking money like previously the manager is likely to get a decent budget, with what will be a good side (no Shaw and possibly no Lallana). In addition to this, if they can attract a manager of De Boer or Koeman's calibre then it's likely that players will want to stay.
  12. Ok, they've offered a contract, it's been turned down and they've stuck firm and haven't allowed him to speak to Spurs. He's resigned and bought himself out of his contract, spending £2m of his own money to get there.
  13. This is where the phrase 'mega-spastic' should be used.
  14. Course he would, he's got tons of people to prove wrong.
  15. He's been mentioned a few times, and would be a very good appointment as well.
  16. Only to a few people on this board. I don't think the board come out of this looking bad, but I think Pochettino does.
  17. I completely disagree. As I have asked above, how many other teams have you seen do this? For the Echo, the more bad news there is the more papers they sell. That's how papers work. Numerous articles about it, but here is the first one: http://www.theguardian.com/media/greenslade/2007/sep/04/thegoodnewsaboutbadnewsi
  18. What information would you have wanted from the board? Contracts aren't announced until someone accepts it, I don't ever remember hearing that from any official club portal "We've offered him a contract and he's considering it". For some reason the Echo is yet again trying to de-stabilise the situation. They did it before when Cortese was Chairman, and we all thought it was due to their disagreement. It seems now to me that it is just the raison d'etre of the Echo, to be a bunch of tw ats in relation to Southampton.
  19. The article is full of conjecture and rumour. Hence it's a **** article.
  20. Can't disagree with any of that GS.
  21. Probably the terms of an agreement, they said they'll ban him but he can come back as someone else as he actually didn't do anything wrong at the end except for making stuff up.
  22. As I have said previously, I actually think this is one of the most difficult times ever to be on the Saints board.
  23. And with a sh!te United team to boot. He's a good manager but I'm not 100% sure his style suits our players (although pumping the ball into the box from the wings with Lambert and J Rod in there isn't such a bad idea).
  24. No, we can't get hysterical, there is no reason to. Poch has left, so what? Managers leave, he will be replaced. The time to get hysterical is when a new, crap manager is appointed. Also, this is what I said about Pochettino, so I'd prefer it if you didn't misquote me: "- Pochettino's contract - Even though this is seen as something that needs to be sorted, he still has a year left on his contract. What does it matter if his contract is 1 year or 5 years - if a big club comes calling he will be off."
  25. I agree with this.
