This is basically a free roll of the dice for this game - everyone is now pretty much fit and over their suspensions, a boisterous full house at St. Mary's and confidence will be high after back to back wins having scored 6 and conceded 1.. I'm feeling optimistic - Score draw.

Ulrich van Gobbel replied to once_bitterne's topic in The Saints
Oh FFS.. 21st February is my 30th birthday so I was looking forward to a 3pm KO and a few beers! -
Great news! http://mobile.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/20141218-matt-targett-contract-2152722.aspx

I'm glad that January is just round the corner..

I'm really looking forward to seeing Harri Reed start his first PL league game. He looks a real talent! We chucked both Shaw and Chambers in at the deep end and it worked, I say let's do the same with Reed!
-
Apparently he insists on lime wedges at half time, not oranges.
-
Ha ha! I somehow managed to do the same. I could remember Neil Heaney but not the Latvian Michael Owen - bizarre! 22/31.

Including 5 x Saints Academy graduates...seriously impressive!

Yep - 15th out of 18 teams in the Bundesliga. P11 W3 D1 L7.

Guus Hiddink Resigns as Holland Manager
Ulrich van Gobbel replied to Mallagroth's topic in The Saints
International-break-tabloid-column-inches-sensationalist-filler-article. Ron won't go and he has been quoted in pre-match press conferences as saying along the lines of 'the Dutch FA missed their chance' when they offered Hiddink the job instead of him. -
If Jay Rod wants to go in January after the season we have enjoyed so far then he can get f***ed in my honest opinion. It would be a massive insult to the club who have put a huge amount of time and effort into his rehabilitation from injury if he just wants to jump ship to a struggling (by their standards) club like Spurs. I hope he doesn't want to do that.. but if he does he just needs to take a look at Lovren et al who left Saints in the Summer and who have quickly discovered that the grass isn't always greener...

I will contribute more to this post once I know our 17 x Internationals have returned safely! This will be a tricky game away from home on a cold Monday evening on TV but with our momentum I think we can nick a win by a goal. Earlier in the season I might have accepted a point from games likes Swansea, Hull etc away.. but this season - we have no reason to be fearful.

Back in the Championship dark days when we were relegated from the Premier League I used to love sitting in the Itchen Corner! As other posters have said there is a great atmosphere and good banter with the away fans. When we were in League 1 I started sitting in the Kingsland Corner Block 38/39 which is where a lot of chants and noise is generated at St. Mary's these days. However, if Blocks 1/2 (and 3) are consistently loud like they were vs Stoke then I would definitely consider moving my season ticket there next season.

Last season every said that Lovren made Fonte step up his game. Well, seeing as Lovren joined us from Lyon with a reputation as being an ill disciplined liability in Ligue 1 and now he is struggling at Liverpool (my heart bleeds for him) - maybe it was our José that made Lovren look world class last season!
