  1. Aaron Hunt scored a good goal for Bremen this weekend: http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos/aaron-hunt-werder-bremen-2-2-v-hertha-berlin/
  2. He's still our most important player, and involved in a very high proportion of our chances/goals. Got a young family and settled in the area-just can't see it happening
  3. There'll be a big ol' fuss about this game if Capello is appointed this week. Still a massive name in world football and a lot of journos/broadcasters have a bit of unfinished business with him.
  4. Ha Ha I was only getting a general flavour. So about a year and a half
  5. I'm a very late comer to this thread, but have had a quick skim through. Having not lived in the area for some time, I don't even have much ill-feeling towards Pompey, but this thread is absolute gold. A more vulgar, classless club, run by and represented by more vulgar, classless people you could not wish to meet. Each time I think this saga has run its course it always surprises me with another sorry twist. Of the few professionals to be caught up in match fixing so far, of course one of them had to be ex-Pompey. It just had to be. You couldn't even do a film about their last 6 years, it would need to be a 20 part drama. I think it's got a long way to go too-100,000 posts in the near future?
  6. Ramsey or Suarez will win. It's a popularity contest when they put it to the public
  7. Good draw for us, home to a lower league side. 5 all premier league ties as well, and Chelsea, West Ham, Everton all have pretty tough games.
  8. Newcastle are the side against which Saints have the most Premier League victories and have scored the most goals. This obviously means very little, but an interesting aside.
  9. "A superb goal from Dani Osvaldo to equalise. The striker collects the ball on the edge of the box, leaves Vincent Kompany on his backside and floats the ball into the far top corner. Magical." Here you go Batman-from BBC live feed
  10. Teams Villa have lost away to in the league since October 2012: Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal This won't be easy at all
  11. Watching Salah for Basel tonight reminded me just how much I'd love to have him at Saints. He'd be brilliant either on the left or the right of that 3 behind the striker. That said, I think a lot of top European clubs would think the same.
  12. It happens. Given that I think Arsenal will win the league this is the toughest game of the season. We've got a good group of about 15 but after that the quality is frighteningly scarce. Anyway, on to Chelsea
  13. 1-1 in the Merseyside derby as it stands, pretty poor defending for the Liverpool goal in particular. 6 of the top 8 playing each other over the weekend, should be a good set of games. Lambert 1st goal and 3-1 win 250/1. Stuck a fiver on it!
  14. My two non-saints supporting mates both thought Lallana was our best player. Unfortunately, I think that's the last we'll see of Rodriguez for a while. I expect Adam and Rickie (if fit) to come off the bench on Tuesday. Non-Saints stuff: There's a reason Hart is number 1, there's a reason Cole has more caps than Baines, and there's a reason Jones doesn't play centre back much. England two steps behind in the football evolutionary scale: 4-4-2
  15. The footballing world has left Lampard behind, unfortunately
  16. The lack of pressing from the back 4 and central midfield leaving front three isolated. Saints v Chile would be a fascinating game
  17. Lambert's injured
  18. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12016/9024976/international-news-frank-lampard-set-to-captain-england-against-chile-at-wembley This article seems to suggest all three may well start tomorrow. The team will be announced at 14:30
  19. If he gets more England games than Lallana between now and the end of the World Cup I'll be livid. Even more than if Hodgson plays Carroll when fit over Lambert.
  20. Most definitely 37! I only booked them a couple of days ago so I'm guessing we've taken up the largest allocation and have nearly sold it out. At £25 a pop I'd expect so too.
  21. I'm in block 37. Does anyone know if this is behind the goal or more towards the corner?
  22. http://www1.skysports.com/football/live/match/287372/ratings According to the sky ratings, Senderos and Amorbieta were better than Lovren and Fonte. Just think about that a minute.
  23. http://http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/premier-league/altersschnitt/wettbewerb_GB1.html Fulham have the five oldest individual sides put out this season, so yes I'd say they were an old side.
  24. If ever there was a side to play with our style, Fulham would be it. 2 strikers who are isolated and anonymous for most of the game, supported by an ageing, lethargic midfield and defence, who will struggle with our pressing. The same fixture last year was a microcosm of our early season form: a goal threat but let down by disorganised and ponderous defending. I hope this year will display our energy, confidence and perseverance the first 8 games have shown. My team: Boruc Clyne-Fonte-Lovren-Shaw Schneiderlin-Wanyama Rodriguez-JWP-Lallana Lambert Subs: Davis, Hooiveld, Chambers, Davis, Cork, Osvaldo, Ramirez I'll go with our old favourite, a 3-1 win, Lambert, Wanyama and Rodriguez with the goals
  25. City and Chelsea look to be moving from 3rd to 4th gear, which is ominous for Utd/Spurs/Liverpool. Ask me about Arsenal in six weeks time, when they've played some better sides. Hull and Cardiff have been better than expected, although Cardiff are 1 point off relegation, and Hull only 4. I think they will be dragged back. Palace have one of the weakest ever Prem squads, they will be lucky to reach 25 points. Sunderland, Fulham and Stoke all in for a long season, and 2 of them could conceivably be relegated. As for Saints, my gut feeling is 8th is still the best we could achieve, years of ingrained pessimism tell me we'll struggle against mid table sides. If we're in the top six at Christmas then I'll reconsider.
