Surrey not attempting the chase so looks like we're 8 points behind with two to play. Nice response to the BBC article yesterday evening which claimed Surrey were 'marching towards victory'
-
A real blast from the past to see Tomas Pekhart turning out for Czech Republic last night. Just about remember his goal in the doomed 2008-2009 season
-
Well as things stand we're not able to buy him even if we wanted to
-
Portsmouth at home obviously. We've not lost an FA cup game to a team from a lower division since 2008 (Derby knocked us out on pens 2 years ago)
-
Fair result all in all. Ings would have scored that second one though. Armstrong giving the ball away for a goal again. good result to take into Man U

Turns out we only needed to be mildly competent in the Autumn to be in the European shakeup. Might not be the worst season to miss it though. Not sure we’ll have fans allowed to travel by the time the group stages come around, which is half the fun.
-
Amazing. Wish there had been a crowd as that was an all time great St Mary’s performance
-
I'd be surprised if UEFA did that. England is its biggest market financially, denying a spot would be shooting itself in the foot. The issue here is the club not the league
-
I feel weirdly confident we'll get something at their place next Saturday. No real reason other than blind optimism
-
Absolutely pathetic. No shots on target and barely an attack in the 2nd half against Liverpool’s youth team
-
Ends with 17-86 and the best first class figures since Laker's 19 in 1956

The Saints OS quiz - to pass the time before the Blades game
lickierambert replied to John Boy Saint's topic in The Saints
29/30. Guessed a few of the cup ones but kept (incorrectly) typing Watford. I forgot the 2003 FA cup semi was an own goal -
Watford have Arsenal, Man City and Wolves their next 3 games. If they don't win any of those 3 that'll be no win before October and full panic stations Friend of mine went to West Ham on Saturday and Norwich looked really poor apparently

I love watching cricket. I was at the very first t20 game in 2003 and will be at Lords tomorrow. Allow me to rephrase my point: defeat tomorrow will mean the last month of our season will have no bearing on our CC division next year nor our continuing participation in the latter stages of the t20 Blast. The first time that has happened in a very long time
-
Hants manage to hold on for a draw in the end which mathematically seals safety for another year (thanks Notts) Defeat in the t20 tomorrow will mean the last month of our season is entirely pointless
-
The geographical split is only for the 1st and 2nd rounds and the 18th and 19th placed Prem teams from the previous season get a bye to round 2. It's been that way for years I think
-
It might be my advancing years but I have absolutely no recollection of last year's competition. Apparently we went out in the last 16 to Leicester? Still, it would be nice to play our fishy friends and win
-
If he does go there, I'll be both glad he's out of our club and glad we don't have to play him this year. He's exactly the sort of person who'd revel scoring against us
-
Are we in a ...title race?

England to play Euro qualifier at St Mary's in September
lickierambert replied to The Worm's topic in The Saints
I wonder if we'll use this as an opportunity for a coat of paint and a clean over the summer? -
Good grief, we appear to have beaten Essex comfortably for the first time in a long time
-
If they're happy to move England games away from Wembley, then why not the FA cup semi finals?
-
Reading between the lines, I'd say the flight booking issues may have invalidated the insurance, or at least Cardiff fear it might have, hence this latest stance. If not, why not pursue the insurance claim under their personal accident policy? Potentially a very, very expensive mistake for the club, notwithstanding the human tragedy behind it
-
Until a replacement overseas is sorted, I'd say we'll go: Donald, Alsop, Vince, Northeast, Roussow, Dawson, McManus, Berg, Barker, Abbott, Edwards Still a batsman short in my mind
-
No, and no overseas either. It's positively Saints-like
