Weds 12.05pm from Birmingham to Malpensa, arrive 15.10. Staying at Best Western Astoria, near San Siro. Travel back friday…maybe...

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/search/english+pub+milan/@45.4612992,9.1819815,14.63z I googled english pubs in milan. Close the Duomo I've noticed The English Football Pub, Old Fox Pub, Murphy's Law, King's Pub, Pub O'Connell, Sloane Square. Ok, so you may want to go to Italy for the culture, food and wine, but I'd suggest the above will better at getting a Saints atmosphere going! See you there maybe tomorrow evening.

Europa League 2016/2017 (Died 8/12/2016)
StratfordSaint replied to ScepticalStan's topic in The Saints
Booked flights weds to fri, Birmingham to Milan (£93). Got the last room in the Best Western Astoria (£154 2 nights), walking distance to San Siro! All booked in Opodo. Now, when will match tickets be available? -
If Leicester win the league, what if any of our players think Leicester and champions league should be their next club? Not sure I'd like that - I can just about find an excuse for our our players leaving for so called bigger clubs, but not sure I'd like any of them to think Leicester are bigger than us. So no, we beat them, we want Arsenal or Man City to win league, and we want US to be the ones that displace the hierarchy or the premier league.
-
They are in form, we do play them soon, but they are the club that I fear the most to stop us finishing 5th/6th/7th. Destroying Newcastle tonight!

Aren't perennially negative people so depressing and boring? You know who you are!
-
At this point in time, has he been worth the £12m (is this correct?) that we paid for him? I was doubtful for a very long (no pun intended) period of time, but right now I say yes! Not the most natural of goal scorers, and #7 is a gilded number to play in, but I tip my hat and say the man is a worthy saint.

I would like to suggest to the club that maybe they could do something better. Anyone know what email address at the club is best to use? Thinking about the streets around SMS, they probably get the pitch from the council. Their business is probably at other locations around the area on non-match days, SMS on match days. There probably isn't much call for quality street food from their clientale. It's the british way! So it'll never change. Only inside the ground could Saints have a say - and what's the point of more burgers and hot dogs inside if you can get that outside?
-
Fans campaign? Liverpool fans got the result they wanted in only 1 week! It is/should be supply and demand. So I guess if that's what the majority want, that's what we get. But I cannot believe that's the case. We should do a poll! And present it to our enlightned club heirarchy.

Just at my desk, pondering what to have for my lunch. Which reminds me that every time I go to St Marys I am so unimpressed with the choice of food on offer. Why are there so many vans all around the ground that all do the SAME food? What's the point of duplication? Unless it burgers, chips, pies, hot dogs, onions, crisps etc you are not catered for. So often I'm hungry but don't buy because it's just not enticing enough and definitely not good for me. It got me thinking about whenever I visit an outdoor music festival. The choice of food outlets there is always one of my highlights! There are vans and stalls for virtually every cuisine - thai, indian, vegetarian, pizza, lebanese, chinese, japanese, steak burgers - you name it! I'm happy to pay my money, I just think some culinary choice is more suitable to this day and age. Back to today's lunch, I fancy falafels and salad in a pitta.

Leicester 2 Liverpool 0 - great quote on RAWK: Re: Leicester 2 v 0 Liverpool 2/2/16 Vardy 59 & 72 « Reply #389 on: Today at 09:47:38 PM » Watching Lallana at southampton, and then for us kind of makes me think we just make good players ****, and **** players even worse. http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=325951.360

CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal
StratfordSaint replied to Brizzie Saints's topic in The Saints
Ha! Found a pub with wifi (btfon £6.95 a day). Just found out we signed him. Coolio mandingo! Not bought a newspaper for year. Daily times on the iPad and bbc and saintsweb gives all the news I can consume. -

I'm off to no phone signal land right now (snowden) so if it's not announced in next few hours I probably won't know for sure till Thursday! -

Yes thanks for the great appraisal of VVD. I've been waiting all day for some news, looks like I'll have to wait another 23.5 hours. Just a comment on the fact people on here rage when our players leave and Celtic/Feyenoord fans don't when theirs leave: for me I would feel less aggravated if our players joined teams away from the Premier league - I would then probably cheer my news favourite German/Spanish/French team with their great new ex-Saints player. But I cannot cheer on Spurs/ManU/Liverpool/Arsenal etc. Lets only sell abroad please! -

Agreed. Didn't see anything to get excited about tonight and I watched him like a hawk! just saying... -
He's played at right back, centre back and last night left back. Looked solid if unspectacular. I really rate him the squad and thinks he deserves a special mention for his versatility.
-
Greater than our rise from the ashes? Lots of press talk about them. Quite possibly so in my opinion. But not if they get relegated this season....

manage my own company. Now on holiday. Lots of spare time.

In summary then, for Celtic, they may have: Third qualifying round The first legs will be played on 28 and 29 July, and the second legs will be played on 4 and 5 August 2015. Play-off round The first legs will be played on 18 and 19 August, and the second legs will be played on 25 and 26 August 2015. If signing him does depend on Celtic going out before group stages, the latest we may get him is after 26th August. Not ideal.

So I've read that whether Celtic sell depends on what happenes to them in the Champions League. I'm unsure if that means if they go out we can sign him (i.e. they need the money), or if they stay in we can sign him (i.e. they have plenty of CL money, can easily replace)? What results re: Celtic should I be hoping for??? -
My thoughts exactly. Feyenoord expect us to increase his value, 3 years time likely will get 25% of a £15-20m fee. Pure speculation on my part but can see this scenario. Still good deal though!
-
Maybe, but top 8 is our most likely level, higher than that will be exceptional and extremely hard to achieve (but something we can and should still aspire to). I'm happy! I won't cry if we don't break into the top 6. I've loved the progress we've made the past 5 years, I just want to cement our place in top 8 for next few years then see where the next 5 year plan takes us.
-
I do think that players out will calm down in the next few years. As my original post hinted at, I think our crown jewels have already gone, and we are now left with a GOOD squad with GOOD players, but not high net worth ones. Which means big six EPL teams won't be salivating over Saints anymore.
-
Feeling gutted about Morgan, but to be honest it was expected. The last 2 seasons we have sold big players for big fees, so it does help the clubs finance and re-building. But who are the short and medium term £20m+ players we have left, assuming we ARE a selling club (as recent history shows we are)? Don't get me wrong I want to keep these players! But if we have tp sell players we want big fees. I can see Victor commanding a £20m+ fee in the next season or two. Not sure who else - maybe the crown jewels have all been sold now? This is not meant to be anything other than a discussion on the worth and potential worth of current saints players.
