  1. I agree with Alps, probably would've gone for 7/10 before this morning's statement, with moves away look inevitable prior to it. 9/10 for me, 10/10 if we had JRod in Brazil to look forward to.
  2. Agreed, look at his assist at Stoke!
  3. Trophies aren't necessary - Arsenal and Spurs don't seem to have any trouble attracting or keeping hold of their players.
  4. Shush, stop proving me wrong
  5. I'm not even too bothered if they stay at Southampton or go elsewhere - more footballers that are actually decent people too is always a good thing. More Lallanas, fewer Ronaldos please - sure, he's possibly the best player in the world, but he's also a grade A pr*ck. Bale's right up there too, but he's humble, modest and most importantly grateful for where he is and the chances he's had. The Ronaldos and Rooneys of this world think they deserve things handed to them on a plate and that they are bigger than the team. Seems to me that the Saints lads won't end up going that way, and that can only be for the best.
  6. He's made his predictions against Zac Effron this week, who admits right at the start that he knows almost nothing about football, and Zac's predictions make an awful lot more sense. Lawro will never predict more that 3 goals in a game, usually in a 2-1, but surely 2-0 for the Liverpool-Chelsea game is crazy?
  7. No chance of this happening, and thank goodness for that.
  8. Seriously? Are there still people that dispute climate change? I thought those people were a myth; creatures from tales told to scare the rational people with brains in this world. Whilst we're at it - the moon landing never happened! If evolution is true, why are there still monkeys? Obama is a lizard man from outer space! Et cetera.

    Graphene

From a chemistry/physics point of view, it's a very simple material - essentially pencil lead (graphite) is sheets of carbon atoms in the same structure as graphene, albeit much lower quality in terms of regularity of the structure. What makes graphene interesting is its properties. If we can figure out a way to reliably produce it on a mass scale (we're just about pushing something like half a gram/hour with our current techniques), then it can be used for many many things, but it's the nanotechnology that many physicists are arguably most interested in. With graphene, it's possible to make switches literally atoms across, so the shrinking of electronics and computers can continue, and a few years ago MIT managed to get reliable transitors made of graphene and clocked one at 427GHz. My laptop right now has a processor running at 2.2GHz - so replacing the silicon chips with graphene-based transitors would (theoretically of course) give a processor almost 200x faster. Maybe in 50 years or so we'll be approaching this? The other thing that it could be incredibly useful for would be for photovoltaic cells, due to its high conductivity, but since graphene is all one type of atom there's no band gap - the property that semi-conductors such as gallium arsenide have that mean they can turn sunlight into current. If the scientists of the future can figure that out, then we'll be home and dry! Carbon is such a common and cheap element - if we can crack graphene use, even just one application of it, then that would be a major gain. I'm obviously not an expert in this - I'm only in the second year of my chemistry degree - but this is an area I'm pretty interested in and it could get pretty exciting... though it would help if there was a bit more money being spent on this kind of thing by the government rather than on railways to Birmingham.

    Corners

Either would be better than the dithering short corner routines we've been seeing lately.
  11. Chances of us being able to get Miroslav Stoch this year? We were linked with him last season but it came to nothing, he's been on loan at PAOK this year, they may be looking to offload him. Great player.
  12. I don't think we'll be buying any players from English clubs, they'll be from foreign leagues like last summer - let's hope we can get a couple more Lovrens than Osvaldos.
  13. Missed a sitter today at 3-2.
  14. He's been pants every time I've seen him, especially for the England U21s. No ta.
  15. Defensively pretty good, offensively lacking - why can't we just shoot?! Chances are pretty good for a goal/deflected goal/favourable rebound/corner. Too much back-passing when we're on the edge of their box. Still, fairly good showing from the team today, Fonte, Schneiderlin and Wanyama especially so. Clyne must feel very unlucky to have been kept out of the squad so much, he played well today.
  16. Glasgow's second account?
  17. I get the argument that he was close and it was hit hard, but Bertrand's hand was out from his body and the cross would've gone through if it wasn't there. Penalty.
  18. JWP off, Gallagher on.
  19. Who's there watching from the England management today?
  20. If we buy a new keeper in the summer, can we get one that can kick please?
  21. Luke lucky not to get a yellow there, I think.
  22. Depends on your way of thinking. If this were most teams, then Saints - we're well on top. So probably a Villa goal.
  23. Looking good now, surely a matter of time?
  24. Newcastle 1-0 up.
  25. Who wanted to drop Fonte for this? Massive tackle.
