Pompey are in with a shout of promotion to the Championship. We could get our derby's back next season!

That would be a no

For all we know the club have been desperately trying to find a replacement for months but no-one's interested

If I was working for Mr Gao I expect I'd view the most risk free way of ensuring a profit on his investment at this point would be to do absolutely nothing until the end of the season, then asset strip and sell. Even if the club are relegated, I'd be confident of making at least £50m from player sales, then even if the club was sold for less than he paid for it, overall he'd still be walking away with more money than he put in a few months ago. Even if he only made a personal profit of £1m I'd expect he'd be satisfied with that considering how little of his time the project had taken up.

Reasons for why he might prefer to come to Saints might include the fact that our track record with preventing and treating player injuries is superior.

How can we improve the atmosphere at St Mary's?

Start scoring goals and we'll make plenty of noise! -
6th. Finishing 8th with our squad, playing in Europe and considering the injuries we had was good going. We have basically the same squad, less injuries and less games this season.

We've got Brett Ormerod, we've got Brett Ormerod, we've got Brett Ormerod, we've got Brett Ormerod!

As we're going for a retro theme this year and everyone's crying out for attacking football, maybe the club will call a press conference then to everyone 's astonishment, Kevin Keegan will walk into the room!
-
We're staying up, and we beat Inter Milan. That's a good season as far as I'm concerned, especially with the injuries to key players we've had to contend with.

Personally, I take any "ITK" comments with a huge pinch of salt. Taking Jose's case as an example, then actually nobody is "ITK" about his intentions except Jose, and he is perfectly entitled to be undecided! Same as newspaper gossip imo. It's all chinese whispers and speculation, and any thing that comes true is most likely to be coincidence or a very safe bet that anyone not "ITK" will have guessed.

If Liverpool can get to the Europa cup final, we can win it! I'll be happy if we just get through the group stages though. I'm making the same prediction for the prem as I have every year since we were promoted - 12th (it's served me well so far!). FA cup & League cup we'll go straight out of (it's just what we do in those I'm afraid!). I think we're in with a shout of winning the JPT!

Err... Kelvin starting today ('ulp!)

Luke Shaw suffers double leg fracture against PSV

Just doesn't seem to have gone well for the players that have left us supposedly for better things over the last couple of years has it? I sympathise, but then again he went there knowing he might not get picked, he might get injured, but whatever happens he'll get rich. -
Imagine how many goals Charlton or Lineker would've scored if they'd played for England for as many years! Rooney's record is less than 1 goal every 2 games. Really not that impressive.
-
We'll always be able to get a much better player in his position for the same price. Same goes for most English players.

Overall I'd say our strength in depth is more even. Our best players are not quite as good as last season's best players, but our back up options are better. We've strengthened most up top, midfield slightly weaker, defence slightly weaker. Having said that. It's very early days. Who's to say Romeu wont turn out to be as good as Morgan once he's settled in?, and Clasie might add some creativity. Cedric becoming as good as Clyne in the next few weeks, and van Dijk ever reaching Toby's standard seems unlikely, but stranger things have happened! The only catch is that I really think there's a good 5 teams that finished below us last season that have strengthened drastically. It's going to be a much more competative league this season. Our coaching staff are top notch, though, imo, so we might well overachieve again. I just think that overachieving this year, all things considered, would mean finishing 10th - 12th, rather than 12th - 16th.

CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal

"I'm very excited to be playing in the Premier League. Southampton is a big club with lots of history and a bright future." Stick a watch on his wrist, get him to sign a piece of paper, stick a shirt on him and photograh him standing in the Itchen stand. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes! -

I agree with all of that, except the top 9 bit. We certainly have improved, but our first team still isn't as good as last years, whereas Stoke, Palace, Newcastle, Everton, Swansea and West Ham have all strengthened. I reckon 12th - 16th is more realistic. -
Exactly how I feel about it. Not to mention the England squad get togethers nowadays doubling up as a golden opportunity for tapping up players who aren't already at one of the top 6 clubs. Couple that with all the scandal surrounding FIFA, and I personally find myself wishing the FA would not only boycott the world cup, but disband the England team altogether and concentrate on supporting the domestic game at grass roots level.

!!! Because last time we had a new signing that looked that awful, he had conned his way into getting signed by us by claiming to be George Weah's cousin. Or haven't you heard of Ali Dia? I would've made the same joke if he was White, Asian, Native American or Martian. The point I'm making is that we seem to have signed a proper dud. Perhaps you should consider why you were so quick to assume the comment had anything to do with race! -

Thankfully it seems the player's confidence isn't as easily shattered as ours! Season starts here. Need to keep Mane. Special mention for Martina though, who looks every bit non league standard. Is he related to George Weah?! -
Much, much better. Can't believe the transformation from a few days ago tbh. Mane is definitely our best player atm. Fingers crossed we hold on to him.
