Looks like they could be getting Leroy Fer and Toby Alderweireld too, think they might have a good season.

https://twitter.com/ciersteele/status/354683356803366912/photo/1 Could be on a wind up, but he posted a picture of himself at the game with Cortese so you never know. edit: beaten, but hope the guy who tweeted is not having us on.

Celtic's pre-season game is over (lost 6-2), it will be interesting to see if he says anything about Wanyama if he does a post match interview.
-
Isn't that old news? Could have sworn it was in the press that he rejected us a couple of weeks ago. Maybe we tried again.
-
Ok, so if we offered Internacional 16m, have bid 12m for Wanyama and Banega is reportedly going to cost about 7.5m, it would appear our remaining transfer budget (excluding wages, bonuses etc) is around 35m. Should be able to get 3 quality players with that much even if all three current targets fall through.

0-0-0- 11 (goalkeeper is CL level striker playing Russian fly)

Not to mention his impressive form last season will keep the price really high, doesn't matter really, Chelsea would be foolish not to give him a chance next season IMO.
-
Tancredi Palmeri @tancredipalmeri 2m Considering that Negredo is close, and there is meeting for Jovetic, so seems Osvaldo deal is not going through for Manchester City So that door closes for Osvaldo, perhaps he will reconsider joining us now Atletico have got Villa and City want Negredo and Jovetic instead.
-
Oh well, on to the next saga we go.

Interesting link from a napoli fansite that has reported that Former Napoli coach Gianni Di Marzio (who's son is Sky Italy's top reporter Gianluca Di Marzio) called into a radio show in Italy to talk about Damiao situation. He thinks Damiao will end up in England. http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=it&u=http://www.canalenapoli.it/news/gianni-di-marzio-leandro-damiao-andra-in-inghilterra-mentre-spero-che-j-cesar-arrivi-al-napoli-76479&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dleandro%2Bdamiao%26safe%3Dactive%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26hs%3D0zZ%26sa%3DX%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26biw%3D1366%26bih%3D606%26tbs%3Dqdr:h

That makes it sound like Napoli are out in front ATM because we have yet to make a bid for him and that our bid should be higher than Napoli's. At least this saga won't drag on too long if his club want it sorted one way or another by the time their transfer window shuts in 12 days. I think they want rid of Adebayor before they buy another striker because of his massive wages. Good luck with that, can't see him attracting the sort of clubs that could afford to give him the money he'd want.
-
Tancredi Palmeri @tancredipalmeri 1m Leandro Damiao has been contacted by Zenit. Southampton and Napoli on him too, with Napoli slightly ahead

http://www.sportsdirectnews.com/premier-league/27821-southampton-transfers-saints-in-banega-talks.php can't vouch the credibility of the site, but they claim we are in talks with Banega.

Napoli's first choice gone.
-
He also writes that our interest has cooled, despite MP saying we wanted him in his press conference. Then again, he gets a lot of transfer stuff right.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/everton-transfer-news-victor-wanyama-2034347 Everton enter the race according to Nixon, but they have to sell first.
-
Right, in that case, unless a new bidder has stepped in, I think it may be good news for us. I think if it was a new bidder, Nixon would have said so, since a new team coming in for him, (whose identity he'll reveal in the paper) is too good a hook to not disclose. Wanyama staying at Celtic is not really good news for anyone if it means Celtic don't get the money they want this summer and have to accept much less next summer. It means Wanyama hasn't got the move to a higher profile league he wants for another year It's not good for us for obvious reasons.
-
Given Celtic seem to want the money, to my mind either the agent has given in accepted NC's offer, NC has caved in to the agent's demands or Cardiff have come back with a new offer.

according to this dimarzio article someone posted in the Damiao thread, Galatasaray have told Fiorentina that he'll cost €15m http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=it&u=http://www.gianlucadimarzio.com/calciomercato/napoli-rilancio-per-mario-gomez-fiorentina-su-yilmaz/&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhttp://www.gianlucadimarzio.com/calciomercato/napoli-rilancio-per-mario-gomez-fiorentina-su-yilmaz/%26safe%3Dactive%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26hs%3DxBu%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official relevant bit
-
What about Burak Yilmaz? Reportedly would cost €15m, excellent goal record last year (24 in 30 league games & 8 in 9 in CL). strong, quick & excellent in the air.
-
Gomez has reportedly been on the brink of joining Fiorentina for a while now with the move not completing, it wouldn't be a shock if he had a change of heart now a CL team like Napoli are atempting to muscle in.
-
Well yeah, just making the point that with the clause in we are guaranteed an excellent price for him when we eventually sell him.
-
Shaw is far more gifted a defender than Bale was when he played for us (let's be honest Bale's defending wasn't that great, he was a winger being shoehorned in at LB). Shaw gets up and down the pitch really well, but for me his defending is the stronger part of his game. he has the makings of the perfect modern full back (strong, quick, hard to beat in the air and very good at going forward.
-
£20m plus release clause? Huge fee for a full back.
