Shut them out effectively second half, Boruc didn't have any real saves to make. Fox did a bit better with Dyer as well, didn't allow him to play anything but high, pace-less crosses that Bony couldn't do anything with.
-
We were on top for the first 25 minutes but shut off after the goal. Fox just can't cope with Dyer, nobody is tracking back to help him and if it weren't for Boruc we'd be losing.

Lallana/Lambert/Osvaldo all too happy staying far up the pitch and waiting for the ball, not one of them has taken the responsibility to drop deep and link it all up so the defence and CMs have no option but to pass it about ponderously amongst themselves or hoof it. On the rare occaisions we have got the ball forward quickly the front players are taking to long to decide what to do with the ball. Palace look capable of nicking a goal on the counter attack.

Rodriguez was out doing promotion work for the new FIFA today.

MP on Lambert "He's been in the starting XI for five games, so I don't understand these sorts of rumours." #saintsfc Pochettino literally dumbfounded by suggestions Lambert will be sold in January #saintsfc

Oops, so he is. Still, knows the league well and isn't employed.

Decent first half, but apart from Osvaldo our front 4 aren't doing anything and Wanyama, while he is offering decent protection really doesn't look technically capable enough for the PL right now, too many stray passes and takes far too much time to decide what he wants to do with the ball when he gets it.

Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 0-0 West Ham
Bewildered replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Also, the attacking midfielders have got to come short and show some decent off the ball movement and give our CBs and DMs a good option to play it forward when play starts at the back. Lallana and Rodriguez don't do this, they wait for the ball to come to them by which time opposition have either organised themselves properly to deal with it or have someone on them ready to steal the ball. -

We were gash first half, slightly better but still bad 2nd half. Rodriguez, Wanyama & Morgan all dreadful. -
I don't know, CBs can usually find their team mates with short passes. Cork won't be getting left out for too many more games if Wanyama keeps playing like he has so far today and last week.
-
Rodriguez and Wanyama have been dire, Schneiderlin little better, Clyne and Shaw have been marked out of the game as forward threats apart from one or two occaisions. Osvaldo looks to have put more effort in than anyone else out there, but it isn't looking good as far as Osvaldo forming a partnership with Lambert is concerned.

Lambert was far from brilliant, second half in particular. However, it would be ridiculous if the press single him out for criticism given Walcott, Milner, Walker, Young and Wilshere were worse.
-
Such a poor game, Ukraine's support must be livid their team played so badly. Any half decent team would beaten that England side.
-
Held the ball up well first half, but not had the best support from Walcott and Milner. England are lucky Ukraine aren't playing like the world-beaters people were hyping them up to be, some of the performances have not been good. Cole, Cahill and Lampard have been our best players. Walcott, Wilshere, Milner and Walker have been poor.

Excellent goalkeeping from Butland...

apparently no channels outside Finland bothered to buy the rights and Finnish TV decided to show it on tape delay at 6:30

While Rickie, JWP, Shaw and Chambers had good games for their respective England sides over the last couple of nights, we did have other players in action. Yoshida: Played 90 mins in a 3-0 win over Guatemala Boruc: Played 90 minutes as Poland held Montenegro Lovren: Played 90 mins for Croatia in a 1-1 draw with Serbia Davis: Played 90 minutes as othern Ireland lost 4-2 against Portugal Osvaldo had to sit out Italy's 1-0 win over Bulgaria due to suspension Targett played for Scotland u19s in a 1-1 draw with Iceland a couple of days ago Uruguay don't play for another 4 hours Finally in some bad news, Lloyd Isgrove played as Wales u21s lost to San Marino 1-0. This is the first game San Marino have won on field at u21s level as their previous two wins came via the other team forfeiting.

Osvaldo was suspended for tonight's game.

Gerrard is Townsend's Man of the Match! One goal and a dozen misplaced diagonal balls earns the accolade for the Liverpool legend
-
At least Roy Keane recognised Rickie's pass for the third.

At HT, spare a thought for Lloyd Isgrove. Wales U21s are suffering the ultimate humiliation in European football: losing to San Marino
