K. Billy's supersound was saying on the Lambert thread last night; So I think we can discount anyone British or any foreigner who has been managing in England this past season...

Blackmore: Players angry with Board & Reed
Bewildered replied to Saint Charlie's topic in The Saints
People will do well to remember that Les Reed probably wields much more power right now within the club than he could have ever hoped for under someone like Nicola Cortese. This is likely to be amplified by the fact that amongst the board, he is the only one with any footballing background or knowledge and everyone else at boardroom level lacks the knowledge to properly identify any mistakes he might be making. This is why the composition of the board is all wrong, there should be at least one other "football person" in the boardroom who can accurately and competently keep checks on him. -
I see him down to 14s on Skybet, was 25/1 a couple of hours ago. Christian Gross is down to 6/1 on betvictor (not even listed by Skybet) Steve McClaren has come in to 3/1 on betvictor http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/southampton/next-permanent-manager

Oh look, Liverpool wheeling out the method they used to bully the club into selling Lambert.
-
They did appoint someone.
-
Should shoulder as much blame as anyone IMO. Seems to have all the power relating to the football side of the club after all.
-
Indeed Much in the same way Lallana to Liverpool made it's way into the press a couple of days after Les Reed's statement.
-
£9m for a player of Lambert's age is ridiculous.
-
I think that whole "we will make the shortlist public" quote will prove to be nothing beyond a case of bad phrasing on RK's part.
-
Reading that Garcia story, It reads very strongly like something his agent has fed to the journalist trying to encourage Celtic to show some interest. After RK's words yesterday, the club can't afford to appoint someone entirely unremarkable like Garcia.
-
Kleber Chala as his assistant?
-
Simon Peach @SimonPeach 1m #SaintsFC keen not to appoint another manager without a decent grasp of English, which would suggest a move for Murat Yakin is a no-goer.
-
Yeah, appointing Mackay, Hughton, McClaren and others of that ilk would probably provoke outrage after his words this afternoon.
-
Quotes from Yakin (taken from Joe Batchelor's twitter) Yakin: “It would be an exciting adventure. I have got an agent who is responsible for England. I heard about Saints, but nothing concrete. Yakin: “I’ve watched the EPL and I know they were well placed It will be good to have a chance to see some of their players play at the WC. Yakin: “I left Basel by mutual agreement. I felt I would like a new challenge and see what happens and what new opportunities arise. Yakin: “My English is OK. It is no problem for me to use it with the team, perhaps it needs a few months’ practice for the public.”

Since you are expert what should RK have said?

Remember this? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/southampton/7974725/Phil-Brown-eager-to-replace-Alan-Pardew-as-Southampton-manager.html

That report is literally telling you the early favourites with bookies. With Poyet, the manager with the shortest odds, at 5/1 I would not read much into it.
-
http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/southampton/next-permanent-manager Lennon's odds have come in to 6/1 today. Although as that link shows there is no clear front runners yet. Managers 10/1 or better with at least 1 bookie Poyet Petrescu Lennon Mackay Di Matteo Sherwood Pardew Benitez (8/1 on betvictor) AVB Paco Jemez (10/1 on betvictor) Oscar Garcia (10/1 on paddypower)

So... Anyone on here good at Football Manager?
-
You are only telling the half of the story that suits you Batman. They were comfortable the entire season, spending most of the season between 8th and 10th. 14th (where they finished) was the lowest position they had held all season, they were never in any danger.
-
True, but we should also not ignore the fact that his replacement took the same set of players from bottom of the league (the position he left them in) to a comfortable mid-table finish.
