  1. Crossing has been poor, but Sunderland have been packing the box whenever we go wide. Trouble is can Juanmi or Seager change much if they come on?
  2. Line up: Stek Yoshida Fonte VVD Bertrand Clasie JWP Davis Mane Tadic Pelle Yoshida at RB and a ligfhtweight CM 3 doesn't really bode well.
  3. We were good first half, but alarmingly complacent second half. Had we been playing a side wth any quality whatsoever we probably wouldn't have won.
  4. It's being shown live in Holland and across Africa so there may be a stream. http://m.livesoccertv.com/match/1753857/southampton-vs-aston-villa/
  5. The ramblings of a broken man.
  6. Some dire performances from a few players to be sure, but Koeman must take some of the blame for his odd selection of RB, subs and switch to negative tactics the moment we went one up. Cedric couldn't have possibly done any worse at RB than Yoshida did.
  7. http://sportsmania.eu/site/index.html Looks like someone messed up a redesign of the sportsmania website, best to use the Kodi app to get the streams today.
  8. https://twitter.com/SBerahino/status/638744042772299776 Berahino has spat his dummy out.
  9. Spurs offer for Berahino was allegedly 5m up front and the rest in installments. I wonder why wba told them to **** off...
  10. MLT on SSN just now said he had been told Spurs have made only one bid for Vic a few weeks ago that was lower than the fee we paid Celtic for him.
  11. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/celtic-face-stand-southampton-saints-6349066. Supposedly won't go higher than 10m as there are no other serious offers. Worryingly claims we are willing to wait until January if Celtic don't budge.
  12. Probably as a sign of agreement wothe the tweet he retweeted just before
  13. He had promise when he first broke through, but he's never really progressed. Part of that is down to a lack of on pitch assertiveness and mental strength. Never actively tries to make things happen in open play, better safe than sorry approach. Another part of his problem has been down to the number of managers we have had and the fact that all of them have tried to make him do different things and play different positions so now we have a player who is like a sqaure peg faced with 11 round holes. Adkins thought he was the next Schneiderlin, Pochettino would just put him whereever there was a gap in midfield and now Koeman wants him to attack more. tl:dr summary: a combination of aversion to risk when he plays and poor handling of his development has lead to him looking ever more likely to waste his potential. The future England captain BS comes from press hype that is fueled by his agent/management company.
  14. http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2015/latest-injury-blow-leaves-yoann-gourcuff-in-limbo/ Injured (for the millionth time in his career), expected to miss 3 months.
  15. Absolute tripe. Stek - Nothing much he could do about the goal Caulker - Hoooooof! Every. Single. Time Fonte - It was bad enough when we thought we had 2 **** CBs. Doing his best this season to suggest that number has risen to 3. The ease with which their striker lost him for the goal was pathetic. Yoshida - Just not a very good player I'm afraid. Martina - About as much attacking threat as Yoshida last week. Romeu - Neat and Tidy, but that doesn't help when your in midfield with mediocre at best players. Davis - He was better than JWP, but he was still average. JWP - Offers nothing unless it is a set piece and even then it's not as effective as some would have you believe. Targett - Poor going forwards and backwards for that matter. Rodriguez - So rusty, offered nothing worthwhile. set the wheels in motion for their winner with a joke attempt at a clearance. Pelle - Poor sod, they kicked high, floaty long balls at him all night, what is he supposed to do. Subs: Tadic - Did better than the rest, but should have started or at least played the entire second half Long - came on too late Juanmi - Not given enough time Koeman - ****ed up selection and tactics big time. Wrong formation, line-up and strategy. MotM - The fans who traveled over there to see such a gutless performance. 1 CB and 1 creative CM badly needed before Tuesday.
  16. Problem for the wing backs is that when they get the ball, they have 2 players on them and JWP/Davis aren't coming wide to offer support.
  17. Absolute ****e. Have got to get Tadic, Mane or Juanmi on the pitch asap.
  18. He looked good in pre-season, but Koeman seems to have decided he is bottom of the pecking order when it comes to attackers. Very strange.
  19. Stek - Not much to do, watfords two best opportunities didn't need him to do anything. Caulker - Looked iffy at times. Interesting that he seemed to join in with attacks, perhaps doing what Koeman will want VVD to do if we get him? Fonte - Much better performance, dominated Deeney. Yoshida - Didn't do anything particularly wrong. Cedric - Looked better defensively, but worse going forward. Wanyama - Too casual at times. Romeu - Good game apart from one stupid tackle. Davis - Failed to really create much. Long story short, he's a workhorse and with two non creative DMs, you need a bit more ingenuity than he seems able to provide. Put in a shift defensively though. Targett - Unfortunately not good really, found the second half tough. Didn't really get forward well either. Pelle - Not at his best today, but it should be acknowledged that the service was abysmal and Long and Davis didn't get close enough to him to make much of knockdowns. Mane - Looked our best attacking player before he went off injured Subs: Long - Runs around a lot, but didn't work well with Pelle and most of his runs led him down blind alleys JWP - Wasn't given enough time. Rodriguez - Nowhere near long enough. Felt like Koeman settled for a draw. Disappointed he didn't send on Tadic or Juanmi.
  20. Uninspiring football. Need some creativity on the pitch. Either Tadic or Juanmi on as we just have workhorses on the pitch now.
  21. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3207372/Victor-Wanyama-tells-Southampton-unhappy-wants-leave-midfielder-refusing-discuss-new-contract.html According to this: - Wanyama has been unhappy for a while - His home being burgled further unsettled him - Doesn't feel his contribution is appreciated enough by the club - RK dropping him 3 times last season led him to "question his role in the team" under Koeman.
  22. If it is true, then the club just have to tell him it isn't happening. Instead, Wanyama should be focusing on his performances for us because what I've seen of him so far since the season started has been far from impressive IMO.
  23. David Sullivan has released a response to Charlie Austin's comments through his grandson.
  24. Defensively we seem to lack communication and organisation, like there is no leader on the pitch so we are always vulnerable. In possession, the passing is consistently not quick or clever enough so it is easy for opposition to get back and get in position like Midtjylland did tonight. To top it off, if we do find good positions, the final pass is often lousy. Of course, it may be a case of early season jitters as the new signings settle into the side, but things don't look very promising right now. Still a couple of players you would assume were starters sidelined with injuries (Clasie, Bertrand) and missing a signing at CB. If we are still this bad in after 10-12 league games, then we should be worried.
