He is an entertainer. I would like to see Hughes puts his arm round him and try to get the best out of him. It would be a good gauge of how good a manager he is.
-
Why don't we keep them all? Better to concentrate on building a good team spirit and get another 15% out of them.
-
Hughes will ensure several seasons of stability and mid table finishes. That suits me!

Totally agree. I recall when we were struggling during a period under Koeman and somebody on here reported seeing Fonte, Stephen Davis, somebody else and Betrand in a pub, The implication was they were trying to sort it out. Part of the inner circle.

Great Escapes - past and present ... is this the best ?

I think the joke by the end of October was what is the difference between Southampton and a tooth pick - a tooth pick as got two points -

I recall a trip to the last season at Roker Park on a Tuesday night. Egil scored in the 18th minute and we held on. -
If you watch the goal against Everton you will see his reaction from the bench and conclude he was very much on board.

If we had an underperforming squad that is now performing why do we need to threaten that by changing it all around again? Continuity generally leads to improvement under the right manager. Of course if I was fine tuning things I would get a decent centre back in. Otherwise try to keep the squad intact now it has a different mentality.

I am afraid I am a product of another era. The first thing I do when the fixture list comes out is look at the run in. Call me unambitious but I would always be happy with mid table and a good cup run. When we punched above our weight we just had our managers and players poached. I would rather have a manager like Hughes who has demonstrated he can deliver results and will not leave to go to a big club.

I think they will put in a shift for him.

In fairness Winnersaint it was a legitimate question that I had tried to google - if I am watching a horse race I want to know who is running. If you feel the need to label me a dickhead then that is up to you but I am afraid that it makes you more of one than me. Of course in real life I find it unlikely that you are one.

Cameron wanted to come back with a bit of paper to wave around like Chamberlain. The EU gambled that they would win the referendum and made him come back virtually empty handed.

The Bournemouth game really felt like the Norwich game!

Thanks for that. It is actually quite relevant if one of Swansea's best players is not playing.

Is Jordon Ayew liable for a ban if he is found guilty of his challenge on Cahill?

It is in nobody's interest to not get a deal signed so I am sure that we will. I am not naïve in thinking that our friends in the US will do us any favours but I think in time Brexit will give us more flexibility to operate in the global marketplace. I think if we had stayed in our voice would have been even weaker because the issue would have been settled. Ultimately I am pro business and if there is a sharp deterioration then I would be back in like a shot.

I would not contest that immigration was the main factor. The rising population has implications for everybody. 70% is an interesting statistic but I think you have to look at each referendum individually. A vote to change gay marriage is always going to be easier to win that an independence vote for Scotland. For the bookmakers to give 7 to 1 in a two horse race indicates how most felt the vote would go. I would argue that this undoubtedly tipped the balance. It is the same factor that inflated the Labour vote in last years election - people felt they could vote Labour and still not get Corbyn.
-
All that Europe had to do was to let Cameron implement reasonable restrictions on claiming benefits and to make sure that people travelling to the UK had a job to go to. To not recognise that with a population rising at 300,000+ annually with no form of migration control from Europe was a major concern was either stupid or arrogant.
-
I don't think you can underestimate that people thought we would vote to stay in. That is why we ended up leaving because people like me voted out thinking there would be no risk. As it happens despite the dramatic slowdown to 0.1% growth in quarter 1, the sky has not fallen in as we were told and I would vote out more comfortably now. If there was a referendum tomorrow you would find that all the people who voted out would still vote out plus a few more. I think however we would vote to stay in the EU because the turnout would be higher and most of the new voters would vote in.
-
The reason that people voted for Brexit in my opinion were straight forward; It was assumed that we would vote in - you could 7:1 on a leave vote on the day. People felt they could protest and not change anything Free movement. A policy that allowed free movement from places with an average wage of 300 Euros a month to 2500 Euros without any restrictions The way Cameron was treated when he tried to negotiate a better deal.

A very sad day. From my earliest days following Saints it has been part of the ritual to moan about the price of the programmes! Do you remember at the Dell the other scores being put on the board and you had to match the letter in the programme to the game and the player of the season voting slips in the second last game of the season. Those were the days when we had a player of the season.
-
That is exactly it. I am enjoying going to games again.

They obviously weren't singing

Finally a performance that showed we have the fight to battle relegation.
