Have you read any of the above? Forster was playing sh1te for a year before we offered him the second extension after Puel’s season - that is what people are annoyed about. He then went from liability to calamity in the season just gone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Guessing McCarthy, Austin and Phillips would’ve played together at QPR. Probably explains the connection. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Some lad on twitter appears to have bumped into Les at HarBar on 6th this evening (there are photos of the two). Not much of interest other than Les apparently reiterating that we have to ‘sell to buy’. Slightly worrying IMO given that we only seem to have loaned out players and haven’t recouped a lot on transfer fees. Guessing the only obvious person we’ll be able to sell on is Gallagher given the demand, but doubt £7-10m will go far in this market if we were to reinvest. Or maybe Lemina could be sacrificed? If we don’t sign another striker it will be another glaring f*ck up as our current options, other than Gabbi, are underwhelming to say the least. It will also make the decision to loan out Carillo seem a bit of a hasty one given our initial outlay. Also not convinced he’s been given a fair chance (Pelle was just as unproductive for the equivalent minutes when he first signed) and a loan with a foreign club could’ve been agreed after the window closed anyway. Let’s hope it’s all smoke and mirrors and we are busy negotiating as we are in dire need of an upgrade in this position. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

He’s been a crap signing. Couldn’t hack the physicality of the league and typically looked spent after 60 mins. Always thought that he seemed to hide from receiving the ball as well, and not sure he had a forceful enough personality to make his mark on the team - maybe something to do with being homesick. Shame, once again, that we can’t get rid on a permanent deal. One of a number of squad dross. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Didn’t that puff piece by Jeremy Wilson at the end of last season refer to us constantly batting away enquiries about Boufal? Seems strange that we were only able to loan him out if that was the case. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m confused. That links Newcastle to Origi, and us to Ings? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It’s not that strange, just the club having contingency plans in place if a move for their preferred target falls through. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Spurs apparently interested as well according to Sky Sports. Expect a £10m bid from Levy in the next couple of weeks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Summer 2018 - Other teams Manager/transfer business

Mental. For all of the praise Howe gets for his coaching he has generally been atrocious at spending money. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
So pleased Lovren said that cr@p about him being one of the best defenders in the world. He’s going to get absolutely crucified by opposition fans next season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Agree on the valuation of Ings. I know you weren’t saying we should sign him, but given the fact that he has done his ACL on both knees, we may as well go back in for J-Rod as at least there is a known level of performance there. Ings hasn’t played anywhere near the amount of games since his injuries to know he’s still the same player, so it’s a complete punt in the dark IMO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester

Jannik on the streets of Pompey, Jannik on the streets of Liverpool, I wonder to myself Will your attack be the same again? As our Great Dane kicks and your scythed down I wonder to myself [repeat x 100] Optional chorus: He’ll burn down your sh1thole, He’ll hang that bast@rd Virgil, Because the football that he constantly plays, It says Southampton FC are the best side It says Southampton FC are the best side Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
He said we’d be close to having our business done - so I don’t think that precludes bringing another striker in. I guess a lot will depend on a) how he wants to utilise Elyounoussi; b) who we can actually ship out. Bringing a new striker in before we can get rid of the likes of Austin or Long will cause a few headaches with squad numbers and obviously FFP with wages stacking up. Is that still on the table/being considered as I thought that was if we got relegated? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Hopefully Sparky gets a more consistent tune out of Gabbiadini. Having attacking midfielders providing some proper support behind him will obviously help that. It will be hard to upgrade on him when shopping in the £15m - £20m bracket. Happy to move Austin and Long on. Agree with the OP comments about those two, and would like to see Gallagher given a chance as our no. 3 striker. He is still developing, but in terms of power, pace and mobility he has everything you would want physically in a target man. His finish yesterday bodes well for his inclusion this season. Difficult to say about potential new strikers as not a lot of obvious names out there, beyond the lazy links to Ings. Alcacer is the one name that won’t go away and I can see us going back in for him once our other business is done. Whether he is the right profile of striker we need is another debate. The Echo have said that the Marlon reports are incorrect. I think we may have looked into a potential deal for him and Gibson as a contingency if we didn’t secure Vestergaard, but as you say, I can’t see us having 6 senior CB’s at the club. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Proper competition for the GK spot at last. Something we’ve lacked since returning to the PL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I reckon it will be that Croatian lad from the Danish team - Karlo Bartolec - that we replace Pied with. Agreed on Bertrand and Cedric. I think that Bertrand’s time for leaving has been and gone as can’t see any of the top 6 being in need of a new LB. Cedric just hasn’t been good enough, though I could see him leaving next summer when he has a year left on his contract (assuming he doesn’t sign a new one). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ve often thought that he seems to get distracted too easily during games, normally on pulling up his socks which he must do about a hundred times a game. Doesn’t seem to be paying attention until the ball gets played into our half and therefore gets caught out if anyone shoots unexpectedly from distance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Get out.

Alex Crook just regurgitates stories already in the press or titbits he has found on here. He is a joke figure among our media department and other journos covering Saints. I think Luke Shaw once gave him some actual info about not starting one game under Adkins and he has dined out on that ever since. The guy is a complete fraud. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
