In the summer transfer window, a lot was made about the fact that we scouted this guy for six years before signing him. That is probably still a very telling insight about the state of the club at the moment, but not in the way that Les & Ross intended. Has done virtually nothing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Has to be Brendan Rogers if Hughes gets the chop. At least he’s a manager with a philosophy that will give Les an excuse to prattle on about a return to a possession-based playing style. Anything else would be an admission of the mess of a club we’ve become: gripped by short-termism, without a coherent plan at boardroom level, and with no discernible playing identity. That Guardian article about us resembling a stale, eggy fart must surely have Les rattled. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Who plays alongside Ings vs Brighton?
Toon Saint replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
I’d start Gabbiadini with Ings, and have Gallagher as the bench option. Blobby Austin can drop out of the squad and into the gym. Will be interesting to see what Hughes goes for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

If that was true then maybe he’d lose a bit of weight and show a bit more energy on the pitch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think we’ll get a point at home to Brighton and lose the rest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Anyone know why Lemina didn’t show or bother with the team photo? Still waiting for that baby to arrive? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Would be mental to loan him out now, given that we turned down a decent fee for him. And because we’ve already shifted another wide player in Sims, out on loan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I quite enjoyed the forum but thought that Blackmore let Les and Ralph off the hook a few times by essentially feeding them their likely answer. Also Blackmore should know that the one thing that Saints fans don’t want to hear is people talking about how great Klopp is and what an experience training at Liverpool must be. Les’ response about the sacking of Pellegrino was almost insulting - made out as though it was a perfectly timed, smooth transition, that not many other clubs were able to pull off, seeming to ignore the fact that we were the last club to actually make a change and that Hughes was available for months beforehand anyway. If he had just admitted they gave him too much time I think that would go some way to restoring a bit of trust, but it did feel like his hubris got in the way again. As others have said back to 4-2-3-1 for me. It might mean less playing time for some of our CB’s but surely benefits the rest of the squad with attacking players in their more natural positions. I’d probably go: —————McCarthy Cedric—Maya—Jannik—Bertrand ———Romeu—-Lemina Redmond—Armstrong—Moi ——————Ings Would like to see a Gabbi/Ings partnership tested at some point, and there is an argument for including JWP over Redmond for his positional discipline away from home, but reckon we’d have a decent chance of a point with the team above. I’ve started going to the BrewDog before games now. Great selection of beers, never too busy. Relative bliss. H/T queues in Block 38 were ridiculous. Club need to sort it out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Cedric probably thought it was his time to leave this summer. Ideas above his station. Definite parallels with Fonte in terms of absence from in-house club media. Lemina my other suspect for causing a stink behind the scenes. All the stuff about him missing training because his wife is heavily pregnant - still no sign of the sprog though. Cryptic crap on instagram about ‘trusting the process’ and he also seems an arrogant tit. Anyone not sat through one of the countless Instagram stories of him miming to a song in his car and wanted to smash their fist through their phone? That awful hashtag of his can do one as well. He doesn’t need to be the quickest as his anticipation levels are very good and he made a number of well-timed interceptions. Liked how aggressive and physical he was as well as his calmness on the ball and I think he’ll be a good fit for us.

Austin should not be starting PL games for us. Fine as an impact player for last 20 mins who might scramble a goal in but his contribution was pathetic today. Can’t press, can’t hold the ball up, could barely make 5 yard passes. Seems to relish being fouled so he can steal a breather. Complete embarrassment in terms of fitness levels. Cheers. So he’s done both knees twice? Very worrying. Hopefully Klopp’s words are right about him being in the best condition he’s been in, though doubt he’d say otherwise. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes but the total agreed fee is going to be determined by the remaining length of the contract with the selling club, which in this case is two years not one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It’s more like a deferred transfer though isn’t it? So the price reflects the fact that he has two years left on his contract not one, and that we aren’t paying the fee up front. Not really the same as Clyne or Wanyama. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wasn’t aware of his pre-Liverpool injuries. Where have you got that info from? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was wary of a permanent signing but a loan with obligation to buy obviously mitigates some of the risk, given Ings’ terrible luck with injuries. If we can get Austin and Ings playing together then at least that is a partnership that has proven to work well, albeit at Championship level. Given the various options we had among our other four strikers I’m not sure there is any natural partnership or chemistry between any of them - though to some extent that hasn’t really been worked on until Hughes came in. Overall, a good window and glad it’s ended on a positive note, with no notable outgoings either. Looking forward to Sunday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I get your point about the overall quality of the squad being eroded over the last few seasons but it’s a bit premature to judge whether the likes of Elyounoussi, Armstrong or Vestergaard would make that team or not. Maybe with hindsight we will also judge this to have been a decent window. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Realistically, I think it will take a couple more transfer windows to fix some of the mistakes of the past two seasons and to ship the deadwood out. Hopefully the outfield signings we have made this summer will improve the first XI rather than just bloat out the squad. Gunn also appears to be a promising talent by all accounts. I think we’ve made a decent start to the squad overhaul but was hoping for at least one striker, so I guess I’m left feeling slightly underwhelmed. 10th to 14th would certainly do me fine.
