  1. Nope. In order to qualify for getting compensation the out of contract player has to be offered a new contract by his club but then refuse it and sign for someone else. If we hadn't had offered a new contract to Dyer he would have walked away from the club for nowt.....
  2. Well indeed. If we had kept the second coming of Bill Shankley that is Nigel Pearson, with him being such a managerial legend, he wouldn't have needed any coaches to assist him.....
  3. You don't seem to understand the situation. If we HADN'T offered him a new contract he would have walked away from the club for nothing. By offering him a new contract and then selling him we will make some much needed cash for the club. At the moment Shef Utd and paying his wages so he isn't costing us anything and so even if we was sold to a L2 team for £50,000 this is £50,000 the club would not have had if we hadn't offered him a new contract. So you couldn't be more wrong to say it was a "**** poor decision". I'm glad you aren't running the club!!
  4. Unfortunately this was always going to be the case. As fans all we can hope for is that the players that will be flogged in January are: John Rasiak Saga and maybe Skacel and NOT: Schnierdlin Surman Lallana
  5. There's loads of offices around the Mad Stad that do matchday parking for around a fiver. There's a big car park on the right, just before the stadium, as you come from the M4 that always has spaces and is only a 2 min walk away.
  6. Your posts seem to contain quite a few references to what other people would do. Are you some form of clairevoyant? Funnily enough, you are completely wrong. If the decision had been mine I would have stuck with Pearson this season after we had stayed up. However, having said that, both Pearson and JP are two very average managers plying their trade in the lower leagues of English football. Unfortunately for a club in our position we can do no better than them. One has great football knowledge and played in a WC final but no experience in English football and then other has no real experience of being a manager but good experience of being an assistant. So it really is a toss up to who would do the better job given the same resources. What does make me laugh is that many on here seem to be viewing Pearson as the second coming of Bill Shankley, solely for the reason of getting a chance enduldge in Lowe bashing. As I said above, ANY REASONABLE FAN could see that given our financial situation survival was the only realistic aim for this season and so if Pearson had stayed on and we were where we are now (ie. still in with a shout of staying up) then I would no more be calling for him to be sacked that I am for JP to be sacked. As people are saying money (or lack of) is the real reason we are where we are so trying to pin the blame on JP (or even Lowe) is pointless.
  7. What are you expecting? We can argue all day about who can be blamed for the financial situation the club is in but the facts are that we are in a dire financial state. This meant that everyone that could be sold in the Summer was sold and those we could not sell were, where possible, shipped out on loan to save on wages. What was left was a squad of youth team players and a handful of free transfers/Bosmans and this was always going to be the ase no matter who was the Chairman (unless Crouch had stayed and was stubborn enough not to cut cost in which case we would be in administration by now) Given the squad we have it is completely to be expected that we are struggling at the wrong end of the table but at this stage we are not mired at the bottom of the table and have every hope of staying up which was the only aim that any realistic fan could have for this season knowing the financial realities. What is ludicrous is the thought that the managerial legend that is 3 wins from 16 Perason could be doing substantially better given the same resources. If Stern John's shot had gone a foot the other way he would have got us relegated last season with a far stronger squad than we have now yet some seem to think we would be doing swimmingly if he was still here! FFS, Arsene Wenger would be hard pushed to take our squad to mid-table safety.
  8. I'm sure Pearson has every chance of replacing Fergueson, Darren that is...........
  9. The great 'young' (well 45) manager Pearson eh? Such great potential that before we gave him a job, the last time he was a boss was when he just about saved Carlisle from relegation to the Conference in the 90s? If he doesn't get Leicester promoted he'll be sacked.
  10. Indeed. I beleive Branfoot was ousted by fan power after he failed to retain the European Cup when Barcelona did us on penalties in the final. Ah for the halycion pre-Lowe days. Say what you want about Branfoot but I think the the 3 League titles, 2 FA Cups and a European Cup that he won us will be a record that will take some time to beat.....
  11. Is it 2006 already???
  12. And Spurs... I'm sure they could match the originally posted list just from the personnel changes from getting rid of Ramos, Poyet and co and replacing them with Redknapp and the ever growing list of coaches he is employing....
  13. If we're talking expense notes then we'll have to include Lawrie 'The Wallet' McMoneyme in the list.
  14. Talk about scraping the barrell for things to criticise the club for! I'm sure if you talked to any football fan in the country he too could reel off a list as long as your arm of members of backroom and coaching staff that has passed through the doors in the past decade all of who will have been paid up in full when they were deemed surplus to requirements.....
  15. Since the days of Saints Forever there must have been about twenty different face lifts for the OS and the consensus of opinion always seems to be that it is not liked! Either people subscribe to the 'All change is bad' way of thinking or people of football message boards just like moaning about everything!
  16. Killer has become the Tesco Value range version of Ledley King.... I assume that we won't be able to play Pearce against Reading?
  17. Shouldn't that have been 20 footballers most likely to spend time in prison?
  18. I assume that you are a trolling Portsmouth fan?
  19. After we slowly but surely slipped from our top half of the table in Div 1 position of the early 80s we became regular relegation contenders throughout the 90s and had it not been for MLT would have certainly been relegated. Lowe managed to arrest this decline and get us back to being a top half table team under Hoddle and WGS (despite this period co-inciding with the decline of MLT's abilility on the pitch.) However some seem to be re-writing history to make it appear we were a top 4 club when Lowe came to power in 97 and that he presided over a steady and measured decline to relegation by his nasty business first approach to football. This is of course total rubbish and up to the point WGS left there was no indication at all that we were anywhere near to the point of having to worry about the threat of relegation....
  20. If we get a few million for him in Jan it could well the difference between going into administration and not....
  21. The piece was on the bbc web site so you can't really blame the OS for doing a PR job.
  22. Your last sentence hit it on the head. We are in the CCC where tv revenues are measured in thousands of pounds as opposed to the tens of millions in the Prem. In the pre-credit crunch days what you said was true, if a person was looking to get a piece of the Prem League pie rather than spending £100m to acheive this as the Icelandics had to do at West Ham it is far cheaper to buy a club in the CCC for 10m and then invest 10-20m more in the hope of getting promoted. However, the worse the credit crunch gets and the more in debt we get the less and less likely it is that this will happen. Football is never the best on investments even in good economic times, much less now.
  23. He'll bring some much needed experience to the team! Welcome aboard Boyle! I'll bet he'll be rooming with Pulis!
  24. Pearson won all of 3 games then? And some on here would seem to have him as the next coming of Bill Shankley.....
  25. In the US, for attendence to sporting fixtures they always give a total and then put after it in brackets the number of 'no shows'.
