  1. Reading this should at least dispel the daft notion that he's clueless or 'out of his depth', but his belief in tight attacking organisation does smack of Van Gaal at United.
  2. A *bit*. A little bit. Then we go to Man City three days later...
  3. I'd be surprised if they let Conte oversee so much transfer activity given the summer he had and the fact that he'd on the way out.
  4. What's in the training gallery?
  5. That interview was given before two brilliant seasons under Koeman.
  6. Hard to look past Nuno and Chris Wilder, but I don't watch enough to know whether either would fit us or would come. I highly doubt Wolves would feel obliged to let Nuno go.
  7. The majority are actually league matches if you want to tot them up, and there are more that I could add. Europe and cup runs are by-products of being a good top flight team. This is what we did for three years in the Premier League and it's what I want to see again. I can understand the longing for relegation if you're one of the clubs that's been rubbish for years and clearly has no ambition beyond staying up (Sunderland et al), but that's not us. A few more years of crap football and maybe I'd reconsider, but we're not resigned to that fate in the slightest. Anyway, no relegated club has a divine right to succeed in the Championship.
  8. Good plan. Can you think of any reasons why the top six manage to prise valued players away but we don't? These players are sold by big clubs for a reason but also made it to big clubs for a reason. It's usually because they're good, but perhaps don't turn out to make the first XI of a top club. There's no shame in that, though I do wonder whether you can upset the balance of a team by bringing in too many of these players.
  9. It's funny how everyone talks about a lack of potential replacements. I can't name any because I only watch the Premier League, but Saints watch them and should know about the good coaches in the Championship and across Europe. We shouldn't be in the business of digging out the stale, old managers who get talked about for every job here.
  10. Speak for yourself. I'll remember reaching a Wembley final and the San Siro, the victories at Old Trafford/Anfield/Stamford Bridge/Arnhem, the Liverpool 3-2, Sunderland 8-0, Arsenal 4-0, just as well as any of the great days in the lower leagues.
  11. Yes, it would be a bad thing. People would probably lose their jobs.
  12. Adkins is a daft fan fantasy. None of your options are much good but that's by far the worst.
  13. Can anyone name a club executive in the Premier League who gives regular interviews?
  14. As per the Mail on Sunday. First time since the Liebherr takeover that I can remember an owner's opinion on players getting into the press. You'd have to hope we don't intend to sell more than one of them in the same window and - obviously - that replacements are on the way regardless.
  15. Katharina wasn't making those calls before.
  16. In, obviously.
  17. I absolutely loathe this myth that the players don't care. We've all seen teams who don't care and what happens to them - they get tonked, even by smaller teams. We may be on a bad run - and maybe we're not on that huge wave of team spirit and togetherness we had a couple of years ago - but we're still a hard working and well drilled team.
  18. Can you point to a moment in the last five years where we've been short in central midfield?
  19. Okay. Why do you think the club have failed to deduce this?
  20. Okay. What's he done wrong at Southampton? This is an honest question. The record of his past clubs is poor but nobody seems able to tell me what he's doing at work, now, that is problematic, or why the club has employed an assistant coach who is apparently the source of so many problems.
  21. Don't think a senior job under Abramovich can be identical to any outside Chelsea.
  22. Can anyone explain to me what Eric Black has done wrong? I'm baffled by the abuse he gets, given how little we know about the work of coaches.
  23. Exactly right. He was lucky not to give away a penalty. Pochettino feels he can get the most out of his (obvious) ability. We or Paulo may not have felt the same way, which is fair enough. Doesn't make selling the wrong decision.
  24. I'm not suggesting Romeu is better than Wanyama, only that he was a good replacement in the circumstances. They can't all be world beaters and Romeu has been very good for us.
  25. Clasie was seen as the Schneiderlin replacement and Cork was a bit of a spare part when he left. Reed said in one of those behind-the-scenes videos that we were ready for Wanyama to leave because we had Romeu in as a replacement.
