I wouldn't support Saints at all if my dad had the same commitment as some of you lot to his original club. He stopped following Aberdeen and switched to Saints when he moved to England. Incomprehensible to most but I'm very grateful.

They sound ambitious to me.

Sometimes I feel alone in not having my expectations raised when Saints say they're working on a deal, or don't rule it out. If we'd played down the rumours then Reed would have got more stick for not even trying to get him.

If a player wants to move to England but can't get a move to the top 7/8 then this season they're taking a relegation gamble by definition, the way the league is. We're clearly not as attractive as a year or two ago but we won't be a turnoff for everyone. What matters is how we approach the relegation release/wages in contract negotiations, which I'm admittedly not confident about.

That's harsh. He was great at Sunderland but struggles under the pressure at Anfield. At 29 (compared to Boruc's 37) he can easily refind some form. The main barrier for me would be cost.

Can't blame him, really. It would be a shame for him to end his time here with only that opening run to show for it, but we can't pretend it's worked since then.

It's a bummer to miss out on Walcott but I don't understand how anyone can be angry at the club for losing out to Everton. They're a better team and bigger, richer club. It's not like he's going to Swansea.

I don't know this guy from Monaco but I find it hard to imagine Gallagher keeping him on the bench at Birmingham.
