"I thought Nelson Mandela was already dead!" © my mates (thank god) misses
-
Was a great fight and unbelievable atmosphere, I'm really hoping to get to the rematch (assuming there is one)... Groves fought a hell of a lot better than I thought he could and Froch showed why he is world champion, although he was clearly losing, he foudn a way. The stoppage may have helped Groves get a rematch, but it was a massive shame that he didn't get a chance to either ride out the storm or lose properly. I've heard a few people say that Froch was a bit of a nob in his post fight interview, but it must be hard to be on your PR A game when you've taken as many shots as he had. There were a few boos for Froch after the fight but I think that was because Groves was shown on the big screen going over to shake Froch's hand and seemed to get nothing in response except a "**** off" But still, Groves got his Rocky moment, Froch still has his titles, the fans may well get to see it again. I hope that Groves win the rematch as a nice passing of the torch moment... I wouldn't blame Froch for retiring or taking a different fight. He has nothing to prove to anyone.

I went up for the Hatton "comeback" fight but were very unorganised. We had to stay in Bolton (couldn't get a hotel in Manchester) and had a mate on crutches which made finding a decent boozer a bit of a nightmare. This time we're staying in Manchester centre and I believe I'll be heading to the Northern Quarter... I hear thats the best place for beers and good times...

anyone else travelling up? Looks like a really good undercard, hoping to make a really decent weekend of it. Hopefully Manchester doesn't dissapoint.

Yeah, as much as I sympathise with the fans like you who have forked out money it does look like this is unavoidable. Fury now going after Deontay Wilder as a possible WBC eliminator. Shows what a sorry state the Heavyweight division is in...

Surely you would agree that his development is very difficult to judge, what with him being signed as a League 1 player and now he is a squad player in the Premier League... He must be doing something right, Adkins and Pochettino both had him as a squad player when so many others were deemed not good enough.
-
I don't think anyone is getting "misty eyed"... Just think that the instant "doesn't matter, hes **** anyway..." attitude is a little unfair to the bloke.
-
My misses reckons that Jack Cork wears short shorts... I don't know if that is attacking him or not, but thought I'd give it a mention.
-
I apologise if this starts a debate that is completely off topic, but please don't put Guly in that list... The bloke was bought while we were in League 1, and no matter what you think about him at this level, he has been a hell of a signing... There I wanted to say it, I did, I'm sorry if this opens a can of worms...

Charities & the sh!ttest sponsorship effort you’ve ever seen?
JN9 replied to Spudders's topic in The Lounge
My main problem with Movember is that people seem to have forgotten about the whole charity aspect of it. You just end up with a load of idiots walking around with crap facial hair in the name of comedy rather than charity... i've also found the sponsored 'wear a shirt of your football teams rival for a day' quite strange... I mean really, is that worth giving someone money for? -
Completely agree... perhaps I'm just being niave but I see no particularly bad reason for the filming. I've also not seen any coppers filming for a few years now. Or am I just not very observant?

I'm not sure that you 'do' the twerk on someone. I thought you simply twerked someone... I may be wrong, but I doubt it.

Only people born in England should play for England
JN9 replied to Viking Warrior's topic in The Lounge
Also born in Hanover, but I don't think that is the point that Jack was making... I happen to agree with him 100% I think that the point he was making was quite a simple one and I can't believe that people are even suggesting that what he said was at all racist or xenophonic, its ridiculous. People know what nationality they are and I very much doubt that Januzaj has any real want to play for England. If he did I can only see it being from a commercial point of view. As far as I can see he is waiting to see if Kosovo get accepting by FIFA and then he ill play international footbal for them, and fair play to him (assuming I'm right) that he is waiting to play for the team that he feels he most belongs to. -
Both me and the misses thought it was a corner... So whatever it was that Mr Dean saw, so did I...

Hard not to love the man... His kicking was a bit dodgy yesterday but thats nit picking. He seems to have an arrogance about him that I really like. I seem to remember the game against Arsenal last year when he made a few errors and he just laughed them off where as they may have played on another goalies mind. The fact that hes clearly mental also helps...

I'm pretty sure that Pompey would come under Sussex... I may be wrong though. Frank Turner wrote an excellent song called Wessex Boy, which is a little irrelavent but still, thought might be of some interest to some.
-
You're alright... Not sure who you're trying to fool with this paper, paint and crayons talk though...
-
May I ask how you know this?

By the sounds of it it was a freak accident. It is not unusual for fighters to be sparring a week before a fight plus he was wearing a head guard. Even if he wanted to the British Boxing Board wouldn't have let him fight with that cut. One punch and it would be open and the fight would be completely pointless. This has nothing to do with his heart, he sounded genuinely gutted.
-
Not sure whether or not to take the Mick, just in case you're infact making a joke yourself! Plus I'm not particularly witty...
-
I think sky sports are doing a good job a selling a fight that should never be PPV... think Haye V Harrison. I hope i'm proved wrong though.
-
Anyone got any thoughts on this one? I personally can't see anything other than a quick finish from Haye. £15 very badly spent...

I thought someone might bring this up... I don't really know too much about it as I wasn't really watching football at this time. In fact I was an armchair Villa fan at that time. I've been going since we were relegated into League 1. I fancied going to a live game so me and the missus went down (I think we were playing Rochdale, but I might be wrong), really enjoyed it and have been enjoying the ride ever since... Sadly I fear, like others, that the ride may be over quite shortly when we hit mid table mediocraty and then the only way is down... I can't really see anything else happening unless there is much more investment...
