Total Saints Podcast - Episode 50 (with Adam Leitch, Daily Echo)
gr00031 replied to TotalSaintsPod's topic in The Saints
Really enjoying these pods. Cover good content with insightful opinion. A good additional to my commute. Keep up the good work, thanks -
Just saw this on twitter: Errors leading to a goal in the top 5 European Leagues this season: Arsenal (11) Real Betis (10) Sevilla (9) Benevento (9) Southampton (9) 9 goals! Appreciate you'll always have defenders making mistake, but 9 goals out of 41 conceded suggests around 20% of all our goals conceded are from mistakes.

People have short memories. The seasons after getting relegated from the Prem weren't as good as we make out to be. We had one good season (whereby we finished 6th - lost of pens in playoff semis)... The following seasons of bankruptcy threats & just surviving from the championship weren't great & pretty depressing really... The two years where we got promoted from league 1 to the prem where fantastic - but also rare. Getting out the championship is horrid - best to be avoided IMO

Could be some marginal efficiency gains from turning off the concourse lights at 4am imo

I like this team

Amazing what being linked to Crystal Palace can do to someone

I listened to it, enjoyed the content. One suggestion that could make it run a bit smoother is to prep the answers / what you're going to say before hand (if you do this then maybe more practice?), every point seemed to be a surprise. Whilst you don't want it to be scripted, I think a better informed response comes across better. Also knowing your stuff prior to it, whilst no one is expected to remember every result ever, debating whether soton won 4-0 / 4-1 (it was 4-0) against Coventry back in 2012 wasn't too interesting. Another potential thing is to say / debate something which the rest of us don't particularly know or pay attention too. Any fan can say generic things, I think the pod should offer something slightly different, which is a bit more researched than potentially saying the attackers looked better etc. Hope the above is useful, I appreciate you guys are still new to it. I enjoy listening.

We haven't had any stand out fixture win really this season. Under Koeman we had that 3-1 win away against Wham. We of course beat them away this season, but they weren't really the same team in their new stadium. Apart from that, away form has been really bad, and the home form has been OK, remaining undefeated in majority of games, just not really doing anything special to get the crowd off their feet. Lack of goals last night means a new striker is an absolute priority, who could potentially link the midfield and attack more. Results like yesterday it's sometimes hard to blame the manager entirely. If Jrod scored a sitter we'd have won... Sometimes the players need to take responsibility. -
There were loads of away fans in the home end when Saints visiting vitesse arnhem (me being one of them). As long as there isn't any trouble, what's the issue?

Potentially got the penalty for Everton wrong when VVD tackled Lukaku.. Still can't work out if it's foul, VVD got the ball but kinda missed it first time. Reckon some refs could have given a penalty for missing the ball first time. Maybe
-
JWP was hopeless. Lightweight & added nothing. Barely noticed him first half. Hojbjerg has to start ahead of him surely, we looked such a better team when he was on
-
Yesterday you could get odds of around 4/6 for Rudi Carcia, I've just looked today and it's drifted out to around evens... FBD has dropped form 6s to 4s...

I imagine the new fella will want to bring his own staff anyway

Best meltdown for me would be to get relegated to league 2, would give me an opportunity to go see some of the grounds I wasn't able to when we were previously down there. Then win back to back leagues for 4 straight years, then in the following season win the quadruple, then get relegated the season after and repeat the sequence indefinitely.

Dejan Lovren left out of Croatia squad for Euros - shame
-
Poch is also being tipped to coach Real Madrid in the future after transforming Tottenham from Europa League regulars to Premier League contenders in under two seasons. regulars?
-
You'd get some pretty decent odds for three away wins tonight I reckon

I subscribed, but doesn't appear to be updated regularly... I'd download it every week if it were. I tend to download various newspaper podcasts and listen out for their normal 30 seconds on the saints

As long as we don't lose to Villa.. If we did, surely we'd have the worst return against Villa from sides in the top 10 this season? Need to win those games if you want to compete with the top

The lads who were trying to sing the Cedric song were doing it constantly for around 15 minutes away at Arsenal. Think it's safe to say everyone else nearby was getting annoyed by their constant repeating of the song (well I was anyway)

I got 39, missed some easy ones, gutted

Just proves even more how vital it is to take your chances when you're on top in this league. You don't get many and to waste just on can be the difference between tpinning and losing, very disappointed... I've been hoping for a while the players themselves would see these type of results aren't acceptable and put it right, but they don't, and a few don't seem to care... concerned
