Was just thinking this myself. Is there a reason this thread has appeared? A rumour perhaps or just a bit of fun "what if" speculation?

Has this potential move been "confirmed" anywhere else other than the Daily Mail? Only reason i ask is that yesterday I read that it was Nzonzi from Stoke that was the potential mover to Palace. Today Mark Hughes has spoken out saying he is going nowhere etc etc.. So is this just a case of the daily mail destabilisation machine clutching at straws as we get to the proverbial bottom of the barrel in terms of the player "exodus"? FWIW, if he does go then I understand the reasons why but yes it will be a shame. In reality i think any player leaving that has served us well during the last 5 glorious years is going to feel like crap but we move on..

Interesting insight & explains a lot - thanks for taking the time to write this up & very much appreciated from this corner. With regard to other clubs gutting deals done much quicker then i can only assume that either the player has very limited options, or it is a deal higher up the "food chain" or the player really does want to join that club i.e RL to liverpoo

Morgan has changed since he started playing for France....seriously though, the way i feel right now, I'd get them all in a room & tell whoever wants to go, just **** off right now. I'd rather play with a group of academy kids & club legends like Kelvin Davis than this bunch of ****s. They are a disgrace to the Saints shirt.

Sky news transfer centre news ticker clearly showing that MS & JR WILL be leaving the club this summer. I guess we either mis heard or sky sports news typist has cocked up?!
-
I know he is going to get an absolute grilling on there but fair play & respect to him for having the balls to face up to the situation & address the fans.Obviously the usual cliches will come out as well as people remarking on "what wasn't said" but am looking forward to what he has to say on behalf of the club.

You've got to feel sorry for the next signing thats unveiled for us. Anything other than genuine world class player is going to be met with a feeling of underwhelm plus a big dose of suspicion that they are only going to be here as a stepping stone after seeing how easy it is to force a move.

Classic Rik Mayall.. love it!

Its in the "Ings" thread
-
Its still there - https://twitter.com/LovrenDavor

you've jinxed it now! fully expect bids incoming within next 48hrs joking aside, did i read somewhere that the current exodus of players are all managed by the same agent? Could explain why it is the same names being linked & none of the others are?

Liverpool seem to be taking the transfer market by the horns, I just wonder if its all going to go horribly wrong for them(wishful thinking) along the lines of Spurs buying a shed load last season. Also, how are they going to manage the current first teamers who are going to get less game time?
-
Was there any confirmation of why he didn't play last night? Seems strange that Saints were quick to put out a picture of Clyne but nothing on Lovren (unless i missed it). Was he watching the game?
-
Apologies for bumping this thread... did he actually turn up at Staplewood to train on his own this week as indicated or is he still out on a "sick note"?

Its an interesting one for sure but although we will see slight increases in commercial revenue here & there I think we aren't going to see huge improvements for at least a few years & this has to be a sustained "slog" of a journey to convince potential overseas partners of our potential. I'm sure somebody better informed than I on here could answer better but given the Man City had massive investment & focus in global branding, you still don't see too many city shirts being worn abroad (if any!). Scoushampton, man u, chelsea & arsenal are all definite global brands but even man city on the surface are struggling to gain a global following. For us, it will happen but not quickly.

Totally agree at this stage. I think we need more than 2 solid premiership seasons to start attracting some decent big name sponsors.- not saying Veho aren't decent btw just that they have probably got the better end of the deal. If we find ourselves scrapping mid table to the bottom end of the table then we will probably end up attracting the likes of payday co's & betting firms, but 10th & above on a regular basis should start attracting better sponsors. Also, as a side thought, payday firms are going to be capped on what they can charge which reportedly will halve their profits. I wonder if this will have an impact on some sponsors not being able to fulfill their obligations?

Just a thought, could it have been the original intention when doing the full page spread, that he/ pr firm was going to do a full page write up however maybe legalities got in the way of what he wanted to say or dare i even suggest once the club got whiff of the echo spread, their legal team was straight onto it to remind AL & his PR team of certain things? Thus the much shortened "quote", which doesnt really say anything & doesn't upset anyone (legally that is!).

grr.. bloomin autocorrect! my above post should have read as in bold...!

Apologies as its another internet rumour but according to "sources" Koemans top priority i to speak to Spider straight after his WC finishes to try & convince him that he does need to move to fulfil his ambitions & will offer him the captains armband. My opinion on the spider situation fwiw.. If any deal was in place prior to the WC then this would need to be reviewed anyway as prior to WC he was only a standby player & due to a fortunate set of circumstances he is now playing. Most people speak of players values going up if they have a good world cup & spider is no exception. If he is going then I guess we are already reevaluating any deal which could potentially keep him here anyway if other clubs shy away from an increased valuation. Judging from his comments, I think he could be persuaded to stay & spearhead the next generation of Saints which hopefully break Mopos record season (in time..)

Should Ronald Koeman and coaching team quit Twitter?
FloatingbridgeSaint replied to saint lard's topic in The Saints
The wonderful thing about twitter is you can choose what you wish to see or not. I suspect he is using a smartphone to post directly to twitter & therefore will not see any of the replies unless he actually goes looking for them. I think the only way he will actually see something pop up in his "newsfeed" is if someone sends him a direct message which isn't the same as mentioning him in a twitter post. To receive a direct message he would need to be following that individual & i reckon he isn't daft enough to follow anyone who he doesn't know.I pretty much guarantee either the club or Roko will have someone who does actually monitor social media for fan reaction (under an anonymous name of course) & will then feedback the filtered results. As for rude/ trolling type replies to twitter most celbs/ sportspeople are getting wise to this now & there seems to be a fresh approach of actually belittling the poster. I recall Rickie Lambert doing an interview like this recently where he responded to the "less filtered" comments on twitter about him & also on a recent Us chat show, jimmy kimmel where celebs responded to tweets about them http://www.newageman.co.uk/videos/celebrities-read-mean-tweets-about-them so in a nutshell i think he will be fine. -
Not fussed at all with either LS or AL going tbh. I recall our first season back in PL wasn't exactly an amazing performance from Adam plus Guan's comments on another thread reference his stats not being overly impressive (can't recall the exact details). A couple of things I am wondering about though; 1. If his medical was this afternoon then why has any announcement been delayed? is it SFC deciding to spread the bad news across several days or are they planning on offsetting the departure with an incoming early next week. 2. Who will be the next club captain? Granted, this probably deserves a thread of its own but if the rumours are true about Lovren & spider leaving then who exactly is going to be our new captain? 3. Are liverpool taking the p*** by going after lovren too? At this rate it is going to be Saints "A" team vs Saints reserves on opening day of season! If the lovren to liverpool rumours are accurate then Reed really needs to slam his foot down. As a side note, on a Liverpool transfer rumours site, when commenting on the anticipated move by AL it was suggested by one of the "Eds" who claim to be itk, that AL was happy to stay provided we reinvested in the squad however something in the last 7 days made him change his mind. Roko also wanted to keep him. It was suggested by those itk, that we are simply on a "balancing the books" exercise currently & have no real interest in pushing forward.

Wasn't one of his areas to be looking at the commercial side of the club & how we can grow as a "brand" overseas. imo, putting Les Reed in front of the camera is a good move as he will be more used to the devious ways of the press & can deal with it better & let RK deal with expanding the commercial operations which does not require him to be 24/7 at SMS. Yes, he spouted a lot of cliche phrases & motivational powwow but he did seem to buy into the whole concept of being a Saint & what that means to us.

Was thinking this earlier. I know Spurs were linked with RoKo back in December but given that he was a free agent after May then why didn't Spurs go for him? Or perhaps they did & he knocked them back? Also wondering how Spurs fans feel as & when this appointment gets made? I suspect that a few of them may feel they have the bum end of the deal (in the short term of course)

One of the eds at http://www.southamptonrumours.co.uk is suggesting that it is Steve Bruce. Scroll down to 12th June posts. Don't know if he is on a wind up or not but I for one would be seriously underwhelmed by this.
