Excuse my possible ignorance on the matter, but it was a considerable time since I finished my education and the number of Universities has increased substantially since many a polytechnic was upgraded to be called a university. But surely a degree at a certain level is the same as that at the same level at any other university isn't it? Or is it different from the schools system whereby a GCSE or A Level obtained from a state school is directly equivalent to one obtained in one of the top Public Schools? If that is indeed the case, then you come across as a bit of a snob if I might say so.

You seem to have airbrushed Bliar and Brown out, who were part of your original quote. Why's that? If there are sufficient numbers of deranged old codgers like you added to the pimply naive yoof who would vote for that bunch of incompetent Marxists who comprise the Labour front bench, then scarily they might stand a chance in government of ruining the country and turning us into something akin to Venezuela or Zimbabwe.
-
No, you're thinking of Roland Rat
-
Were any of them loopy Marxists? I think that you're becoming senile or a deranged nutter if you for one second believe that a government comprising of Corbyn as PM, Abbott as Home Secretary, McDonnell as Chancellor and Thornberry as Foreign Minister wouldn't be the worst government in our entire political history. May was bad, but nowhere near as bad as that lot would be.

I understand that the official on VAR was Mike Dean, so what else should we expect from the useless tw*t?

I've left commenting until I've calmed down enough and having read through all the comments, yours is closest to how I feel now. I believe I read pre-match Hassenhuttl expressing the opinion that we needed to be a bit meaner as a team, and Bertrand was eager to impress him that the message had penetrated. Regrettably, having lost our left back, Hassenhuttl had to address our defence with a player short, and didn't change things until we were already five goals down. The defeat was a capitulation, a humiliation, and the players were like rabbits caught in the headlights. Personally, for the Cup match, we are on a hiding to nothing against Man City, so I would replace the entire defence and some of the other positions with the youngsters to send a message to the first team defence that a performance like theirs last night is not acceptable. Gunn should be given a break too, to give a chance for McCarthy. This performance might be a blip, or it might presage a freefall to relegation. How we respond in the next few matches will show which it is. Even if we lose to Man City next week as expected, if we show some determination and give them a hard game, then there is still some hope. I give Ralph until the New Year to get us out of the bottom three and then Gao has to find some money down the back of the sofa to urgently improve the defence. If there are disruptive players in the dressing room, they need to be got rid of then.

You can bandy about as many childish insults as you like. It doesn't reflect well on you at all. It has been patently obvious that the Civil Service hasn't a clue about negotiations, as was amply demonstrated by the naivety shown by Commie Ollie Robbins and the hapless Vicar's daughter who was gullible and spineless enough to believe that he was up to the job. We have had three and a half years since June 23rd 2016 to both train and headhunt people with trade negotiation experience, but why do we need a Civil Servant to negotiate on our behalf anyway? Somebody like Crawford Falconer has plenty of top level negotiating experience. We should put somebody like him in charge. Failing that, then Shurlock can advise somebody on how to go about it. Or maybe you, perhaps.
-
They'll obviously have to come to you for advice then, won't they? Thank God that the Leave campaign didn't have to face you telling voters of the dire consequences of a vote to leave the EU, or they might not have won the Referendum vote. Or maybe they would have won anyway, because they had become fed up of so-called experts telling them what to think, or they were too thick to understand what they were being told in the first place. Isn't it ironic that there is nobody in Government capable of negotiating a FTA with the EU, when we have somebody here with that expertise on a Football Forum.

Good news. Things coming nicely to the boil for a clean break Brexit, aided and abetted by the likes of EU collaborators Letwin, Benn and Bercow.
-
Thank God that simpleton Corbyn just has a knee-jerk reaction to rejecting anything the Tories decide on and will hopefully reject this surrender treaty, along with the SNP and other fringe groupings on the left. Clean Brexit, here we come.

I hope that they bought one way tickets.

Jo Swinson (and the Death of the Liberal Party)
Wes Tender replied to Tamesaint's topic in The Lounge
I'm surprised that there is no mention that I can see of the substantial payments into Swinson's husband's organisation from the EU and from Soro's organisation. Surely this constitutes a vested interest in her desire for the UK to remain in the UK, but as far as I know, she hasn't declared it. How strange that the media isn't all over it. -
You patronising stuck up snob.

Do you mean Bercow, the collaborator?

Now that a week has passed since the Skates were humbled by their mortal enemies in their own backyard, there have been a few You Tube vids surfacing from the Blue Few. Here is a vid from a skates fan who is remarkably prescient in what he calls himself on his YouTube video blogs - fournilwrittenalloverit! Naturally he had his fair share of Saints fans taking the **** about that, but also a few compliments about him and the way that he presented it. Some skates are simply just misguided, rather than being knuckle-draggers.

The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.
Wes Tender replied to CB Fry's topic in The Lounge
Jeff seems to be having an absolute mare. I can't see his posts unless somebody quotes him, (please don't or I'll just stop following the tread) but I can tell that he's having a torrid time of it from posters' responses to his posts. -
The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.
Wes Tender replied to CB Fry's topic in The Lounge
If Boris wins the election, that will be the democratic choice. Just as the referendum was the democratic choice. I realise that you despise democracy if it doesn't suit your agenda. You're truly pathetic. -
The Skates had nothing to play for and I can tell you for nothing that that's what they got. Nothing. They had their chances, but the gulf in quality and ability showed. They fluffed their chances and we took ours. Once we got over a nervy start, we gradually gained confidence and gave them a sucker punch against the run of play. Once Ings had scored, our confidence soared and when Ings bagged his second from a great through ball assist from Obafemi, we were set up comfortably for the second half. The Skates came out looking to redress the balance, but once again we took control with some neat passes around the back, tiring their strikers who were chasing shadows. We bided our time and when the opportunities arose, we flooded forward out wide, stretching their defence. Ings once again was instrumental, making a beautiful pass through to Cedric, who had drifted into the box unmarked for a simple tap in. The match was pretty well out of reach now for the Skates and when Obafemi made way for Redmond, that wasn't what the Skate fans or players wanted to see. Sure enough, Redmond scored a lovely goal to wrap it all up. Fresh legs with the pace that Long brings, allowed Ings his standing ovation from the Saints fans and to offer a threat going forward as well as his usual energy breaking up play. Apart from the goal scorers with a special MOTM performance from Ings, good performances from the rest of the team, although Adams should have enjoyed the opportunities far better than he did. The back four were sound, as was McCarthy with a couple of vital saves. Romeu put in another tremendous performance next to Hojbjerg and Ward-Prowse. Tomorrow will be a tale of two cities, all smiles and happiness in Southampton, and glum despair and embarrassment in Portsmouth.

Jo Swinson (and the Death of the Liberal Party)
Wes Tender replied to Tamesaint's topic in The Lounge
Swinson's hypocrisy is breathtaking. https://brexitcentral.com/the-hypocritical-lib-dems-want-to-ignore-the-result-of-the-brexit-referendum-they-demanded-a-decade-ago/ Add to that the cringe worthy car crash dismantling of her on Good Morning Britain by Piers Morgan, and she isn't having a very good time of it at the moment. -
I love the irony of them accusing our players of going down with the merest touch, when despite being pulled back outrageously by their defender, Djenepo stayed on his feet to score the winning goal. And the commentary I was listening to praised Mason for allowing the game to flow, instead of blowing for every niggly little foul, as many of them being made by Sheffield Utd. Thank god he didn't blow for that blatant foul on Djenepo.

What a sad loss. His engineering company was a customer of mine so I met him a few times. He was a true Saints fan and in a position to make a real contribution to the club in our time of need.

Brexit - enter at your own risk. How appropriate. Angry remoaners dominate the thread, shouting down any opinion on Brexit that runs counter to their side's agenda to thwart the democratic majority in the referendum. Most of the other brexiteers on here are just fed-up with the constant childish abuse, so they just can't be arsed any longer to post their opinions. Just look at yourselves. Just for using the adjective "endure" to describe my opinion of how I felt about the EU since Maastricht, I get all this abuse. It seems that Soggy and Sheaf Saint ought to consult a dictionary before assuming that I meant it to mean that it caused me great hardship, or to wonder why the citizens of the UK who felt the same didn't riot in the streets. Ridiculous and worthy of contempt. Shurlock his usual obnoxious, juvenile self, sinking to Jeff's depths, making it personal with assumptions about my family. I won't plumb those depths by retaliating in that vein. Jeff is on ignore, so he is p*ssing in the wind as far as I'm concerned. Anyway, all those leavers who have left this thread and the other ones concerning Brexit, I am joining them. Talk among yourselves. I can just have the occasional look in and have a good laugh at all of you in your little echo chamber.
