bull****, we still have to properly replace Fonte and that's why we are looking at defenders. The club can add another 10m-20m to the price by simply letting Van Dijk play again for us next season. Defenders in the prem arent going to get any better suddenly. Someone will want him and be even more desperate next time out. Also I don't believe Yoshida or Caceres are going to be relied upon as one of our first choice CB's long term.

Your welcome to your opinion, and do agree with point, but at the same time I would say does it all really matter. It will all change and adapt again every season, just ride along with it, in 20 years the football match day experience will be very different anyway as technology, culture and expectation rapidly accelerates.

Yes we do. Whether you like the reasons for our global name or not is besides the point. We are known as a club that a large number of transfers across the continent get associated with even if often made up. We are known to buy well so our name is used to add fake interest by agents. We are known to achieve great things despite our status, we are a small club but consistenly we turn up as the second card to your Man utd, Liverpools etc as a good fixture to cause drama because we can and often have since our return to the prem caused an upset. inaddition our academy leavers and prospects turn up interesting news articles whether they 'are' leaving, have left or intend to leave in global news forums that cover the footy news on the continent. Don't underestimate how well known this club now is. It may not be all for the reasons as fans we would wish but we are still a covetable club for businesses that want to increase their PR in the modern age of the football pyramid.

I've never thought this before but now wonder if their really is an asset strip planned before a takeover. If we were too get relegated a lot of players would hand in transfer requests and would have to be sold with reduced comeback from the fans. Plus the prem payout for this season. Can they take hefty dividends before selling the club to the new guys who may have already stated they intend to change the staff. I suspect this because the failure to replace at least one of our essential cb's is so inept it must be calculated, not even the most basic of football looks would ever bank on our survival with Yoshida as our main CB and an untested youth as his sidekick. Years of Yoshida have told us he is a liability even as an number two... so all I can think is this must be intentional...

For first time ever I kinda agree with this. It was on the cards we were going to not bother, but to not even participate to this extent and allow someone a score against the club like this is surely just detrimental to what we have achieved recently. I guess a bit like when we threw the cup game to Liverpool we can hear them crowe about 5-0 / 6-1 even when we next beat them in the league. I just don't understand why when we are riding on a wave we don't continue to surf it, why crash intentionally in order to start again.

I mean surely with our successes in transfer scouting surely all the other clubs need to do is ascertain who our real targets are and when they do jump in on it and offer more money. Everton and West Ham seem to have the sort of attitudes in their backroom that would deem this a morally decent move for sure.
