I’d assumed that’s how you were getting the gossip out of him…

This lot behind the scenes are in the wrong industry. Elite Competitive sport is for dreamers, ambitious go getters and people who disregard expectation and limits. They write their own narratives and expect success even when it is in adversity to the realistic outcome. What you need is a board managing the finances professionally but supporting the athletes in achieving what others say is impossible. Telling someone they aren’t good enough can sometimes spur them on to greatness. But in any walk of life if you tell someone over and over again they are average, punching above their weight and don’t really deserve to be where they are. Guess what will happen to that person… sooner or later they will believe it to be true and you will get what was predicted. The sentiment of the board over the last few seasons and the clubs ‘message’ of ‘expectations’ is more damaging than anything any Pompey fan has ever said or did to our club.

Saints 1-4 Newcastle - Match Thread
Mallagroth replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Well everything points to an easy Newcastle win… so this could be our 9-0 of the season, but I’m fairly sure we have been a bit of a bogey team for Newcastle in recent years. I seem to remember a lot of angry Jordie rant videos being a thing. it’s true they’ve bought their way into the the top tier of the league but we do have a habit of embarrassing exactly those sort of teams when they come play. -
Football fans are notorious for having short memories and living moment to moment. It’s still surprising that many have become revisionists and now say JWP has never been any good when he has frequently been our standout player and easily most consistent player for multiple seasons in a row, playing more games than any other player and has been touted for Champions league clubs interest prior to this one. If your looking for signs of trouble at the club, JWP is the dead canary in the coal mine. His professionalism and his loyalty to the club has never been lacking but right now he looks like he is giving up. So It’s not a case that all of our players that have become shit, it’s quite clearly the managers long term vision and motivational skills that are lacking and many of the experienced playing staff have now had enough, become disillusioned or simply frustrated at the stagnation. They are human and no matter how much you get paid, if you are struggling to enjoy something you once did or carrying negativity you will perform at a lower level than you are capable of. Go read the Redmond piece it’s telling. Freshening the manager will reinvigorate some of our better players, but it’s got to happen soon or it will be too late.

This is the car crash performance we expected vs arsenal. Classic saints and very predictable.
-
Is diallo in fucking clogs, what the hell is he doing
-
Bringing Walcott on at this stage in a match that is 1-1 is a sackable offense in itself
-
If you’ve actually injured your head… don’t rub it so furiously you might give yourself friction burns…ffs

Looking for a positive we are at least making it a scrappy affair and have broken up their momentum and free flowing play. If we can get a bit of confidence to string at least two passes together could be a more interesting match.
-
I think it is time for Ralph to move on, as there is enough evidence that the same old problemS aren’t being addressed and most of these are confidence and man management issues. However… the club has a lot to answer for. The lack of a striker is completely criminal when every man and his dog who watched Saints know Brojas goals kept us up last season as did Ings before him. The failure to get a striker is complete negligence and many involved should lose their jobs over it.

This is a relegation level performance from the both players and management

We just never show up against teams that aren’t the big six
-
8mins and haven’t advanced past their midfield once yet… this is looking to be a fun one then
-
If he stays on his feet then he can’t get down quick enough if the striker hits hard and low as he was attempting to. Jeezus what do you guys expect from our players.
-
Bazunu unlucky he would have stopped that if the striker hadn’t scuffed it into the ground, can’t predict that.
-
This has been the way since we changed formations but previously we had Lavia who is twice as good as Diallo at breaking the play and not fouling before those passes come in
-
Hilarious that at the last minute he took a serious thought about joining Leeds Fc and thought ‘Fuck that’ and took off like a bride running away from the altar.

There’s definitely been something rumbling behind the scenes to make the mail grab hold of the idea that there is discontent in the dressing room several weeks back… redmond who let’s face it has always been involved in match squads is nowhere near playing this season and bednareks reaction to being subbed at Tottenham was full toys out of pram moment. We will never know the truth but there’s rarely smoke without fire and if the hierarchy have decided that it’s time for certain individuals to leave with due haste good on them. All we can look for is subtle digs at our club when they join a new one to establish who might have been unhappy and leaking to the press. Beyond speculation, good on the club for dealing with the disharmony swiftly and efficiently and replacing the attitude and belief in the squad with a positivity that’s so reversed from the last few seasons we are now regularly winning games from behind instead of losing from in front!

Well if we’ve lost this one at the last moment, it doesn’t bode well for finding another 30M winger willing to leave with just over 24 hrs left. PSV screwed us by going public early and look to be getting their bidding war from vultures at last minute. Wonder where we are placed to compete with any Leeds offer.

It’s a big balls test moment for SR
-
It’s the hope that kills us being saints supporters. The old adage… ‘If something seems too good to be true…’
-
I suspect they’ve taken a view on it and decided that whilst we needed a striker and a winger (redmond and Walcott out of picture and Mo not exactly the strongest in the position) the striker is less urgent with Che’s stepping up to the plate. Why not pool both transfer kitty’s and get a marquee creative player, which is why I think we are realistically entertaining Gakpo. I Still personally would prefer a target man built like a brick shithouse over Che as a focal point for attacks but any improvement in attacking positions is a good move. We never really replaced Tadic with someone as good as him (s. Armstrong when he is fit and at peak but is not nearly consistently enough) a passer who adds goals would finally address a hole in the team.

Indeed. Which we all know won’t happen if it’s a loan to buy deal
