  1. Can't watch it just now but must be good to get such a unanimous response on here. I too hope that the Markus Liebherr academy is unveiled tomorrow.
  2. A very good point, I think the retrospective aspect is entirely without merit and definitely the part that is going to cause most issue.
  3. I agree with a lot of what you've said, the impact is likely to be huge - a number of businesses may well fall. What we need to do though is judge the principle first to reach a conclusion and then fathom out the impact. We shouldn't be looking to curtail rights because it would be too difficult to grant them. As far as I am aware (I must confess I haven't read a huge amount of detail) the conclusion is that if the employee could expect to have earned overtime during the holiday period they should be paid this. The obvious conclusion is that if a claim is for occasional overtime here and there then it will fail. It should only be where the overtime is so often that they would expect to have worked it. Overtime isn't always at a premium rate. As for most benefit going to lawyers...
  4. The devil is in the detail of course, but would "renting your brain out" not be more self-employment / contract work instead of being an employee?
  5. A recent tribunal has concluded that holiday pay should be adjusted to reflect what the employee would ordinarily earn, even if this includes overtime. This will no doubt be appealed so a final resolution is likely to be years away. A triumph for reason and justice or another nail in the coffin of many struggling small businesses? I personally think that it is a fair conclusion, if your business only continues because your employees are regularly working overtime this is simply because you are not employing enough people for the work you undertake: "Zero Hours contracts-lite" if you will
  6. I'd agree that Mar Hall is fantastic but not exactly in Glasgow!
  7. My favourite pub in the city is probably Molly Malones. Try St Mungo. Molly's is one of the few places to serve it draft and it's a very nice lager.
  8. The area around cetic park is not good, steer clear. For a decent curry i'd recommend mother india near kelvinbridge (west end). You can't book a table so may end up waiting for a table but it's well worth it. As for hotels I can't really offer advice as I've never stayed in one (I live in the city). But I can offer help with what areas to stay clear of if you find a hotel that you like the look of. City centre or west end are fine - trouble is rare. Stay south of Great Western Road in the west end though. The jury's inn has a good reputation if you're looking for city centre. Getting to Celtic park can be a pain in the rear end. I'd probably just walk...might want to bring something to cover your England shirt though!
  9. I just don't see it and hope it doesn't happen in all honesty. All along the message has been about sustainability and progressive growth. A "Vegas or bust" approach would just be very out of the blue. It would also have a high possibility of unbalancing the team. I agree that this season seems a great opportunity to seize on the faltering of others but the risk is just too high. Don't get me wrong, if Silva desperately wanted to move up the table and play for £50K a week, I'd consider it.
  10. I would say something involving software development / network engineer or something of that ilk. Pluralsight.com seems like a decent option as it's a monthly subscription for online courses and it has a free trial.
  11. About as relevant as a list of someone's favourite foods. Entirely subjective. FYI, I'm allergic to shellfish so that's definitely bottom of the definitive list.
  12. You think he's longing to return?
  13. Not really an Adkinism but what he said when the camera was on him in the tunnel after the 4-0 Coventry game will always stick in my memory (well, thinking about it now, I can't remember word for word). You could tell he already knew he was out the door as soon as a replacement could be put in place...shame really.
  14. I just don't see it, for the many reasons already stated (cost, unknown ability after injury, poch might not be there come January). ...even if he does go, we'd only sell for a decent amount; he's far from a guaranteed start even in last season's form; and if he isn't right back there he'll be unlikely to get a huge amount of games. How much of a loss would he be? Don't get me wrong, if he is close to how he was last season, he'd be a very strong asset and another option for Koeman to use and if he goes we should be looking for a replacement. It certainly wouldn't be the end of the world if he were to go though. Loyalty bears no weight on footballers now so the time and money spent by Saints to fix him up will unlikely even cross his mind.
  15. There's a bit of a theme up here for naming children after islands. A friend of a friend was christened Iona (I own a). All was well until she married her husband and took his surname...Turtle. Made me smile anyway.
  16. :D
  17. Done *must read entire OP before responding*
  18. What an utterly pointless comment. I think it provides a point of discussion, but I'd agree with adrian above that beating the "easier" teams can get you a hell of a long way. It has often been Saints' downfall.
  19. Wins for Saints, Chelsea, Man City and Hull would be best imho. It's about getting as much distance between us and those below to help out during the winter point drought.
  20. Fair play, don't want to insult anyone so maybe a bit strong. I would struggle to understand not being worried at some point during the summer though.
  21. Anyone who wasn't shocked and worried probably don't support Saints.
  22. Outstanding. I honestly thought the forum was on the wind up when I managed to check it this afternoon. I remember worrying during the summer about where goals are going to come from. I guess I now have my answer.
  23. Rational debate on Question Time? We must be watching different programmes "I like good things and I hate bad things" *rapturous applause* Agree with this 100%, our system is not the same as the US, no need to try and shoehorn a quirk of the presidential system into ours. There is a plethora of information available about your local candidate and the party they run for in just about every format, if you're uninformed there is one person to blame.
  24. Tesco and Waitrose aren't exactly comparable now are they?...you get what you pay for.
