  1. I had a horrible feeling lambert was going to be the only saint in the england team. Had. Now I feel sick.
  2. didn't realise he was in the running, thought the odds would be higher though
  3. if he did support city he'd only moan about lack of ambition to win the world cup. Very positive interview though, and given pretty much as soon as he was able. Keeping the promise of transparency. Odd to make the shortlist of managers public though.
  4. I think we should. We could write the results on a postcard and mail it to them, bound to get some of the big wigs sweating that will.
  5. Is it just me that sees the next Saints manager position as a poisoned challice? We're right at the peak of a very successful period in our history. Any further progression is likely to be minimal at best. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, I would hate to become an overly bank-rolled plaything (obviously we have been well financed since Markus saved us, but nothing too extravagant). I very much doubt this would happen any way. What that means however (imho) is that the best outcome the new manager can hope for is treading water, perhaps getting further towards a cup. That doesn't sound like a particularly appetising prospect to me. I fear we might be in for a bitter disappointment in our new man. Having said that, Yakin for me. Maybe De Boer if only to p!ss off the spuds.
  6. It takes a lot to get a united response on this board. I'll give OP credit for that at least. Other than that it's contemptible
  7. I definitely believe this one, it will be resolved this week, absolutely. This isn't just another arbitrary deadline set by people taking a wild stab in the dark, not at all.
  8. Just more re-hashing of the same stuff as last week. Fluff and bluster. What makes me question this one most though is the bit about Saints being resigned to losing MP. If that were the case, we would be making enquiries about a replacement. With the level of media scrutiny at the moment, I'm pretty sure that would have reached at least twitter.
  9. Quite a tapestry you weave
  10. positive rumours, but rumours nontheless. Hoping these turn concrete soon.
  11. I was under the impression that contracts were to be looked at / negotiated after the end of the season, but evidently you're ITK...what were the terms?
  12. I have to agree with everything you've said. Aside from a (perhaps) naive statement about finances, I can't see anything to complain about from the current board. With the current uncertainty (albeit created by outside forces), it is only natural for people to romanticise a steely eyed, determined savior. But in all honesty, like you suggest, it's much easier to say what you would do in the circumstance if you can't be tested on it.

  14. Perfectly put. Without further information, it's impossible to judge this decision. Obviously sad to see them leave and concerning what impact this will have. All we can be sure of is that if there isn't a good reason, there'll be a fairly public employment tribunal.
  15. Sibley hasn't tweeted in a few days
  16. So you are saying that because there are no leaks, the players are being kept in the dark? Quite a leap there surely? The Chairman's job is to further the interests of the business, you could argue that ending speculation is part of that...however, I would suggest in light of recent "definitely moving" articles that the press would be unlikely to u-turn at the drop of a hat (or statement from RK). Obviously it would be unethical to discuss the particulars of a contract negotiation, so the best RK could do is state he intends to do all he can to keep MP. If that happened, I'm thinking the next headline would be "Saints in denial as Pochettino desperate for dream move to his beloved spurs".
  17. As far as I'm aware, it's a "our sources say" type of thing One paper's source is another, ouroboros, nothing more.
  18. Nothing to worry about, just the cost of running a premier league club. Look at any other club and you'll find they have similar (although scaled) figures. Man City for example had over £1bil in liabilities for 2012 As Adrian says, having bills does not mean being unable to pay them.
  19. And that reminds me of one of my favourite songs On we go to where who knows To a place where there's still non-believers What will it take for heaven sakes For those who find what's real too hard to believe in It's that same old story again
