  1. I sincerely hope you are right, but this season is sucking the confidence out of me. The next two games being away at Sheff Utd, and the away to Swansea, who are unbeaten at home and hanging onto the play-off chase, could see us with 11 points from 13 matches.
  2. That about sums it up !
  3. We lose because we can't score and can't defend, the bits that happen between the penalty areas, however artistically presented, are rendered irrelevant by these two failures.
  4. After the next two matches it looks like it will be 11 points from 13 matches. So yes, exactly as expected, unfortunately.
  5. JP has dragged us down to his level, second divsion Dutch football
  6. The one thing that is certain is McG won't score.
  7. Probably all for the good.
  8. Been watching "Waterloo" on telly, and avoiding this thread for fear of jinxing it. And what do I find, same old sh1te. This is getting embarrassing; the tactics don't work, the players can't score - even from the penalty spot, and there is absolutely no prospect of it getting better if you look at the fixture list - so that must mean we will win at Sheff Utd. ( Anyone here seen scabby ? )
  9. The thing I can't get is why they have to use two different tyre compounds, when usually one sort is completely unsuited to the track conditions. What is the point of that ? I think Bernie E is making up new rules each year, and p155ing around with the calendar, just to show how much power he has. Why stop Canada, ( ostensibly on the grounds of cutting travel costs ), but keep Brazil, ( which is a lot further away from anywhere else on the GP circus ). There have been ( not so ) veiled threats against the British and Belgian GPs, yet we get Valencia, yet another boring street circuit, and a race around a sandpit in middle east.
  10. None of the current crop, with the possible exception of Alonso, would have been fit to lace Senna's boots.
  11. True, Jan might have accepted a job where he has one arm tied behind his back, and he is responsible for making that decision and the personal and professional consequences thereof, but the thing many of us are questioning are the motives of the person imposing the restriction, and whether it truly is the only option. And if we can bring in new members to an already congested midfield squad, and even loanee strikers to supplant our 20 goal a season international bench warmer, why can't anybody at the club, including the manager - an ex-defender with world cup final experience, sort out the defence ? In a period of team and confidence building, that is the main area where you need cool and experienced heads to guide the young-bloods.
  12. Swap Bart or Forecast for KD and see how many we ship.
  13. You keep my nasal equipment out of this !
  14. What happens when the weather takes a cold turn, the pitches rut up, and the frosts set in ? How far will our pretty midfield passing patterns get us then ?
  15. And Hull are only 3 points from the top of the prem, does that mean they are title contenders ? The point at issue is not how many points we may have managed to scrounge in the first 10 games, but how well we are actually playing, and the question is then whether after the next ten games we will be any more than 3 points above the bottom three, because we sure as hell will be many more than 4 points adrift of the top 6.

  17. In that case he needs a quick lesson in reading what is actually written. I didn't think the sarcasm was that well hidden !
  18. pardon ?
  19. All down to KD, NOT the defenders !
  20. Imagine if our manager was an experienced international defender who had played in the world cup final.......
  21. Rupert's plan is in two parts; first to appease the bank, second to protect what is left of his 'investment'. And any of the 'kids' that have any value will be sold as the next tranche to try to keep the whole rotten edifice afloat. There is no investment plan other than this. Which of this years ressies will be promoted to replace Lallana, Surman, DMG, or any others we might get a fee for ?
  22. Basically the fans are between a rock and a hard place: Stay away to show their displeasure of Rupes and the 'total football' experiment and kill the club's finances, or attend the games and give tacit support to the Board. If 28,000 turned up for every game, solely because they were fully behind the lads on the pitch, it would not affect the performances on the pitch, but you can bet that RL would claim credit that his policies were the reason for the level of attendance.
  23. I would suggest looking back to the performances against Blackpool, Doncaster, and Barnsley. Three of the 'weaker' teams in the league against which we struggled. Yes, I know that we actually beat Donny, but they could have has 4 by half-time if it wasn't for KD. You don't need to wait until the end of the season; we ARE one of the below average teams, and we will finish well down in the lower half of this division. There has been nothing in any of the matches so far to suggest otherwise, we cannot defend, we cannot score, and the manager has only one, flawed, idea as to tactics.
  24. Saints are tactically naive all over the pitch. A combination of playing last year's reserves under a one dimensional conference league coach.
  25. Don't know why, but this result hasn't got me as down as it might have done. Maybe it was just too predictable that after two ( slightly lucky ) wins we would come down to earth with a bump. As has been said elsewhere, this was always going to be a roller-coaster ride, with the likely outcome a near thing, ( hopefully not needing a last day escape ), flirt with relegation. At least all the uber-positives are keeping their heads down; maybe scabby is starting to realise the 'golden' duo are more akin to pyrites. Still positive slant on the table, we are 4 points above 23rd, and 4 points behind 5th. Other than the top three this is a poor, and consequently highly competitive, league.
