  1. £10,000.00 is a 7 figure sum
  2. Especially as we start the pre-season games next weekend If things continue to drag along, hooked up on the FL's intransigence, what sort of team, and with whom as manager, will Saints be able to put out ?
  3. I'm sure I read it in an Echo piece quoted somewhere on here earlier today, but cannot remember which thread.
  4. "The night they drove Dixie down" - The Band
  5. Teacher says - Spelling 7/10, must do better. "Stanley by any other name" is a myopic little, worm eating, creature whose belly scrapes along the ground, and which hides underground for most of it's life. Did you spend a lot of your school time being beaten up behind the bike sheds ?
  6. Nice to see pedantry is alive and well.
  7. My wife, ( who has 2 degrees ), has to deal every day with 26 5&6 year-olds who spit, scream, kick, punch, and bite, and to whom she can give no form of physical response because she will be disciplined if she was to try. Her 'real value' is to try to get them into a suitable state of mind such that they have some hope of progressing further on in the system. How much would you want to be paid before you would be willing to operate in her situation ?
  8. Tuition fees were introduced by the Labour Government in 1998, after the Dearing report; the Tories had earlier replaced grants with loans. Wait 'til they are at Uni ! Something must be wrong today, I agree with Stanely ! Oh, and Benjii, some on here ARE teachers, and others of us are married to one.
  9. And contribute to global warming, ( unless you are St George ).
  10. I cant help about the shape Im in I cant sing, I aint pretty and my legs are thin But dont ask me what I think of you I might not give the answer that you want me to
  11. I find that having a dog with me in a field of cows actually makes them more curious, you would have thought they'd stay away. Horses, on the other hand, are wonderful beasties; have kept two in my back garden, and one of them is pictured on one of our village's postcards, with a sunhat and sunglasses on, and eating an ice cream.
  12. Would you continue to do this if you suddenly realised there was an effing great hereford bull in the middle of the herd ?
  13. Not enough iodine and penicillin in the world to make me want to risk f$$$ing even one of them !
  14. The two major creditors by far, ( AFAIK ), are Barclays and AVIVA ( aka Norwich Union ). The first pulled the plug on Saints and precipitated this whole fiasco, so f$$$ them ! The second are part of the financial meltdown in the housing market, and have far greater losses to worry about in the grand scheme of things. The area where "natural justice" really comes in is with the innocent parties who have lost their jobs, and the small value creditors who would never have got anything from the administration process, as Rupert's little empire has come crashing down. Surely the simplest thing for the FL is to allow the appeal - after all, they are the ones who would determiine the outcome.
  15. If it gets the sport away from Bernie and Max I'm all for it.
  16. South Korea and Japan have both qualified & both hold quite deep grudges with NK, and don't forget in 1966 they beat Italy 1-0, so presumably the Azzurri would be looking for revenge .
  17. Not sure about banks, but Barclaycard are really good about this; A couple of years ago I got my statement and saw several transactions around Preston for fuel at ASDA pay-at-pump stations, so I rang them up and said it was not me. They asked if somebody else had borrowed my card, to which I pointed out that on the two days in question I was in Helsinki, Finland, using the self same card to pay a hotel bill and purchase duty free at the airport. All the money was credited back once I had sent them a copy of the statement with the dodgy transactions highlighted.
  18. It's also good news that the Saints will have a 'Holy' goalie.
  19. Stanley, what would the Tories have done when the banking system threatened to crash & burn ?
  20. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8102432.stm How can a firm that employs 45 people and makes 18 cars a year buy out a GM subsidiary ? Imagine what they could do if it was the AERO division rather than the cars
  21. I pay people to do my publicity for me, it keeps me out of the public gaze.

    Subbuteo

Falco Subbuteo = the Hobby, a small falcon, and 'Hobby' was the original name the creator tried to trademark for his table top football game. He failed, so used his ornithological knowledge to change the name to a Latin substition. Also, made famous by the Undertones in 'My Perfect Cousin', and Half Man Half Biscuit in 'All I Want For Christmas is a Dukla Prague Away Kit'.
  23. Are there any nightclubs in Plymouth that might leave their cloakrooms unattended ?
  24. The final drama for Simon in the 125cc put the icing on the cake, when he thought he'd fought back up to 3rd and turned up in parc fermee, only to have to walk away in a huff and have his bike removed after the photo finish was reviewed. and put him back to 4th.
  25. 'Reality is a condition brought about by a lack of alcohol'.
