  1. Not much, if Brighton hang on we will still be 9 points behind the team immediately above us and 11 from 20th place, so that's 1 point worse off than when we started, and we will be the only team in the division without a win.
  2. If you are accessing your work e-mail remotely, are you using 'normal' OUTLOOK or OUTLOOK Web Access ? Also, are you sure you are not using any form of VPN system ? If you are remotely accessing work's servers, it is most unlikely that OUTLOOK will be permitted to work, unless you have something like an SSL tunnel VPN, the firewall configuration and security considerations otherwise are a nightmare. If you are using a VPN, it might be that the tunnel is failing to initialise for some reason. A common problem is a conflict with other applications on the laptop over the JAVA version, something you would not be likely to experience within work as you would not be using the VPN to access OUTLOOK. ( And it's a loooooooong time since I was a YOUNG whizz kid ! )
  3. Who cares if we have upset a bunch of isolationist ingrates who always turn up 3 years late for a world war
  4. Aren't TESCO doing their spend £50 and get an extra 5p off each litre of fuel again ? Nearest independent to me is £1.03 /litre.
  5. Think the Yanks might have a say in how the field is developed then, and will probably want first dibs.
  6. Sky Sports has him "considerably lacking in match practice having turned out just six times for the Salentini", so he should be just about as fit as the rest of the squad
  7. You mean it isn't a 'true story' Maybe it came from the Daily Mail Oh well, I suppose you should never let the facts get in the way of a good old rant !

  9. 41 games left, and we need to reach 50 to be reasonably secure, which means we need 57 points from those games; 15 wins, 13 draws, and 13 defeats will mean we just avoid relegation. I think we will do slightly better than that, and will probably be mathematically safe around Easter. Anybody still thinking about the play-offs is expecting us to reach somewhere around 75 points, ( net 82 ), which equates to 24 wins, 10 draws, and only 7 more losses this season - sorry, dream on.
  10. Seems like a typical inbred, narrow-minded, bigoted, Yorkie. Thoroughly unlikeable, but you can find half a dozen on every street corner in the West Riding.
  11. Been out all day. Read the second half thread and saw this on post #274 from Thorp-Le-Saint ;"I ****ing hate northerners!!!!!! ****ing hate them pie eating ****s. Smug arrogant ****S". PS: I love you too ! And it's curry for tea on Saturdays. :smt049:smt049:smt049:smt049:smt049:smt049
  12. Possibly because it is the % of candidates, not % mark. Therefore you might get an 'A' for a mark of 60% if you are in the top 10% of results gained, ( or whatever threshold is set ).
  13. I do not think that it is necessary to denigrate the students for the way the system awards grades, they will feel a sense of acheivement and it serves nobody to knock them. I do, however feel that the system itself is open to question. The greater the proportion of 'good' grades awarded, by whatever means of manipulating the system and twisting the statistics, the less useful a list of exams passed becomes, as it cannot be used as a means of differentiation between students / candidates. As posted somewhere above, the reality is that in terms of FE / HE and future career development, GCSE passes quickly become an irrelevance, ( and I take that from the standpoint of an interviewer / employer ). I also cannot understand why the Government are so hung-up on university placements; why have a target of 50% of pupils aged 16 going on through FE to Uni, when there is no requirement in the 'real world' of work for 50% of new employees to have a degree ? All the b@@@@@ks about getting a better paid job, and thereby justifying the obscene levels of debt generated by the Student Loans system, is just so much bluster and hot air. Then again, all the members of the Government and Opposition front benches benefitted from the previous scheme of grants, and didn't pay tuition fees. Anyway, rant over. Well done to all of you getting your exam grades, whether GCSE, 'A' level, or degree, and best of luck in whatever you hope to acheive in the future.
  14. How many Royal Mail trucks were 'smashed' when the 'depot was invaded' ? Funny how it didn't even make the local news in Brizzle, let alone the national press !
  15. From the Bristol Evening Post re the 'invasion'..... "Richard Cottle, a spokesman for North Bristol NHS Trust, which runs Frenchay Hospital, said: "The sheer number of extra people on site did present us with a number of difficulties, particularly around access to clinical areas, keeping the corridors clear and with vehicles parked outside the entrance to the accident and emergency department. "The travellers were extremely co-operative to our requests to move their vehicles and stay in one central location after we opened the orthopaedic outpatients waiting room for them. "Yesterday we opened an additional parking area and they are waiting there in their vehicles rather than gathering in the main hospital corridor."" Plus, the same paper ran the following re the attacks on Royal Mail trucks : http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/news/Royal-Mail-drivers-told-avoid-fatal-Bristol-crash-scene/article-1284359-detail/article.html Nothing like checking the facts before letting off steam, eh ?
  16. Shame about the result, but then again, we were never going to go far in the cups. More important is to carry this performance into the weekend and try to get that all-important first win. Onwards & upwards ( once we have made up the -10 !! )
  17. Ditto, plus I have his autograph stuck on my desk drawer, and a 12" garden gnome also painted in the Sanderson kit sat on my second set of office drawers. I also have an 18"*24" aerial photo of the Dell waiting to be put up on the wall. Obsession ? Nah !!!
  18. In terms of actual racing, there wasn't any after about 1 1/2 laps. Reubens beat Lewis entirely due to the second pit stops. Why do they use such unsuitable circuits ? I understand there is the argument about the corporate shmoozing at Monaco, and it gives the glitterati their chance to pose for the cameras, but what does Valencia add ? Next year, without compulsory re-fuelling, these processions will tend towards farce as the only true chance for a team to get their driver ahead of a competitor will be removed.
  19. How dare you suggest that
  20. According to Wiki, Terry Paine was 5 foot 7 and John Sydenham 5 foot 6; Cox is down as 5 foot 4, but what does 2 inches matter ?
  21. Sat next to a PNE supporter; says he's good, but has had a number of injuries.
  22. As posted last night on the post-match thread. We have 43 matches left, and to attain the minimum number of points that over the last 4 seasons has kept teams in this division we need to win 15, draw 14, and therefore lose no more than 14. Every game we churn out a peformance like the last two, that equation gets worse.
  23. At which point, following on my post above, we would then be looking at needing 50 points from about 32 games, which is play-off contender form. Attainable, but it might be a close run thing if we leave it that late to really get going.
  24. In the last four seasons, the points total needed to avoid relegation from L1 has been 52, 51, 50, and 50, with the team next to bottom having won 12 games and drawn respectively 16, 15, 14, and 14. This would indicate that from the remaining 43 matches, we need to achieve a minimum of 59 points, which is likely to need at least 15 wins, with 14 draws, and only 14 defeats. Guess we are about to find out how good AP is.
  25. Anybody who thinks Brentford will allow us to get out of this slump is likely to be sorely disappointed
