  1. So if Rupert leaves, the gates will increase overnight. Is that what some on here are saying ?? Results will be the only thing that will bring the crowds back.
  2. I think he would. Maybe the guy on the other thread that is laying a patio for Glenn could ask, I believe they are good friends.
  3. Micky Adams for me, Glen ****erill as his assistant. He would sort the full back problem out straight away. He has a good record with lower league teams (which we are now) on small budgets. He knows this area and what the fans expect. So no settling into the area issues. I bet the pair of them would work for the same fee as JP or even less. He gets teams superfit like Strachan. Only doubts are if they could work under Lowe.
  4. When did you last go ? In the early eighties ?
  5. Off subject, all the negativity on here and yet out of 73 people, so far 39 have put Saints down for a win. Only 16 have backed us to lose.
  6. If only...
  7. If we can afford the wages for all those loanees that aren't 1st team regulars then we shouldn't be in a position that we have to sell. Yet all indications are, that we still have to cut costs and sell just to keep our heads above water. As the likes of Euell, Scatchel, John, Rasiak, BWP and Saganoski are the highest earners, I presumed these are the players that we need to release to get our wage debts under control. Maybe I have got that all wrong, but I can't see us not selling out of necessity come January. Like I said at the beggining, something doesn't add up.
  8. Good point, but the conspiracy theorists will insist that its a deliberate ploy by RL to put us on the brink.
  9. I didn't say they would fetch a high price and yes, £1.5m is probably all we would get for Lallana. As the saying goes, 'beggars can't be choosers' and we can't afford to keep the high earners and our best youngsters or even both. But I think Rudi has done anything but set the world alight. I'd rather keep Lallana any day.
  10. Im happy for Rudi to stay, but not if it is the difference between having to sell someone like Lallana or Surman for example.
  11. This I am struggling to understand. Why, if the club are on such a knife edge from administration, didn't they keep him out of the first team if it meant he would leave? His high wages will mean that we suffer somewhere else in the squad.
  12. Yes it has, bring back Lifelongsaint and StDavid all is forgiven. p.s I saw StDavid was logged in last week.
  13. With the banks cutting interest rates by 1.5%, what affect will this have on Saints loan with Barclays ? How much a month would our repayments be ?
  14. HA ha, your aving a laugh. Nick you could start an argument in a room on your own.
  15. Oh go on, there's feck all else to debate. Work is quietest its ever been, so help break up the boredom.
  16. I agree with the second part, seems that the days that we used to get good inside info leaking onto the forum have long gone. We have all put up with so many fabricated leaks, that know one believes a word that anyone says anymore. As regards your comment about the results, I think the opposite, when we win I can't wait to read the views and reactions of those that went. The opposite applies to when we lose. I bet more people log on after we have won a game, than when we have lost. IF we started to do well, this forum would be buzzing again.
  17. Because take over talk has died a death (despite dubai-phils best attemts to keep it alive) Also some of the better posters that started good threads have disappeared.
  18. Jan as in Jan Portelviet
  19. Saints 2 Bristol 1 Saints 2 Wolves 1 Reading game could embarrass us.
  20. I would hope that by the start of next season we will have released enough of the players that are bleeding us dry with their wages. Although we will be without Surman,Lallana ect I still think we will have enough in reserve to make for a better season next year. As for the loanees we have at present, the only ones that I would like to keep are Cork and Pearce. Surely we would be able to have an option to buy these two at an affordable rate, if Surman, Lallana and maybe a couple of the high earners were released ?
  21. Absolutely, but the question from Nick, was would you keep him if we got taken over ? So if we were taken over tommorrow, I would keep him until at least January providing he is allowed to keep the players he wants. It would be interesting to know what players/positions he would buy if he was given money.
  22. Ha Ha. Now Edited.
  23. I still think we are weak in the fullback positions. Pearce in centre of defence looks like the rock solid, get stuck in, kind of defender we have been crying out for. Midfield I would leave as it is, as I think when Holmes gets back we will look more balanced. If Gasmi is as good as some portray him to be, then we could end up with one hell of a good midfield to choose from. Strikers are still short of what we require, now if we had Leroy lita things could be so different. So 3 more good quality older players would be all we need. As for Jan, I like him and the way he is trying to play the game, so would give him until January at the very least. But come January transfer window time, we may see the rug pulled from underneath him.
  24. For what its worth I like both Jan and Pearson. As someone has stated above, they both bring something different to the game, yet they both are determined and focused to succeed. I find it very hard to decide who we would be better off with. If Jan can get another defender that looks as good as Pearce, then he will just about win it for me.
  25. So you weren't deluded enough to think we should have gone up automatically with £7m to spend on strengthening our squad, but Nigel Pearson should guarantee promotion, without that kind of disposable expenditure ? Double standards me thinks.
