  1. I have to say that after watching this today that I have come away feeling disillusioned for a number of reasons. The result was hard enough to take but what was even worse was the ease that the bottom of the league team coped with our forwards. We only seriously threatened on the odd occasion. It was like they were running through treacle they were so slow. Whatever happened to the playing further up the pitch philosophy? Didn't see any of that today. QPR had three shots and scored with two of them. They came with little attacking ambition and still scored twice. I really feel after what I have seen today that we are going to be relegated. If all this wasn't bad enough some of the supporters were a disgrace. Chants were continually going round the ground of we 'F, ing' hate Harry Redknap, Then there were the chants about the Pompey scum. Nothing ever seems to be said about this but it is appalling and does nothing to support the team.
  2. totally agree
  3. Good you Tube video on the home game against West Ham.
  4. Does anyone remember a Tuesday evening game when we were away at West Ham around 1970. I was at that game. Really memorable game as Tom Jenkins ran almost the length of the pitch and put a hard low shot into the bottom corner from 20yds. Later in the home game (not sure if it was the same season but he had a brilliant run down the left and got us a penalty for our second goal. We were 0-3 down after 26 minutes and Terry Paine scored the 3rd. Another great game and a 3-3 draw. Whatever happened to Tom Jenkins he looked brilliant for a couple of seasons?
  5. I remember the Rodney Marsh free kick that was their second goal.
  6. I think he has a lot more to offer than what we have been able to see of him. Obviously his injury came at a bad time. He got a great goal against Derby. Perhaps a bit light weight for the Premier. He has suffered like a lot of other squad players in that he doesn't get any games.
  7. these games were from the 1968/69 season
  8. My ticket for the QPR game arrived this morning so really looking forward to the game. It reminded me of my first ever saints game was QPR v saints at Loftus road, a 1-1 draw with Terry Pain scoring for us. I also went to the home game which was a situation not dissimilar to the one faced in a couple of weeks time. QPR were rooted to the bottom of the table. We were 0-2 down with twenty minutes to go but went on to win 3-2. Does anyone remember this game? Great game, great atmosphere great result. Lesson of the day.... never underestimate the opposition.
  9. I felt that if we were to stay up then we needed a big result. Here it is!! Great. We have scored eight goals against the best two teams in the country and have scored twice against the European champions. This is a very good side.
  10. sensational result on a day when all the other results went for us. Only heard it on the radio but seems midfield were superb.
  11. I like most others on this forum was really shocked at Nigel Adkins dismissal yesterday. I guess there has been a lot going on behind the scenes and probably behind his back. I think back to the Coventry game last year when after winning promotion while all of us were celebrating he was strongly hinting at a parting of the ways, that this would be inevitable one day. Strange words from a man that had just led his club to successive promotions. So how do we feel today and what do we think about Mauricio Pochettino's appointment. Personally I feel angry at the club for the way this has been done to yet another manager and would really like to protest in the strongest way. But we have to consider that we have another must win game on Monday. We have to get behind the team and this new manager as well otherwise we risk losing everything we have gained over the last two seasons. There are some really tough games coming up and we have to ask the question why change things at this stage. Pochettino has got to hit the road running because if he doesn't who knows what the response of the fans will be. The trouble is if we protest as most of us would like to then its our club that will suffer. I have to say I know nothing about Mauricio Pochettino other than what I have recently read. His interview yesterday was hardly inspiring and as is the case with many premier league interviews it will be hard work listening to him. I have to say Nigel Adkins strength was not in giving interviews but more importantly he got the job done where it really matters. A good performance and a great win on Monday will certainly be a good starting point for winning the fans over.
  12. agree with your comments. I think back to Nigels strange comment the day we won promotion last season against Coventry. When we all were celebrating he was talking about a parting of the ways. That this would be inevitable at some point.
  13. Can't agree with it just being a matter of luck why we are out of the relegation zone. We all know surely that there is a very fine line between winning and losing at this level. You earn your own luck in football by working hard and keeping focused and playing quality football.. We are a much better side than we were at the beginning of the season and Nigel Adkins has to take the credit. We are now at the very least potentially a top ten premier club. Think back just three years ago could any of us ever have dreamed that we would be where we are today?
  14. What an absolute total disgrace! Nigel has turned the club around and also turned the season around and has been at the forefront of turning what the club stands for around by doing things the right moral way, which is something that had been lacking at our club for some time. We have to ask the question , why? I have to say I have supported saints for over 40 years and feel that Nigel has been the best manager that we have ever had and we get rid of him also following great results at Villa and Chelsea. Can't believe it!! disillusioned where do we go from here?
