I loved Adkins, but his lack of willingness to provide information and insight did annoy me. It's not like he would've been giving away key tactical decisions or anything, just some info on when fan favourite Lallana would be back. He took us from League One to the Premier League though, so hey...
-
Oh well.
-
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/10190358.Guly_out__Lallana_in_/ The Echo is reporting that Guly has a knee injury. Lallana still isn't 100%, so who on earth is going to fill in on the left? Surely De Ridder isn't PL starting standard? Tough call to make for the boss.

As far as I've heard, it's José (Jo-zay) Fonte (Font). As for the song, who cares if we stole it off Palace? We took their player, we get their song! Also I approve of the Human League chant!
-
No matter what anyone has said (and I've agreed with a lot of it), Cortese knows how to run a business, that's for sure. Good to hear.
-
I think you've misunderstood me, what I meant was the thread title -- "Survive and be backed or get relegated and be sacked??" -- is misleading, seeing as it seems to be about transfers.
-
What does the name of this thread have to do with transfers? I thought it was gonna be something about relegation with Adkins or survival with Pochettino, in which case I was going to say you were stupid. We don't need any more players, let's get on with the season and flourish.
-
I think he'll do okay, but I can't see any manager lasting more than a couple of years under the current running of the club (unless he does amazingly well, of course). I'm not having a go at Cortese, he's just very ambitious and unpatient. As for how Pochettino will do, I don't think he'll change the world, but he'll certainly keep us up and keep us on the move up the table.
-
He mainly plays in midfield now, either as a left winger or central attacking midfielder. He sometimes plays at left back like he used to as well, and occasionally as a central midfielder. As for our youth players, I did a little rundown on the Football Forums here; the main ones I'm looking out for are Sam Hoskins (striker, U21s), Calum Chambers (winger, U21s), Ryan Seager (striker, U18s), and Matt Targett (left back, U18s). We have a lot to look forward to, as usual.
-
Deserves more game time, and this would definitely be a good move despite being a rumour started here. Hope he finds a club to call home soon.
-
I think our stadium is fantastic.
-
Extremely true. I guess it's difficult to judge a league to have any 'fair play' when there is so much controversy and deception (milking) by players. Hope we win it though, I do.
-
First game under Pochettino, 2 yellow cards, not sure if this means anything but I really hope we'll be the top of this table and the Premier League in the top three come season end. I wouldn't go as far as saying it would be a European 'tour'... but it would be nice to watch a match or two!
-
I love the optimism, but I think the best we can hope for in the short-term is a top half finish, which IMO would be brilliant considering the oft-cited double promotion. Cortese and the board need to just have a little bit of patience to let Pochettino get to grips with the team and build the long-term future, and maybe one day we can be looking to push the likes of Everton, Tottenham, Arsenal and Newcastle for the Europa League places.
-
Everything about this is amazing. Hope they all have a well-deserved break/time out there.
-
I thought Guly played well. Surprised no one voted for Hooiveld, I thought he was solid at the back.
-
Forren and Yoshida are both purchases from this season, so I get the feeling they will make the initially favoured partnership. Unfortunately for Fonte his injury means he can't immediately claim his place in the XI, but hopefully he gets enough opportunity to prove himself and compete for the place. Obviously we don't know what Forren is like yet, so it's difficult to make a choice at the moment.
-
Frankly offended by the order that I'm not 'allowed' to be angry about the sacking. I'm the fan, I can feel what the **** I want. Sure the rest of the article was great, but I didn't read beyond that tripe.

Worst chairman in the world. Protest on Monday night?
-
Protest at Everton game, anyone? What's the official pro-Adkins chant on Monday?
-
Yeah sorry, hadn't seen it when I posted! No point rushing him back really, but can't take the risk... Boruc Clyne - Cork - Yoshida - Shaw Davis - Schneiderlin - Ramirez Puncheon - Lambert - Guly I have given up hoping for a 4-4-2, so I guess that'll be the lineup... Cork will probably be in midfield though, with Hooiveld at the back and Davis on the bench. If it was me I'd play Puncheon, Schneiderlin, Ramirez and Guly across the middle, then Lambs and Rod up the top.
-
Can't edit post apparently... Screw what I said, apparently Clyne will be back in time for Saturday! Fantastic news, he's been a godsend this year. I'd personally leave Cork in defence though, over Hooiveld.
-
Bit worried we'll concede a sloppy goal or two, but if we score first we'll win, and Villa will be way less willing and able than we are to come back from a deficit. Can see nothing but a Saints win here, hugely important we get the three points on Saturday. Clyne will still be out, so I can see Cork at RB and Davis in the centre of midfield again; Ramirez should be back and aiming to impress; awful choice in the centre of defence between Hooiveld and Seaborne really (unless you wanna put Richardson on the right and Cork/Schneiderlin in the middle!?); and we still need Lallana back, another start for Guly (been alright recently, knocking on the door). COYS really.
