Adkins. There was no reason to change, and it doesn't seem to be paying off any sort of results of note that we might not have got under Adkins. Nige was as much Southampton as Lallana or Cortese.

That said, Ox went from under Cortese after just a season with us... although I suppose we got a good price. I'd prefer to still have the player though... no money can replace raw talent and chemistry with the team.

He won't go this summer. I don't for one minute believe he'll spend his whole career with us, although I hope to the non-existent gods that he does.

Jos Hooiveld - bought in the Championship, decent CB for that level - £1.5mil 6. José Fonte - bought for £800k, a great player with decent experience - £3mil 7. Rickie Lambert - star striker but still a tad old, great goalscorer though - £5mil 8. Steven Davis - free transfer but clearly a top-flight player with room to grow - £4mil 9. Jay Rodriguez - star striker of the Championship and only getting better - £10mil 10. Gastón Ramírez - obviously a big buy but yet to prove himself more - £10mil 11. Billy Sharp - bought for £1.8mil, proven at Championship level - £2mil 12. Paulo Gazzaniga - bought for £2.5mil, very little experience at the moment - £2mil 13. Danny Fox - a very decent Championship player, but nothing more - £1.2mil 14. Dean Hammond - great Championship midfielder but getting on a bit - £2mil 15. Vegard Forren - who the hell knows?! - £4mil? 16. James Ward-Prowse - good player with lots of potential, still very young - £2mil 18. Frazer Richardson - Championship standard, but a solid purchase - £1.2mil 23. Luke Shaw - massive talent, loads of potential and everyone knows it - £12mil 24. Emmanuel Mayuka - bought for £3mil and nothing really proven yet - £2mil 25. Danny Seaborne - League One level, little experience but not awful - £500k 26. Jack Stephens - still only at under-21 level, decent potential - £800k 27. Richard Chaplow - Championship level, decent midfielder but ageing - £1.2mil 28. Calum Chambers - still young, but has some potential for Championship - £800k 29. Ben Reeves - more potential than most, and proven at least at Champ level - £1.2mil 30. Cody Cropper - young goalie with some potential but nothing proven - £600k 31. Artur Boruc - decent goalkeeper but very old now, still worth it - £2mil 32. Danny Butterfield - same level as Frazer Richardson but older - £1mil 33. Steve De Ridder - a good winger but no higher than Champ level - £1.5mil 34. Corby Moore - young player with decent potential but nothing proven - £600k 35. Sam Hoskings - another young player with more proven striking potential - £800k 36. Jake Sinclair - good young winger, decent potential as above - £800k 37. Dominic Gape - very young midfielder with potential potential (yep!) - £500k 38. Andy Robinson - same as above - £500k 39. Lloyd Isgrove - same as above - £500k 42. Jason Puncheon - decent winger who still has a lot of good years left - £6mil So... adding that up... it comes to £123.7mil... quite a lot really.

We're doing well enough for my liking. Good read as well, good to see youth and reserve (or 'development') football is cared about.

I don't want Adkins to face us, because I will always want him to succeed, and obviously that will be a conflict of interests. Obviously, if he does take on the Reading job, fine. Let's batter 'em.

A great striker in a ****e team, it's always the same story. Shame, but tbh I don't think he'd've helped the England side.

I must say, I was shocked with a few of his attempts yesterday. He's certainly lost his goal-scoring edge, although I'm sure in time he'll get it back, and he's still very important to the team as an assistant.

He'll be back, but Fonte played well when he came on and I never understood why he didn't start in the first place. Fonte to continue, Jos to be a good ol' sub again!
