  1. I'd take winning a trophy over finishing 8th any day of the week.
  2. Uruguay 3-3 England (Gaston hat-trick, Lambert double, Lallana)
  3. Would anybody really be against something like £4m for him?
  4. Yup, I agree. That is pretty much all he's been offering us upfront as of late.
  5. Grow up. And let's not defend Boruc too much... without his clanger at Arsenal who knows what the score might of been? And how that score would of affected subsequent games???
  6. Here's a positive: Saints lowering our expectations of them nice and early in the season, instead of making us all dream and f**king it all up towards the end like we always do.
  7. I'll eat my foot if we're top half.
  8. Cheers mate. Looking forward to my next visit. Been there many times, lovely place + people, and great nightlife down Hanover street.
  9. Mike Mcdonald??
  10. Absolutely appalling thread. Charlie/Duncan/***t ought to be ashamed of himself. If anyone needs to be banned from here it's you, you plank. Put it this way: Based only on what I know from posting habits, if I could choose one forum member to have a pint with, who would it be? That's right, probably one of Glasgow, Barry, Alpine or Bearsy. Might throw Colin into the mix if I'm in the mood for intellectual discussion. But the aforementioned four are the life of this forum - funny, clever, knowledgeable and above all, humble! All four of them seem safe, honest, decent people who are probably as enthralling in real life as they are on this forum. Great to be around and be with. Most of the rest of the posters are old opinionated ***** who for some reason take great pleasure in calling online posters trolls, mongs, bedwetters, etc. Wouldn't want to be around them in real life, and could really care less about the condescending self-important ****** they type here regarding footie and everything else. I, like most sane people, wouldn't want anybody banned and everyone is welcome here and entitled to their own opinion, however twisted/"wrong"/controversial it may be. Disgraceful thread.
  11. Perhaps our last chance to salvage our season? Maybe even for the manager to save his job? Absolute must-win. We've left ourselves no choice by refusing to win the easier games. I would go for a major shakeup of personnel and tactics to give our so called bigger names a much needed kick up the backside and wake up call. There's only one problem: there's nobody to replace them with!! Would love to post a starting XI but apart from Clyne, Lovren, and Lallana, I'm struggling to find anyone who deserves to start again after that shambolic performance against Villa. Your line-up?
  12. Brilliant. Much needed laugh on a sobering night.
  13. Must have a pretty loose definition for "ok"
  14. Cork was as gash as the rest of the team tonight... no need whatsoever to single him out.
  15. Should of read that post BEFORE I cried on my bed for 20 odd minutes.
  16. Need. Gaston. Back. (Fast)
  17. We showed plenty of energy tonight. Unfortunately the footballing brains reflective of our manager - that of a 9 year old.
  18. This 100%. Could not agree more if I died trying. Always felt this Poch feller to be a bit of a muppet tbh. Good tactician, strong sense of leadership/management/being in control, but all things considered a bit dull and could be a little brighter to really succeed in this business. Wonder how much longer this dreadful run can continue before Nicola has enough and sends the muppet packing. I for one couldn't care less and wouldn't shed a tear to see the back of him.
  19. "One-sided game" "We dominated" "Freakish result" "Lost to a worldy" "Unlucky tonight" I'm sorry folks, but to have 77% possession and end up losing means we are absolutely gash. What that possession means is we had 90*0.77 = 69 minutes of the ball at our players' feet to do more or less whatever we wanted with it. There are plenty of choices a football team in possession could make. We could choose to peg the opposition back and penetrate their backline with incisive passing, choose to bombard their defence and keeper with crosses and shots, or even choose to wear them out with quick one touch passing and lots of intelligent off the ball running. Instead, for 69 minutes, here's what we chose to do: Run around aimlessly, with or without the ball, being as ineffective as possible (Rodriguez:facepalm:) Lounge about in and around the 18 yard box doing nothing in particular (Lambert:facepalm:) Try fancy little tricks and end up losing the ball (Osvaldo:facepalm:) Play the ball sideways, then sideways again, and sideways again (Cork:facepalm:) Make surging runs with the ball, go nowhere, end up cutting back, play ball sideways (Shaw:facepalm:) If all else fails, HOOF! (Fonte, Yoshida) (Thought Davis, Lallana, Clyne, and the ever dependable Lovren had solid, if unspectacular nights.) In the end, football is all about the choices that you make, and making sure you make the right choices. Credit to Villa, they didn't have that many choices to make with only 23% possession - yet made the right one everytime! If we have 77% of the ball against a (let's be honest) quite mediocre side with an especially weak defence, and we only create as many clear cut chances and score as few goals as we did, we only have ourselves to blame. Kiss the Champions League, top 6, top 8, and perhaps even a top 10 finish goodbye. Awful, awful night.
  20. This. As the most optimistic fan on these forums, even I would kiss CL qualification goodbye if we fail to win today.
  21. A simple glance would of sufficed.
  22. MASSIVE game tonight can't bloody wait!! Nothing less than a win will do. Preferably with some goals... like to see at least 3.
  23. You mean we gifted these goals to the opposition? Big difference between sloppy mistakes and "luck."
  24. Great to see many have restored faith in what is and will prove to be a quality football player! Bazza:facepalm:
