  1. You misunderstand my point, I've not said I 'expect' it to be taught equally in sex education, and I've not said kids aren't tolerant. But never mind, I'm bailing on the debate.
  2. Have you got a link to highlights, Vectis?
  3. I got bored pretending to be a militant feminist.
  4. I'm not sure we're disagreeing over much. In fact the nuances we're arguing over probably aren't worth the effort we're putting into it. How about we agree to disagree? Let's make it a forum first.
  5. Eh? I'm referencing being gay being completely normalised. I'm saying if it's not completely normalised within our society (sex education being an example) then it's inevitable kids have to go through the experience of coming out. Therefore a footballer doing so is a positive thing. On Eva, I was referencing when she got crowd abuse. A few on here said similar - it's only a couple people, she should get a thicker skin...
  6. Well, I hope that has sufficiently answered your question, W9Saint!
  7. I agree. But I can also see the positives, especially for kids going through a similar experience. Until being gay is completely normalised across all aspects of life (including school education) how can we fairly say it's a fuss over nothing.
  8. Well yeah, and that was the argument used against Eva Carneiro as well. "Need to get a thicker skin" blah blah. I say, unless you've experienced it yourself, it's hard to take your suggestion seriously.
  9. Lol. Hypo couldn't hack me agreeing with him, so had to revert to type! I might try agreeing with him more often!
  10. I agree with you, Hypo (did I just say that?) But you'd have to guarantee a display of nonchalance across the board. I'm happy to wait and see if that happens before I make any assumptions.
  11. Not sure why you feel so proud having someone gay play for Saints, Turks. A bit right on, but ok, up to you. Now if you were to say you would feel proud if one if our players had the balls to come out, in a sport that has traditionally demonstrated homophobia, then I'd agree with you. But you didn't.
  12. That would be fine and dandy, Turks, in a world where homophobia didn't exist. But unfortunately it does. Much as you try and dismiss in as #bantz.
  13. I think you'll find Saints supporters are a more moderate bunch than others around the country. I think it's great they're coming out, and I hope it their own decision to do so, and being done under their terms. I think it's a big moment in football's development that should be celebrated. I think any abuse from fans should involve life bans, but maybe people are a bit more relaxed about these days....you never know! If it's a Saints player, I think they'd get a standing ovation - I'd be enormously proud.
  14. Well at least BBC thought van Dijk was motm. Though also gave Liverpool a couple of ideas: "How Liverpool could do with forwards like Mane and Graziano Pelle, who now have 13 goals between them in all competitions this season."
  15. Don't disagree with the sentiment of your post SOG. But I also think the choice is down to the individual, and no one should feel pressurised about making a statement about their private lives if they don't want to, whether or not there's a greater benefit. The more speculation, the more pressure.
  16. And those pushing these 'rumours' should be bloody ashamed of themselves. I hope that's the point you're making with this statement.
  17. Coxy isn't me SIW! I suspect their name comes from surname rather than previous location in my case...
  18. Haha, that would be brilliant!
  19. Harsh, Whelk. Don't think anyone was boasting - they were responding (very slowly) to a direct question. This forum, for its many strengths/weaknesses, is hardly a haven for braggarts of kindliness. Sometimes it's the little things that make the big difference. Most may be capable, but not everyone makes the effort. But no apologies needed.
  20. Yes, I wonder what that's a consequence of. Too long away from running?
  21. Does anyone else think it ironic that those who are most critical of Cortese's nastiness, are attacking posters who defend him, in such an unsympathetic way. Most confusing!
  22. Wow guys, these are seriously nice stories!
  23. Old Chinese proverb: Wherever there are chicks, you'll always find a cock.

    Nuts

I like all nuts. But I would particularly single out pistachios and cashews for special treatment.
