  1. I must say congratulations to the CoT leaders for this top trolling of those desperate for info of absolutely anything happening with this 🙌
  2. I still find it baffling that the period in which we produced the best players was one without a playbook, Southampton Way, Manifesto blah and where we just employed some excellent coaches who knew what they were doing without the need for a beginners user manual.
  3. For balance, also Neil McCann
  4. This just shows that a manager/head coach needs time to be able to implement a style of play, and given the years of struggle we’ve faced and modern life’s expectancy of immediate positive results when something changes, Saints fans had become impatient. The team itself would need additions to survive in the Premier League but 16 matches unbeaten is a fantastic achievement, and the attitude in the camp seems a long step away from the defeatist acceptance of bad results that seemed so prevalent, from boardroom to the pitch. Long may it continue. Well done RM, the team and how it has responded to RM, and the new board for their support so far.
  5. Ralph. Ze bad feelings.
  6. Superb effort that from El Scales
  7. West Brom might not be Barca but we are Valladolid and not Real Madrid 😎
  8. Nobody like him, nobody cares
  9. Cool, thanks for the advice 😎
  10. Indeed we did, but when I wrote this post on 15th September, we hadn’t 🤩
  11. Plenty of Saints fans mention it but none I’ve spoken to are particularly bothered. We have bigger fish to fry.
  12. To play a possession based game, you need to have players with high technical ability, speed to move in to space and high levels of fitness to keep playing that way. There’s nothing revolutionary going pn tactically but if you don’t have the players, you can’t play the system. That’s what RM needs to consider. Get some of the principals of play established alongside winning football, then improve the squad and tactics as you progress from a base of success.
  13. Comedy. People thinking they are better than they are. Hmmm, that could work.
  14. Whilst a new manager might get us playing better and being harder to beat, is this really a top 6 team? I see mistake after mistake with these players, playing casually with no intensity, and that’s on them as individuals. For anything better to happen, players also need to take a long hard look at themselves.
  15. Russ Abbott? Willy Russell?
  16. Whoops. Not great. What a squad though. Top 6, automatic promotion takes care of itself. Oh, what’s that? Relegation fodder you say?
  17. I still believe there is a hangover from previous years inside the club, because there are still plenty behind the scenes who still remain. Players are molly coddled and protected inside the Staplewood bubble, and then when they have to fend for themselves in front of a crowd, seem to fold like a cheap deck of cards. I, like most, was prepared to give RM plenty of time but fuck me does he need to find a way for a team to stop leaking goals and being so easy to play through. So many in football now seem to feel like they have to justify their high earnings by making it seem like they are doing something incredibly complicated. it's faux intellectualisation and it's ridiculous. People like Paisley weren't busy because they were sat behind their laptops analysing inverted transitions, they were busy watching other games, watching players who might add to their teams, understanding character and adding to their understanding of a living breathing game. Of course there are complexities, but that's mostly in human performance science to get people in shape but Joe Wicks is good at that, and he's no brains of Britain. Football is a simple game made complicated by people. He's on borrowed time, with fans at least. Sport Republic may just have yet another cock up on their hands unless Russ can be convinced that winning football is about finding solutions to get the ball from one end to the other and going in one net, and not your own.
  18. Not bollocks at all. That’s not a quality team out there and I’m not in denial. The system could be better to get the best out of them but the experienced players out there are still carrying the low spirit of the past few seasons. Deny it all you want, and plenty agree with you clearly but the core problem remains. No fight, players hiding, weak mentality. We’ve had 4 managers in as many years and none have been able to sort that out. That suggests something underlying.
  19. Not that he’s doing a great job at the moment but last night showed again that the belief in the quality of the players we have may be a little bit over the top. The squad is not that great in reality. Sulemana for one showed why he couldn’t get a move away as he’s just not proven he can. And that problem of commitment and spirit still remain and that’s been apparent for some time. Not a chance at this rate this squad gets promoted, regardless of the manager.
  20. Anyone blaming Bazunu tonight wasn’t watching the absolute weak melts playing in front of them today. Piss poor by many, senior pros hiding. Not many positives at all. But Bazunu not to blame at all.
  21. Not sure the nostrils would appreciate it 😎
  22. Will do well on a December night fixture in Grimsby.
  23. Clear shape, stays in position, particularly in the wind.
