  1. Any talk of a European super league is leverage to get more money from uefa for the champions league. A super league would likely fail as soon as Man Utd or any other realise they might go 15 years or more without winning anything if they split from their country's league.
  2. Surely the big problem here is that unless all the other clubs don't do it, and especially the big ones who probably don't give two hoots, then we'd be at a disadvantage with the increased revenue they'd have and we didn't, however small it is. The agents will already be making sure their 'clients' are getting the biggest slice of the pie so there probably isn't going to be that much money left to reduce ticket prices anyway. Unfortunate as that is, I think the club is in a very difficult position on this topic as it is not straightforward and the likes of Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs who will probably do what they want because they can due to the size of their fan bases and or their fans ability and willingness to pay will cock it up for everyone else. The best way to get the club to the point where it makes sense to even think about reducing ticket prices is probably buy more merchandise and get to the ground and have your pre match pint(s) and pie there instead of going elsewhere until 5 minutes before kick off.
  3. The shame (with that England team) is that there is only one Chelsea player there and they come south and nick players who probably should really join us and develop properly.
  4. It won't be long before premier league grounds are pretty much sterile environments and then the TV product will diminish because there will be little atmosphere to keep it as an exciting spectacle. It's getting bad enough already but the higher the ticket price, the less likely it is for younger (note likely to be vocal) fans come and the premier league deals may begin to drop as the popularity will decrease globally when the matches are a sanitised product. I don't blame clubs like saints but those at the top who feed the media excitement over bigger deals. The rich may get richer but the product of live sport withough a decent atmosphere will not be as appealing and a result of keeping a richer mix of fan types.
  5. Good luck to them, at least they are trying something different
  6. Definitely does not read like 'soccer schools' to me, it's working with existing clubs!
  7. Doesn't it say it will help the coaches, working hand in hand with them, as in help them develop their coaches? Rome wasn't built in a day but seems like a solid approach
  8. Some of the under armour gear is really good and is getting as good if not better than Nike or adidas so hope the saints shop has more than just team kit as you can't really get it in any other shops. Excited about all the new things we could be doing with saints clothing if they are as ambitious as under armour
  9. The demise of the annoying Jim White cannot come soon enough
  10. A return to Italy surely most likely, and at his age £5m would be good value
  11. I wonder how many other clubs are helping the nation's health. Top stuff from the red and whites
  12. Ha ha, some might argue Townsend is as effective as a nicely trimmed bush
  13. The story is a Spurs leak to try and get NUFC topiary with the cash most likely. Nice side effect is potentially destabilising a player for a rival as well
  14. We should probably also thank the medical staff for this one
  15. Wasn't Mane linked with Man Utd just before we played them earlier in the season? Wonder if this is a trend for other clubs of so...
  16. Why don't we just save ourselves for the launch and get excited on that day...it's a much better feeling than seeing a leaked version
  17. With all due respect, the original post suggests you don't have a clue.
  18. The original post suggests a massive degree of ignorance at how the media works, and as such the post should be locked and deleted. And probably an apology to Mr Sibley perhaps for the sensationalist response, which I believe is what you are against should be forthcoming!
  19. We won't be in Europe if Farage and his following vote us out either
  20. We either 'risk' a short term signing for a decent bit of money and spend to get us back up the table so we look like a decent prospect for players to join/not leave in the summer or we sleepwalk to the end of the season and run the risk of being closer to Newcastle United than Man Utd. Damage needs to be repaired after the last close season's efforts.
  21. Let this happen please, or at least for him to leave Spurs
  22. Interesting comment. I have often wondered why we got rid of Jason Dodd when he was coaching. He had a link to the club and played for us through thick and thin. That is the true Southampton Way. We need a little bit of that fire from people who have been through the good and bad times and it's difficult to see where that comes from at the moment, on and off the pitch. Forgive me if I'm wrong but the current board have only ever been involved on the way up, even if under the alleged crazy days of Nicola. They can't remember the really dark days so may just have become too complacent with the hype. This is what worries me more than anything. Time for leadership in more than just words.
  23. If you'd been there yesterday you'd have seen that he could have probably played on. I think this agenda against Clasie of yours is pretty misplaced.
  24. Long gets heat from those who desperately chase this agenda yet the ponderous and ineffectual Tadic gets off Scott-free.
  25. Anyone watching the game today would have seen that Clasie was one of the best players, and not in any way the problem. With soares and Juanmi I'm inclined to agree but mainly with the view that we should have gone all out to get better players.
