Not sure why everyone is saying Reed out, he may be the spokesperson but I believe he is not the one who makes all the decisions on recruitment of managers and players, I think it is a 3 man panel including Kruger. Maybe we need Freddie Kruger

For my mates son who has missed 2 home games since the cup final in Feb. The 2 games? Palace and West Ham, so net result no goals seen. He is keeping the faith..for now. Maybe he should stay away! On another note if it was not for his agent we would have signed Chalobah, shame he looked physically strong and skilful in the middle of the park, something we miss.

CP did not go for just the results there were bigger issues going on, relationship with players, lack of attendance at the training ground, communication issues etc. As for J Rod and SG, the former got very little support from fans last year, other than Bournemouth he struggled to impress when given a chance. I actually did not want him to go, but the club favour the 3 in situ. SG did not get a real chance pre season but could not make an impact. The issue we have: midfielders are not scoring and support to the striker is not quick enough, plus we have no Pelle to hold the ball up, Redmond should have scored yesterday. Lets face it, this team with the same players, pushed United in the cup final and looked dangerous, confidence is not there at the moment. The Lemina choice is strange a lot of money for a defensive midfielder when we have Clasie and Hojberg, we need a player who can beat a man and score, sadly Boufal has not replaced Mane, Redmond has not kicked on, Tadic has gone backwards and Davis is not getting younger. The fans are getting a bit fed up and negative which is understandable, but the talent is there, the confidence is not. MP is now getting stick, the only thing I would say is that we should be a bit braver at home against teams below the top 6, 2 sitting midfield players, time to rethink?

So now it appears he was getting fed up with the press speculation about getting sacked on a daily basis which is why he left QPR. He quickly added his knee hurt as it was winter, what a load of rubbish. 'No I did not bottle it.' He then goes on to explain how he rescued Pompey twice and Saints was always a difficult job. He added Sandro is now playing and this is a big difference, he was unavailable when he was manager. It is all about how good he is and how unlucky he was. I don't think he will ever admit to being an average manager! Not sure why the media love him so much?

I am sure a lot of you saw the chat between the lads today. Merson now thinks Arsenal will finish 15 points ahead of Saints and not 20! Loving Le Tiss's wry smile. All praised Mane's goal although Charlie Nicholas kept saying poor defending. However they all praised Davis saying how underrated he is. Thommo particularly praised Davis as a top player, Merson said he is a 8/9 out of 10 every match.

You have to consider what the crime is. So if I am recruiting a person to work with vulnerable people and they have a positive DBS I will look at this and want to know more: How long ago was it? Was it a serious offence, e.g. GBH, rape, death by dangerous driving? Has the perpetrator of the offence acknowledged if he/she was wrong. If there is no acknowledgement then the liklehood is they could do the same thing again. This guy has a combination of serious offence and no apology. Who decides? Well the law is clear on what job sex offenders cannot work in. There is no law on football hence the moral dilemma and hence the debate, I was merely adding my view, which is supported by many others.

The point I am making here is that convicted rapists should not be allowed to have certain jobs and in my opinion this includes football.
-
Sheff Utd should do the right thing and bin him. Let's face it he is a convicted rapist, so he cannot work in the community. There are certain jobs sex offenders are not allowed to have, nursing, teacher, social worker etc, football should come under this category in my opinion. Can you imagine if people are going around with Evans T shirts. I don't think any sponsor will hang around and they will lose celebrities involved with the club, we can already see this happening. I think as a club they will stand to lose more. Let's face it if he was an average defender he would have already gone, they are hanging on because he is a goal scorer IMO. However as the storm clouds gather, with the media hyping it up on a daily basis they will not keep him, unless the board all have elephant skin!

I was at the Hull game and we sang out hearts out. I think there was a 20 minute continuous singing of 'Oh when the Saints.' Liking the Magic song for Grazziano. Long journey but it was well worth it. My cousin is a Hull fan so he gave me and my son a lift from his home to the game (along with 2 Hull mates)! They were quiet at the end but full of praise for the Saints and the noisy fans!:D:D

I see that Iwan was on the One show getting autographs for a woman (Liverpool fan) who is over 100. All very nice, however he ruins it by saying he got autographs of Liverpool legends...then he mentioned Lallana. I have seen him at the Saints games, come on Iwan there was your chance to ask the turn coats...'was it worth it?' Now he may have been booted off the One show, but it would have been worth it.

Rubbish. Second in the league playing well and we are pushed down the running order and about 10 mins of the game (did not even show Long's one on one opportunity). We had Phil Neville laughing saying he had us to go down and then when he started talking about us, Lineker interrupted him and asked him about QPR. Come on we need more air time BBC!
-
Let's face it we have been poor for many years. We have had the odd good game here and there but we have been generally average and lose to a better class of team. Since Gazza left we have lost our way! I am not sure why we are being canned tonight, the Swiz are not the greatest but they had a good World Cup to be fair.

I think the problem is the link play between the 3 up top last year was so good. This was often pointed out by TV pundits, RL, Jay Rod and AL's movement and intelligent play gained us many goals. Classic example was Fulham home last year. To recreate that will be tough. Suddenly J Rod will have to play with new guys who think differently. I think we look solid as a team and Yoshida should be given credit because he has come in and played well. The problem will be the guys up top working together to score goals, we have not got a world class forward player who will create something out of nothing. At the WBA game Long put a perfect through ball in, but Tadic stopped running. Now last season that could have been a goal because the understanding between the players was so good. I think we are going to have to be patient and accept the fact that goals and points this season will be harder to come by. As most Saints fans have said I do feel we need pace to come into the team. As good as we were last year we did not have a player with blistering pace to come off the bench. On Saturday you looked at the bench and wondered who could come on and make a difference. However I do think Long can cause problems if he plays down the middle, not wide. Management is so easy!

So blond locks Robbie thinks we will go down...after 2 games! As much as Lawro is canned on the forum he was right when he said he is not sure where the goals are going to come from. Pelle appears to be quite sluggish and although Rickie was at times, he had clever movement, held it up and could ping a decent pass. At the moment Pelle seems to be too slow in the feet and the mind, in the prem you don't get a lot of time on the ball, otherwise he gets taken off you. Once Tadic ran out of ideas we lost our way. VM and MS are good solid centre mids, defence looks good and FF does look composed and confident, really liking him. I just worry about the creativity up front. Tadic can but we need more. Poor old Long then played wide and it is not his position. Gaston would offer us some options up front when he returns. It was a shame Taider did not come on when Cork did. As much as I like JC I think we required a more forward thinking player. Away from home I think this is the best line up, it looks solid, but at home I really think we need to be more positive, Pelle is left up on his own and we then start humping long balls to him...which come straight back as he often mistimed his jumps. Surely long balls to the big man up top is not the Southampton way? Still early days and I am sure the team will gel better once they play more as a unit. I know a lot of WHU fans and I really don't want us to lose next week...please!

Going to be confirmed that Poch will go through the official site soon. Shaw and Lallana to go too. Could be a tough season, but still got some decent players. Need a good manager and regroup.
-
May be worth a punt. It is likely that most will disagree as he plays in the Scottish league. Just like the look of him, good movement, good eye for goal and only 21. We are a sort of team that has to take a risk on these types of players.
-
Really nice touch with the number 9 shirt. However it felt a little like the team were still mourning a player who is out for 6 months. I felt they carried this into the game, nobody now wants to get injured...Brazil is around the corner! While I understood how they players felt last week after the injury happened, we are a week on and there still seems to be a hangover. Come on let's move on (we have no JRod now) we can't let Stoke and Newcastle catch us! On another note I felt it was a good chance for GR to step up. Apart from some nice touches he really disappointed again.

Don't ruin my thread by picking holes in my argument!

For predicting we will lose 1 nil to Spurs. If this is his prediction then the guy cannot be trusted to make sound decisions as PM. There is a correlation between footie predictions and sound decision making in life.

The next 4 games really will tell us how close we are to the big boys. It is coming at a good time. After the Swansea game I wrote a thread that we had not clicked yet and faced some criticism for this. However we now have, because players have now got used to the system and the right players are playing in the right position. We are playing sustained periods in the game where we are on fire and it is great to watch. We are getting credit, but people may be holding back to see how we go against Arsenal and Chelsea. Do well here and we can start dreaming!

Says the Sunday Times. A relentless unit, brilliant youngsters and a goal scored from a cross almost in Fergie time.....that is Saints not United Northcroft talks about in his article. He also says Saints, not Man U are the team 2 points off second and they are worthy of such heights. The rise of Swansea has attracted the headlines and hipsters but some of the focus will be moving to St. Mary's.
-
When I say click, I mean play a match where a substantial period of the game we are 'on fire'. We did this last season mainly against some of the bigger teams at home. J Rod for Ricky or Dani. I agree with one of the respondents that he is not as technically good, but it is about playing the right team to fit the system. I also agree with the view that we have sacrificed a little in order to keep it tight at the back. Anyway we are 4th, so happy days!
-
Really pleased how well we have started, great defence, fair play to the boys. Watching yesterday it did strike me again how we have a one paced team, although Shaw and Clyne do have pace. This meant that Swansea were able to squeeze up, deny us space and pushed us into long balls, knowing we were not going to hurt them with balls over the top. This also helped Canas and Shelvey dominate the centre midfield area, plus Dyer gave us a problem. The Dani/Ricky combo is not really working and I think J Rod has to play due to the fact he does have some pace and it is probably a better combination. I don't want this to be a moaning post, because we have done really well so far, it is just a concern, which seems to be shared by other Saints fans I have spoken to...in fact many season ticketholders feel we are yet to click this season. So if we do, then it could be even happier days!
