Nathan Redmond Joins on 5 Year Deal - Official
UpweySaint replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Not had the best season but I rate him and he has shown enough for the u21's and in flashes for Norwich to make me think he might be worth the punt. True, prices are getting steeper with the money flowing around the prem. Does he count as one of the eight home grown (not at club) for Europa though? We might but it depends on demand. If we are to believe rumours Redmond had several suitors - if we got lucky and a few teams decided they wanted Wanayama we may be able to achieve high teens for him. -

We tried, and failed, to sign Gray. Redmond has top level experience that Gray does not and comes from a club on a much more sound financial footing. Hopefully he can be developed with us and, at the 10-11 mil mooted, is not a mega money move based on current standards and the 'english player' premium. -
1. You area number 1 knob. 2. Kindly go elsewhere. 3. You are still a knob. 4. You are not interesting. 5. In 3-5 years you will still be an utter knob ... 6. Bore off ...

Have to consider your motives coming on here at this point? What do you honestly expect us to say? No problem with Everton or their fans but you're not barca. I think most of us actually believed Roko was a man of his word and we did not expect him to push for a move unless it was to a major European player.
-
Chuffed for him, look how much it means to him! Whether or not he makes it with us he is the sort of player who really deserves a decent career.
-
Is this 5 want out or you expect all 5 to be allowed to go?
-
Celtic used to be a club with ambition ... this could be fun!
-
Does this mean we will do a Leicester and just keep the form rolling all the way through the next season? In all seriousness, this has been a very good season, hopefully we can keep the squad together and push on again next time around. Would love a 'proper' go at Europe!
-
Not that I think he is off but even Koeman said players are more loyal to the club then the manager (paraphrasing a little but that was his point). As gutted as I would be if Roko left you have to hope that all the club PR about being bigger than any individual and having a plan is true. After each of our last few managerial changes we have continued to do well and the hope is that we would not fall apart on Koeman leaving. The expectation was we would do so on Poch and Cortese et al doing so but we didn't. Though your point is a reasonable one, if there was considerable worry about a managerial change and the future direction of the club you would not expect clever agents to be signing up good talents to the club for such long deals.
-
Basically this. Though I would be gutted to lose Mane in particular and I think Romeu has not yet shown he could dominate a midfield in quite the same way as Wanayama. The thing is there is a very real difference between trusting the board and expecting them to throw money around. The board have good intentions for the club. They are not milking it or running it like a vanity project. Will we sell players we would like to keep? Yes, probably. Will the replacements come in and be instant world beaters? Doubtful. But year on year they, we, have proved doubters wrong. The league will be tougher again but there is no reason we can't add to our promising squad and be right in the mix again next season.

Potential, just been caught out defensively too often and our other options aren't great. Don't think anybody has written him off yet but not quite hit the heights - has the makings of a decent modern full back.
-
Give the lad time. He was a bargain for a reason and a low-risk gamble. If we can get him fit he could be a cracking player for us for a few seasons to come - if not - well, we tried.
-
Not sure why he has not seen more action (not ready to be a starter for sure but must have been worth more than 10 mins?) and quite liked him last season. Plenty of rumours have done the rounds about attitude/willingness to go out on loan etc. Personally hope he goes out on loan next season either championship or even league one and gets to be a regular in a first team to see if he can develop his game. The lad is obviously decent and has potential but does not mean he will realise his full potential or develop into a top class player.

The commentary/build up has barely even mentioned us, like we are there to make up the numbers. Much as I want Leicester to win the league would love to see us come back into this and rain on everyone's parade! Encouraging signs when we came back into it and I think we can consider ourselves unlucky to be behind. We have options on the bench and hopefully we will come up fired up - like to see Mane play with a point to prove after not taking that chance, a lot of our better stuff seems to come through finding him on the run or clasie picking out cedric in space.
-
Yeah if anybody knows the formation answers on a postcard!
-
Can't help but feel Pelle is the wrong man to be bringing on here with us maybe needing an out ball later on ... love to be wrong though Maybe tadic or mane on for austin later on.

Let's leave the mighty terras out of this

......and so what about summer signings?

Similar sort of player, rumours are lots of big clubs are after him but money talks and could be worth a shout for next season should Mane go or not. -
Had them in an acca, cashed out as I had a Spurs win on there too.

Sisto. Thought he looked lively against us and he's just put Utd to the sword. Sign the lad up! -
Poch wouldn't leave Spurs for Chelsea or Man U
UpweySaint replied to Wes Tender's topic in The Saints
Apart from a fair few more quid I can't see any team in England being able to offer him much more than Spurs currently. Not happy with how he left us in the lurch and allegedly unsettled the players but he is clearly a talented coach. Imagine his next move - should he continue on his current trajectory - would be outside of England to a top European side. -
Interesting line up, good to see Fraser back in, gives me more confidence.
-
Oh come now, you know I meant an equivalent, though Sharp was a class act it has to be said.

Did the job we needed at the time, no more, no less. Think we could do with same again.
