  1. Unfortunately this lad seems to have fallen short again, with Eriksens first game back expected to be at St Mary's.
  2. I'm going to take this as a joke, very blunt sense of humour. Gerrard ran the midfield and watching him and cleverly dealing with a situation was funny at times. He still has so much to give us, cleverly is someone still playing due to his club.
  3. Lallana has been twice as good as Townsend. Every time Townsend ets ithe accelerates and loses it, Lallana gets it and finds a man in space with a chance to score. Also putting himself about off the ball too. Adam>Townsend
  4. It is easy to forget just how integral AOC was to the England team prior to injury. If fit I'd expect Roy to choose him. What I think Adam has to his advantage is that he is the only natural LM, with welbeck, Milner and AOC filling in at times due to Walcott and Townsend being so one sided. Adam brings something different.
  5. Hart, ruddy, butland Walker, Jones, smalling, Cahill, jagielka, Cole, Baines Gerrard, Wilshire, lampard, Carrick Walcott, Milner, Townsend, Lallana, Ox, Rooney, sturridge, Lambert, welbeck My 23 realistic to who hodgson will probably choose. Standby: Clyne, Morrison, Barkley, berianho
  6. There us always a pick that no1 would have guessed at this point in the season, I think there will be someone, probably young, that hasn't been mentioned yet. I wreckon the west brim lad with the Brazilian name, berinho?
  7. I wouldn't worry about England too mu after that, they've played a boring brand of football for a while now and I think we pretty much know the world cup team. Unfortunately our players won't feature much as they don't fit the slow, regimented style of England.
  8. Our players are playing in the wro system. We play with the striker pressing and one of the cms helping. Lallana and j rod (Lallana more so) have been given very defensive roles in markig the full backs. Unfortunately j rod is scared of giving it away, therefore retaining possession by passing backwards. Johnson not helpig Lallana and I feel they show too much respect to some of the "stars" and should do what they do best.
  9. Will be interesting to see what part Shaw plays on Tuesday as I've heard he's gone home for a couple of days as he's nursing a knock he got, I'm imagining for the challenge that warrented a second yellow. Hopefully Southgate doesn't risk him and we aren't relying on fox to deal with arsenal.
  10. The writer of that article went to itgen college, I've not read it yet so don't know if he's mentioned being from Southampton yet. He got a scholarship I think with Pittsburgh, so I doubt the Americans would really be taking note. When I was out there for 2 months this summer barely any of them knew of us unless they followed a side religiously out there.
  11. Welbeck out surely now between our boys for lw
  12. Lambert has to play over Ossie. 2 assists and a goal last game. Been playing so well as a front 4 over the past month and last time we played away against a big team (united) Ossie up front didn't work. Lambert will hold the ball up and allow us to get numbers forward on the counter which we do so quickly. Plus, putting him on Gibbs at the far post would be a great opportunity like Adkins used to have him do.
  13. Steve De ridder looks class Idiakez was a superb signing and best set piece specialist in the league Wilde spending was a good thing Birmingham would beat us 3-4 when they pulled us back to 3-2 Harry redknapp would keep us up
  14. What were the new songs? Heard the England ones but was watching at home. Atmosphere gets going at st Mary's once we scored and are playing well, so 1st half yesterday. I remember when the chants and atmosphere inspired performance on the pitch, not the other way around.
  15. With the position we are in, despite it not being the clubs policy, I feel any buys would HAVE to be players from the premier league. If around the top 4 and we bought another Ramirez, who took all season to adapt to the league, it will stop us in our tracks. Someone like Chamberlain is perfect, WC hopeful, creative, attacking, Paget, but most important is hard working off the ball and will take no time to adapt. Also feel we could flex our muscles with our lofty league position, so maybe cabaye, Ben arfa, Barkley?
  16. Having watched how we were torn apart last season by arsenal, we need to make sure that we track their full backs providing the width as last year our full backs were sucked in with the midfielders and they got in behind us too easily. Also it will be a big game for MS and VW to overcome that arsenal midfield.
  17. Unfortunately wanyama has that awful goal giving mistake in his locker. Boruc showed him where to pass it, easy pass to right back where he can see. Changes the game!
  18. Have you seen the price of hull tickets? Cheaper travel maybe, but hardly any point reducing those ticket prices.
  19. What a signing Schneiderlin was by Rupert Lowe in the championship. Had the long term in mind obviously.
  20. I thought he looked quite good Saturday. Good run forward past a couple of players before he was fouled and a great run (wrongly given offside) almost getting the winner.

    Left Back

You've literally written my exact thoughts. I only wonder if cresswell would want to play understudy to such a young left back of the same nationality.

    Top 8?

This was always going to be the season that the gap between the 'top 6' and 'the rest' was going to close and that teams like ourselves had a real chance of causing a shock. It's a season of transition certainly for united, city, Everton and even Chelsea too all with new managers. Spurs without bale and a whole new team. Arsenal are performing above expectations for now, as are Liverpool, but this will fade. Saints, having won at anfield and drew at old Trafford are playing their best football and making it difficult. I think we can do what we did last season under poch, beating the big teams at home and now we are better. The only thing that will stop us is inconsistency against poorer teams and injuries.
  23. Blind pessimism? As far as I see it, our fitness would overrun them like it does every team. This gap will only have been widened after their 120+ minutes midweek and our week off to focus on this very game.
