Personally I don't see the big issue with this one. I agree he was massively over-hyped when he first burst onto the scene and was even hailed as England's future at one point, however at the age and possible price we could get him I think it would be a decent signing for us. As some have mentioned his ability to inject a bit of pace and direction into our attacking play must be worth a punt and he still has time to improve. I would however like to see a clause inserted into his contract that he can only cut inside and shoot 3 times in any one game. It got very repetitive and obvious when I used to see him play in what at the moment I guess would be called his heyday.

Aren't a lot of their financial problems coming mainly from the ever growing monster which is the Premier League??? Personally I think the wealth should be spread so we have a much more even playing field. I know this means we might have to accept pompey getting a share but we know they will just waste it all on brown envolopes from their new superstore so don't panic too much.

I'm torn for what to hope for tonight. Heading to my Liverpool supporting mate's house to watch it but I've warned him I'll be cheering for the ref! Guess a draw is the best result for us in terms of the league but I can't bring myself to hope for a 0-0! I wouldn't mind Liverpool picking up a few injuries meaning the three amigos have to start against us in a couple of weeks. Plenty of abuse for AL and DL with SRL getting the heroe's welcome.

I guess you're right to be fair. I'm just trying to give the lad some credit for it really as you don't often see players not making a meal of every little thing these days. Same with the Sterling incident against Swansea a few months ago, I think they both should have had punishment and it shows some inconsistancy from the panel who decide on these things. And I don't think he had time to move out the way as he was looking the other way up until the very last second from what I saw. He should have laughed off the situation as it looked like he was going to, then he just switched!

Every time he talks I fall a little bit more under his spell! Undoubtably now my fave manager since WGS and to be honest he doesn't have far to go before he is my favourite ever of any managers anywhere!!

Same here scotty. As I said previously, I think it's largely down to McArthur's reaction (or rather his lack of one either way) which has helped Pearson escape punishment.

Just thought I'd add my thoughts on this........... Greatest..........game.............ever!!!! Played it non stop for the first 2 days after I got it and although there are certain games I've spent more of my life playing (FM!!!) I can honestly say none have been anywhere near as fun and engrossing as this.

In the interest of fairness, couldn't the Premier League share the pot amongst all 72 teams outside the top flight but only giving pompey 10% of the figure they should get. Than they could agree to only give them 7% of the 10% figure and so on and so forth.

Other notable winners include: Spray tan shops in areas such as Cheshire, North London and Manchester Plastic surgeons in areas such as Cheshire, North London and Manchester Pointlessly overpriced clothing shops in areas such as Cheshire, North London and Manchester Nail bars in.......well you get the drift. Footballers wives are the main winners here!

Think you've got me wrong guv!! Was just giving my thoughts on this due to my convenient location (I am actually sat roughly 50metres away from their stadium right now) and not due to my affiliation which is well and truly Saints!! Apart from that though you make good points about them learning from the Sven experiment and also Ian Stringer is indeed a s**t!

Up until the weekend everyone would agree they were doing a good job. They've put a lot of money into the club and didn't panic when they missed out in the play offs so they seem to know what they are doing. I've not heard any complaints at all to be fair. From what I have heard about Sunday evening, it seems the owner was ready to go ahead with it, even calling Pearson and his staff in for the meeting in the afternoon but was then talked down by his son somewhere between him making the initial decision and the actual meeting taking place. And as for Saturday, it's more Pearson's reaction than anything else. The crazy almost demonic smile on his face and the fact that upon closer inspection he didn't actually say a word to McArthur. He put his hand around the player's neck then held onto his shirt and the whole time just looked at him with this weird smile. Then there is the post match comments about being able to look after himself, everyone is just a bit bemused as to what he was trying to do. Credit to James McArthur though for not making a bigger deal out of the incident. A fact which I believe has lead to Pearson escaping any kind of punishment for it.
