The extra 15-25,000 will not appear until the later rounds when they will face the prospect of watching a team that has won some matches against one of the better English sides in a knock-out competition that - for me, at least, still has some glamour associated with it - in a stadium that will have a decent atmosphere and where, even if we lose, it will probably have seemed like a good day out and value for the considerable outlay involved. And you are surprised all those won't all turn out to watch the current side play Watford and their defensive, play on the break, long ball tactics in a bottom-of-the-table fixture? Get real, it's annoying but it has always been so, and is the same for any club reaching the later rounds of the FA cup.

and well sung. (not a misprint!)

Mick Channon, Bobby Stokes etc., etc. are ex-skates.

M A S E R A T I by the way. I always thought 'quattroporte' sounded so exotic as a kid - imagined huge chrome intakes to four carburettors or some such. So disappointed when I found out it just meant '4 doors'!

It's economics - the laws of supply and demand; price raised, fewer seats sold but income remains the same. Rupert does not like football fans so he raises the price until he gets the fewest supporters but has just enough money to finance his dream of total football. I thought there was a flaw in this arguement in that total football would bring the crowds back, but I have to admit (though it hurts to say so) that Rupert's scheme to keep football fans away from his stadium appears to be working.

Paul Tisdale is player/manager at Exeter City and Steve Basham is also a player - could they have lured him down there to perhaps get involved in some coaching?

But surely Dyer was hardly overflowing with tallent!

Certainly - profuse apologies to 1976_child for any implication you might not have made it to the match. And, having myself fallen asleep at the wheel and written off a car, well done for realising you were a danger to others and forking out for a night's kip. Even with expensive hindsight I would probably still have battled on - will I ever grow up? Probably not, I think it's too late now.

Were YOU there, sir? A. When you left you seemed to think the game was in Rotherham. B. How did you get the 228 miles back home to post when you did? Don't tell me you DID go to Rotherham and then slunk back to Brighton without seeing the game!
-
It was amusing but hardly laugh-out-loud-funny. Avoid Ken Dodd as he'll presumably cause you a heart attack.
-
Anyone in or around Brighton want a lift to Rotherham..

Sounds like you don't know the match is actually being played in Sheffield - at the Don Valley Stadium! -
And whether or not Sturrock should have been sacked is irelevant to this arguement. He was sacked 'soon' - and did that solve the problem? Frankly, I don't think so, but there have been so many and frequent changes that I have lost track of what happened next. Surely there is a clue there.

If you only heard an eighth of 5live's commentary, how can you assess balance? I tuned in when Holmes was lying injured (23mins.) and heard most of the remainder (but not any half-time comment). SC had only praise and sympathy for Saints and, in fact, I have always found that he speaks well of the club and his knowledge and experience of the game makes him interesting to hear. Certainly better than having David Pleat droning away, even though his tactical talk has a certain academic interest. -
Before the final I said Bobby was the one player I'd rather not see in the team, but he had a good final with several other chances before he scored so that I said 'if he scores, I will personally write to him and apologise'. He did, but I didn't. If you're reading this, Bobby - sorry, and thanks!

Absolute ******** - you are allowing your anti-skate attitude to cloud your judgement. I heard most of the commentary and he was continually complimenting us, saying that, surprisingly, we were playing the better football (very surprisingly considering QPR scored 4 times as many goals as us!) and that the scoreline did not reflect the game. He suggested the sending-off was harsh and said the off-side goal was diabolical, saying how could officials expect respect when they make such blatant ly obvious incorrect decisions. How can you possibly accuse him of 'hammering' us? -
The nicknames of last season's squad - fit the name to the player. Titsy was obviously Hammill, but who on earth was Busy?
-
Jan, how long has he got? (not looking for an arguement)
Victor replied to Thorpe-le-Saint's topic in The Saints
If only you were a fan - then I wouldn't have to listen to you! If JP is sacked there is a likely-looking young manager just taken his team to the top of League 1 that Roops might want to consider. -
KK has been mucked about by Ashley - would you accept a job as manager and then be happy when Dennis Wise is appointed to decide what players you will have in your team? Only surprise is he lasted this long - good luck Kevin, and screw them for every penny you can. Newcastle will be at St Mary's next season even if KK isn't. Guess Shearer's phone is ringing - he'll be a fool to go tho'.
-
Come off it - you obviously know sweet FA. Beattie the greatest? Doesn't figure in the top 20 I'm afraid. Using your vast knowledge, put forward an arguement as to why he is better than, say, Martin Chivers for example.
-
If you mean Alan McLoughlin, he was neither a cheat nor rubbish. He was played out of position and not really given a chance to prove himself He did prove a good player - though not a great one - elsewhere, and internationally.
-
Absolutely diabolical including Paul Rideout in a list of 'cheaters'! 19 league goals in 68 starts isn't bad and he looked good in a forward line that included Rod Wallace, MLT and Shearer. He often got hurt going in where most wouldn't. That tosser Branfoot sold him cheaply and can't blame Rideout for being ****ed off - it was the second time Saints had said 'no thanks' to him having let him go at 16 - probably why some years later, aged 37, he scored a hat-trick against us in a cup match. Shame on you!
-
Mid-table mediocrity. Give me the excitement of a relegation battle any day.

OS says he won a 'host' of player-of-the-year awards at S****horpe - obviously old for his years!
