  1. Isn't going for 2 in a row exciting enough?
  2. Chris Coleman?
  3. Not always - Spurs sacked Glenda just AFTER we beat them, and, going back a bit farther, Man U sacked Big Ron just AFTER we beat them.
  4. I believe it does in Lincolnshire.
  5. Of course we had to move, but there were elements of the Dell that we should, and could, have replicated. Lowe acknowledged this, and said that they WERE going to be taken into account. They weren't (God, to think I actually believed what Rupert said in those days!). We should be closer to the pitch, the rake should be steeper etc.. No chance now of the old lady who stood near the corner so that she could talk to Nick Holmes when he took a corner having a word with the corner-taker (would almost certainly help), or of one of the players getting the result of the 3.30 from one of the crowd. It may not be the biggest factor in our slump, but it is contributory and was another opportunity lost.
  6. Andrex might be more appropriate.
  7. Yeah, and we could rename DMcG - Mick Channon, say. Might work.
  8. But it's you who have got it all wrong. Are you not familiar with the FA rules regarding the signing/playing of players? Rule 1.1 Manchester United may sign any player they wish, of any ability, from any tin-pot country and without their having played for that tin-pot country. Rule 27.1 Southampton may not play any player, even from a member country of the European Union, regardless of the number of times they have represented that country, and regardless of whether or not the player is already registered with the club, without the express approval of the FA and Sir Alex Ferguson.
  9. That bloke from Manchester City - Michael somebody.
  10. That's why I used me 'ead!
  11. Head says David Armstrong, heart says Nick Holmes.
  12. Sling out people singing this or ManU fans behaving themselves? Not a difficult decision. Whatever happened to friendly banter with fellow football supporters? Seasons greetings from Dreamland.
  13. Having a go at the "plastic" fans is pathetic. We're not all juveniles with no family responsibilities and with nothing to spend our pocket money on except booze and footie. Some of us live miles from Southampton, many have to provide rent-free homes for you kids, have other interests in life, have elderly or sick relations to visit/look after, have jobs to do. I had a ticket for the Forest game but couldn't use it as I was too ill. Of course people will make a special effort to see MU, but most are hoping to see Saints beat them (however unlikely) - they are not going just to SEE MU. If you have to pick and chose your games you will obviously pick those that will give you a lift. Given how I felt, I'm bloody glad I DIDN'T go on Saturday. I would still like to go to every game for the rest of the season, but I can't. And I haven't got a ticket for the MU game, incidentally. I am disappointed by the attendances for recent league games, but grow up, and use your imaginations.
  14. But do you not think it likely that the young first team centre-back discusses things with his team mates? Lowe may want them sold, but contractually they are allowed an opinion on their own futures.
  15. For Sky to claim Stoke are "in" for S & L, doesn't that mean they have made some sort of offer, and doesn't that make Stoke in breach of some rule for unsettling players outside the transfer window? Or does it just mean it's part of the typical Sky/Sun scatter-gun approach of linking players with 75% of all the other clubs so that they can then claim "you heard it here first" (which, of course, you didn't anyway)?
  16. Yeah, like Bale said 'I really, really, really want to play left back, and if you won't let me play there I'm going back to Mum'. He was an OK LB, certainly a better LB than any we have at present, and he was/is a very, very good player. Which is what the question kinda asked. And it seems to me he pays absolutely no attention whatsoever to his hairstyle - but maybe it looks very modern in NZ.

    Robertson

Surely the point of a loan player is to play them. Why have we had so many loanees over the last couple of seasons who very rarely made the bench? At least Robertson is fit enough to play - we should all rejoice.
  19. I expected that by Christmas the manager would know his best side. I knew nothing of the abilities of P & W and very few of the players so was merely hoping rather than expecting as regards the performance of the team. It was clear from the decisions of RL during the summer that it would be a continuing saga of meddling by non-footballing staff and a lack of stability throughout the club. I expected this to be reflected on the pitch. I expected Charlton, Watford and Forest to be marginally better than they are so I suppose I should be pleased we are not second from bottom. I am not.

    Re-incarnation

    A Cling-on.
  21. Fear not, the good Brown Knight, Sir Gordon, has promised the fair St. Mary that he will defend her castle from the clutches of the Black Knight, Sir Dastardly de Berkeley, for the next 2 years.
  22. But do that many Neopolitans speak Spanish?
  23. "Some Saints players and coaches are also extremely concerned by increased involvement in team matters by some of the club’s directors." Surely this is just as worrying. I thought we were supposed to be surviving by using a bunch of youngsters and coaches who were all singing from the same hymn sheet and super-keen to put Rupert's visionary plan into action. "some coaches" - how many have we got? Does it mean all coaches except Poortvliet and Wotte, or does it include one, or both, of them? So in January we sell the best players, lose some loanees (a few of which we obviously need to) and are left with the bones of a squad who are unhappy, a team that hasn't played together consistently, a lack of positive leadership and direction etc., etc.. Let's hope this son-of-Pulis is the next Paul Scholes.
  24. How is this Saints related - it's a harvest festival, not a saint's day?
