Young manager, 'legend' as player at a club he then, as manger, saves from demotion from the football league despite a 17 point deduction and with a squad of only about 15 (including schoolboys). He then takes basically the same squad to promotion and despite loss of top scorer then takes it to second place in the higher league. Offered a job at a bigger club he decides to stay loyal and try and finish the job by getting a second successive promotion. "a great big nothing"? You tosser!

I am quite happy to forgive one silly comment about one particular chant from a bloke who brings a lot of enjoyment to the game and encouragement to the smaller clubs. He was generally very complimentary about us and said we had some exciting players. The game at the top level has become pretty petty and tedious - Man U again won today by cheating and the football in that game was pretty dire despite all the money they've spent. More and more clubs falling into foreign ownership with who has the most money generally being the deciding factor in who wins. How about a bit of forgiveness and gratitude for someone who's done extremely well with very limited resources and ensured that the game retains it's fascination.

Well, I was also at the game but I go along with PaulGilchrist_76. I left the ground very disappointed that we made no attempt to win the game to take the league title. So far this season it has been: Manager sacked after handful of games without credible explanation. Key staff sacked without credible explanation. Owner dies putting a question mark against the future of the club. Woeful results under caretaker manager. Loads of spin from the Chief Executive. Top scorer in League last season can't score at all this season. Second member of strike force on bail pending GBH charge. Losing at home to the mighty Brentford et al.. Club at loggerheads with the media, mainly over plausible rumours. My expectations for the rest of the season? More of the same.

I think if you study the records you'll find that the reason you cannot vote for Shearer or Wright is that neither made an appearance for Saints in the Premiership since Shearer left just before the Prem started and Wright left a whole 5 years before it started. And, anyway, a web site that uses the words "had to of made one appearance" clearly does not know a lot.

Can't believe we haven't changed our manager recently. Our cadence of managerial change is slowing. If we don'y hurry up and get rid we will miss out on the play-off places for the most managers in the last 10 years.

I hate it when people say he was underrated. He certainly was not by Saints fans who saw him play. If he was underrated by managers of other teams then great, I'm forever grateful that they did underrate him.
