If a player shows better form after 6 months in a new team and environment than they did on arrival it does not prove those who were initially unimpressed with him "wrong". It simply means that initially they were unimpressive. HTH

You disappoint me, David. You are usually one of the more reasonable and interesting posters but I think you need a little more humility and circumspection than you express about the future. I do have some sympathy for PFC despite the fact that I do get huge pleasure when I see FD's once smug viseage on telly these days and his struggle not to burst into tears when mentioning his beloved club. A football club is such an important part of a community's culture and history that it is sad to see so many of them becoming the playthings of people who have no connection whatsoever with that community. It was probably never just a question of sport and the current state of the game is a huge subject with so many aspects that I regret. We went through several years when we were, frankly, laughing stock and so very nearly fell into the hands of a Walter Mitty. A lot of innocent people - and the Treasury - lost a lot of money as a result of what happened to our club. It is, frankly, hypocritical for any Saints fan to refer to PFC as cheats. We have found ourselves in a very fortunate position due in no part whatsoever to the fans. Be thankful, keep your heads down and fear for the long-term future.

Well, you had a week's warning the snow was coming - did you pop out and get winter tyres fitted to your car? The reason why the roads are a problem when it snows is because so many people who haven't got a clue how to drive in snow (because it is actually a comparatively rare occurrence in this country) think they can carry on as usual, get into trouble and then try and make out it's someone else's fault. You were warned - go prepared to spend the night in Birmingham or wrapped up in the car - or take the train. Too many people think they are being heroic carrying on because that's what the British do. Fine, but don't blame someone else when you get stuck.

"if the game gets really bad"?? I don't think so, but it would be a terrible rule if he could - Hansen and Lawrenson droning on for hours discussing whether it was or was not actually bad enough to call it off. And we would still be trying to complete our fixtures for the Branfoot seasons.

........... and you should know all about playing second string to Villa.

Is that any worse than setting fire to people or cutting their heads off or stretching them until they fall apart because they are Roman Catholic? -
Pompey should have gone for the cheaper option - pilchards.

Better get Matt Oakley in on a month's contract. Is he still on loan at Exeter?

I'll say it again. We will not finish in the top 2!

Dear Professor, What exactly is your field of expertise? It is clearly not logic as I was simply picking up Alpine on his claim that we could fall out of the top 2 this weekend. How is that "head in sand"? Neither can it be mathematics; the only Championship teams playing this weekend are Peterborough, Portsmouth, Reading and Bristol City. The highest placed of these, Reading, has 42 points. We have 50. I think you should change your sobriquet/pseudonym. May I suggest 'Dunce'? -

Tell me which of the 4 Championship teams playing this weekend will replace us? Bet you can't, tosser. -
I'm open to being educated too. What on earth does "doesn't even hardly glance" mean?

He liked flowers and ****ged princess Margaret.

This has to be a joke, although I don't get it. He played in almost every game in our most successful ever team until he misbehaved and was shown the door. Didn't score many but was an exciting and key player.

Saints players with Surnames that are also Christian names.

No. We have done well because we have used so few players who therefore know how each other play and who are our best players - more games with Bart and the like would have meant fewer points.
-
So what you are saying is: when we change the team it all goes pear-shaped, therefore we should do it more often?
-
Aah! Now I realise Lawrenson does have a purpose - it's to make Hansen look worth his £1.5million. But surely they can find someone other than Lawrenson who doesn't actually look as tired of his own pathetic attempts at humour (and non-existent analysis) as I am.

So is your spelling. You're not allowed to make errors of spelling on this site - get off.

I'm sure Clarkson could come up with something.

A lung?! What did he do, slap him round the face with it?

Blimey, Chappers as well! I hadn't heard. Tragic.
-
Hardly. Rather than dwelling on the awful penalty decision they generally seem to accept that their discipline needs sorting out.

Not quite that simple - depended on how many Brighton scored as well. I was at the game and at the very least was disappointed Saints didn't go for winning the league, specially when rumour went round that Bolton were losing. Still convinced it WAS a mutual agreement.
