  1. Big Welsh colony there too. Looks like Wales missed an opportunity with Messi.
  2. The BBC think he is a Spaniard. Has he acquired Spanish nationality?
  3. So are you saying it is NOT right-leaning? I think you have just lost all credibility.
  4. "Your favourite player to have made absolutely no impact (good or bad) on Saints..." Still trying to work this out - if he made absolutely no impact, how could it have been either good or bad?
  5. There's an echo in this thread. (see post 734)
  6. Well I would pay to watch the ensuing discussion when di Canio substitutes him when he's on a hat-trick.
  7. Oh my God, how much simpler do I have to make my point before you are able to comprehend it? One last try: fact = fact 99% fact = not a fact 100% fact = abuse of the English language
  8. So what is 99%fact? Is it a fact or is it not a fact? When does the percentage drop so low that a fact is no longer a fact - is a 49% fact a fact? I think we should be told (but only if you know your facts).
  9. "absolutely 100%" is redundant; if you really need to stress what you are say 'absolutely' or '100%' would suffice but I would be happy with just 'That is not true'. Similarly, "as it is at this moment in time" is redundant. The more people use phrases such as these the less likely I am to believe a word they are saying.
  10. It would be nice to hear that he is pleased with progress, with what NA and the team achieved and how the club - sorry, 'business' - intends to approach the new challenge. It's called involving the fans (even if it doesn't literally mean that). Otherwise any semblance that it is in someway 'our club' will evaporate totally and so will interest. It would be nice to hear that he has some plan for the future and that reaching the PL is not the completion of his remit and that his silence is not down to the fact that he is too busy sounding out prospective purchasers. Is he interested? I don't know and, yes, of course I should care whether he is or not.
  11. Stop this obsession with Portsmouth. There but for the grace of God, or rather, Markus. Otherwise it's not Saints related.
  12. I think that's a very good point but still reckon we should go all out to get him because I am equally sure he would give everything while he was here. Remember seeing an interview with a young Ince at West Ham (think he was still a YTS recruit at the time) and was extremely disappointed by the attitude that came across - didn't seem to be bothered whether he made it or not. However, everything I saw subsequently seemed to show exactly the opposite - one of those players you hated but wished you had in your side. However, Thomas already looks a very mature player, looks hungry, is quick and IMO is just the player we need, would fit in straight away and would complement and enhance the style we've been playing. If we are in danger of only keeping him for a year it's only the situation we will face with any other player of his quality.
  13. I have a vivid memory that combines a Spitfire and Saints: watching E&D Minor League cup finals at Stoneham in '78. Tony Funnell presented the cups and Chris Nicholl was there just watching. During the matches a Spitfire was flying round & round, no idea why - presumably these guys have to practise their displays somewhere and we were just lucky. Incidentally, couldn't resist the opportunity to rib Chris about his scoring all 4 goals in a 2-2 draw when playing for Villa.
  14. But they weren't at a party, they were at a wake. And it's "**** of their selves".
  15. There is a difference between 'Best Player' and 'Player of the Season'. If someone less than the best puts in a shift beyond what was expected of him I reckon that can deserve a vote. The 'best player' may get himself stupidly sent off a cost his team vital points by being unavailable - would he still deserve 'Player of the Season'? Scoring more goals than anyone else is a fantastic achievement but it's also a very high profile and specific statistic but not one a goalkeeper is ever going to be chalking up. Would we be where we are without Hooiveld? Almost certainly not, therefore worthy of a vote. Anyway, congratulations to Rickie, I consider you a great player and worthy winner. (note for Alpine before he accuses me of being a Rickie-hater)
  16. Dear Dune, On the contrary, it has been proven that were I to keep the prices for these privileged customers at their current level they will find another club to support, most likely one in a foreign league - such as the League of Wales - where prices are so much lower. I have therefore decided to reduce the price (by lowering the booking tax) of tickets for the Kingsland and Itchen stands to avoid a double-dip in our attendances.
  17. And what do you call it when Germans admit they may have been a little harsh on the Jews, Poles, gypsies and gays? And I wasn't simply referring to the Empire. And it wasn't the Nazis who invented slave labour that saw millions die because they were treated worse than animals. And you can throw in what we have done to our own people such as setting them alight because of their religious beliefs, political allegiances, because they are poor and have no power and can therefore be made to put on a uniform and 'win' us land or oil or whatever makes a few rich, or defend what has already been stolen etc. etc.. You have a totally inadequate knowledge of this country's history, recent or less recent, or awareness of what is still happening so your comments are valueless and your pity not wanted. My last post.
  18. My only contribution to this thread is to correct your appalling knowledge of the English language. You cannot claim any credibility in you arguments if you say you believe this to mean I am taking sides. I am unable to take part in any meaningful way in your argument regarding the attractiveness, or otherwise, of the Nazis or their record on human rights as I am restricted to 3 posts. I would suggest, however, that in any competition involving atrocities meted on the peoples of other nations this country would certainly make the play-offs, and probably the play-off finals if not automatic promotion. Is this view siding with Tory boy?
  19. To lie: verb, intransitive To lay: verb, transitive tw*t
  20. You never know, he may punch above his weight in the Prem.
  21. Christ! What an utter div. I hope you corrected him and told it's "would HAVE" and not "would of".
  22. Brighton missed out on play-offs.
  23. # Don't forget there will be at least 6mins Fergie time.
