This has been one of the most level-headed and thoughtful threads on this forum and there seems to be a surprising amount of consensus; agreement that NC has got it pretty well spot on as far as taking the club forward is concerned but reservation about the way it has been done and the people and others he has upset on the way. It reinforces the feeling that he is here for the long haul but there is a nasty feeling that he has the ethics of a Lance Armstrong. To his credit he does not seem to seek so much limelight or to claim the credit but just gets on with his ruthless vision. This can be admired but is so different from what we have been used to. It's taking time to adjust to this new way but I guess most of us will; it's just going to take us older ones a bit longer than those younger. We will probably be able to boast about our 'club' on an a near-equal basis with the 'top 5' but we will not be able to do it with pride and only our memories of the good old days as an underdog.

A man who scores 999 goals in 1 game for Espanyol can hardly be described as a 'nobody'! (source - Wikipedia)

Huge thanks. You can be very proud of what you have done for Saints. I suspect you will be managing a Premiership club next season and that you will not have to face Saints - downhill for us now, I suspect. I am disgusted with Saints and look forward to its sale or change of control to a more decent regime.

Huge apologies, I misread your post (and can't edit). Doh!

No. It means you have two teams that you like equally after the one that you like most. HTH

Pensioners!? Clearly you know nothing whatsoever about them and their recent history. Schoolboys would be more appropriate.

Loaning him back to his original club and then to his present club, Feyenoord, does not constitute "often". Even if you include Burnley as "abroad".

I have read this several times and I still can't work out how many I am supposed to be bemoaning.

Taggart? What about Targett - would we have room for him as well?

They didn't change the rule but they may have changed the advice to referees on how to interpret it. HTH And I think you mean the benefit of the doubt goes with the attacking team. And to say you see why the linesman gave it because R was in an 'offside position' when the ball was travelling to him is nonsense, or at least irrelevant. Many good goals are scored and correctly allowed to stand when the scorer has received the ball 'in an offside position'; he knows the rule, it was close but he got the decision wrong. End of.

How many tactical mistakes is Adkins allowed? (Part 2)
Victor replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
For Christ's sake! Are you too thick to see the point I was making. I was saying exactly that - that going for someone like Saggy Chops would be pointless because he would not be able to make a silk purse from a sow's ear. We are stuck with the players we have. Hoovield has been a disappointment (but may improve) and Nigel is fully aware of our shortcomings; we do not know to what extent it is his fault this was not sorted in the summer. If Saggy Chops COULD make a silk purse from a sow's ear, surely he would have started with himself. -

Saggy Chops - because he will turn Fox into a world-class left back, just like he did Gareth Bale. -
Dennis Rofe had his funny ways but perhaps trying to deck Phil Thompson is irresistible rather than eccentric.

Trench coat or black leather jacket more likely.

A condition of this type attached to a planning approval would apply to the use of the stadium for football regardless of who is the owner of the club, organiser of the match etc.. The club appears to have applied for a relaxation of the condition and this was granted on a temporary, conditional basis.

Call me a pedant but that should be "he'd have been" and not "he'd of been".

Surely we should be going all out to sign Tissone.

Who is the best SFC player you saw as a youngster
Victor replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
No. The poster who posed the question should have phrased it so that it was not ambiguous. I read it 'properly' and thought it meant when I was a youngster. Unfortunately I can't remember that far back! -
Bolonga, him want heap plenty Euros
-
Ian Branfoot was a winner so grudgingly deserves a mention.

To quote the Editor of the Wall Street Journal: 'If I read upcoming in TWSJ again I shall be downcoming and somebody will be outgoing'. A nasty, nasty word; 'coming' is quite adequate and quicker to type. HTH

Which Ex-Saints Centre Half would best fit into the current team?
Victor replied to PaulGilchrist_76's topic in The Saints
Is that the Chris Nicholls who was a friend of Kelvin Davies?
