  1. Well it was at Celtic that his career really took off (apparently). And he needed all those column inches to tell us "graciously" (what!!!?) about how he nearly died from peritonitis caused by eating too much (really?) although he didn't really want to tell us about that but the interviewer forced it out of him, so there wasn't room to tell how Southampton brought him to the Premier League and the attention of the many rather than the ginger few.
  2. Victor

    Toomer

    RIP Toomer.
  3. It's got Trotters Independent Traders written all over it.
  4. This is not 'mawkish nonsense' and is very different from the outpouring of "grief" for such as Diana. I couldn't understand that and am against minute's silences/applause at football matches for anyone other than someone closely associated with that (or the visiting) club. However, this is a very different situation. Very few of us had even heard of Sala but it is a very sad human story - and a 'football' story; the unnecessary nature of it, the fact he delayed so he could say goodbye to his team mates, the ending of the expectations of the Cardiff fans, Sala's frightening experience and lonely death are all surely things that we can relate to and be affected by. I certainly was.
  5. and David McGoldrick's knocking in his share.
  6. I'm sure there's still an open-top Southampton Corporation Guy Arab kicking around as per 1976.
  7. For goodness sake - why don't you write and ask for your money back (if you actually put anything in the bucket)? And when you get it back just shut up.
  8. Those of us over a certain age are well aware of Wimbledon's history and that although they are not the same club there is a connection between the old and the new. Like every club the old had its good points (small club punching above its weight, the fact that you could go for a pee at Plough Lane and still watch the game from the windows of the Portakabin loo, grievously upsetting Liverpool - hooray!) and its bad points (Fashanu's elbows, Jones's grip, Wise's niggles and punches) but this discussion started because the OP abused a reporter who was CORRECT and not the "ignorant tw*t" that he called him.
  9. What do you mean "proper supporters"? The Wimbledon that won the cup became MK Dons; AFC Wimbledon is not the Wimbledon that won the cup even if many of the original supporters now support AFC Wimbledon. You will not find any reference to an FA cup win in any record of AFC Wimbledon because it is not the same club. Manchester City and Manchester Untd are not the same club just because they have "Manchester" in their title.
  10. Yes, but Paul Rideout doesn't play for Accrington.
  11. But it IS the first time they have made the 4th round!! Ignorant twt.
  12. .... actually went one ahead of RL tapping in a cross from David McGoldrick who scored 43 goals for us one season I seem to recall (no, not the first team - obviously).
  13. Not yet ......... 2-2
  14. "Absolutely"? Brave - and stupid - to go for "absolutely"
  15. I don't think 'quiet' is a particularly good characteristic for a footballer.
  16. Abslutely none. Why on earth did you even bother?
  17. Funny, most authorities think German for rabbit hutch is 'Kaninchenstall'.
  18. No, still can't work out what the missing letters are.
  19. Agree except I would have David Armstrong instead of Wright - great defensively and good for 10 goals a season. The opposition would be under so much pressure they'd not test our defence a huge amount.
  20. I'd have brought Jack Wilshere on much earlier.
  21. No, she's an actress.
  22. Was it a West Brom miracle that sent us down last time?
  23. The FA have charged Alonso - presumably Chelsea appeal and he plays in the semi - is that how it works (not thread related I know, but just seen it)?
