I think its because he shows loads of potential but is hot and cold, some games plays a stonker, others he's just not in the game. The goal he scored against Reading last season was top class IMO, he's still only 25 and it was his 1st PL season last time out, give the boy time.

From Winchester but moved up North over 12 years ago to study, never moved back, always supported saints, get to some of the games up hear and try catch a couple of games home also.

Agreed, don't think we needed as many as Sunderland have gone and got but another defender and defo a striker for me would be ideal, just can't rely on SRL up there, a year older and all that.

Point taken bud, just think he would be more likely to come to us then someone like Benega or the others we've been linked with.

Maybe hes sick of being on the Bench for a whole season, Id take a punt on him for £30K odd a week and £5 m transfer fee.

Im not saying that we don't have a good enough squad to stay up again, I think we do but if we really are serious about improving then I hope we all agree we need at least a couple of players in, a goal scorer being one. I have said its a good thing that we have signed Lovren to add some steel at the back and hopefully cut out a few going in at the wrong end and there's still quite alot of time left in the window but seeing as we have all the extra cash from the new TV deal IMO we should be looking at a couple of foward players to get us another 10 - 15 goals a season so we dont have a finish like last time out. I would much prefer us to of got a free Darren Bent in for a season on a lowish wage then no one.

Fire and re hire

Not trying to sound negative as we've signed a CB already but it does seem like we aren't able to bring in any of the top targets we're linked with. With only 6 or so weeks left (still quite a long time I know) until the start of the new season can't help thinking we should be aiming a tad lower to actually get players in and get them in the squad / training ?

I think Fox for his service but that's in the past, I'm not sure i would agree with you that he is average at PL level. I'm not a hater of Fox as he did ok for us in the lower leagues but his positioning is very poor and gets himself and others into all sorts of trouble at PL level. All I'm saying is that if we are serious about pushing on we don't want to be bringing on Fox at LB is all. Teams are spending and getting better so this season will be tougher than last IMO. If he's not part of our long term plans its better for him to be finding a new club.

Not sure if this has been covered already but it seems to me that MP is keeping hold of Fox as back up for Shaw. Can't see why he would as we are wanting to push on, the thought of him coming on and playing again next seasson when Shaw is knackered is not a pleasant one ! Surely he will strengthen and tell Fox he can find another club ?
