  1. The Guardian's view of Saints new season prospects. https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2016/aug/09/premier-league-2016-17-preview-southampton-claude-puel I think there is enough in it for all views (rabid optimist to bedwetter) to find something to agree or disagree with.....
  2. Yes went last year, stayed in Kigali before and after doing the Gorilla trek thing. No issues that I could see. What do you want to know?
  3. So you are arguing that farmers should keep less cows as well?
  4. I think the regular attendance thread is critically important. A relatively quick read to get a reminder as to who the trolls are, making it easy to ignore/laugh at their views on other, more interesting, threads.
  5. Oh we've run out of arguments against the supposed doomsday loan so we'll go off topic to keep the negativity going - am trying to guess if we'll end up bemoaning the lack of summer transfers or trying to predict when NC will chop Adkins.
  6. some? I would have thought many based on this thread by the amount of speculation (fiction) has been spun from one fact (reality).
  7. Current Job: Chief Executive Desired Job: First Team Manager tbh not sure I really want my dream job, I mean I already pick the team, formation and tactics. I don't mind meeting the players occasionally, but every day? Not sure. Plus you get a much better view of the game from the stands, and you don't have to deal with lizards from the media afters.
  8. Yes, that's it; NA should amend his instructions to score two goals and keep a clean sheet for home games, and get a draw for away games. There, sorted. btw SHOUTING doesn't make your point more "relevant" or "factual"
  9. No, seriously, what would you suggest?
  10. So in your view the only game with no tactical mistakes was Villa where we 0-1 down at half time and Bent & Benteke both had chances to make it 0-2 early in the second half? It is more than just tactics that win & lose games. To go 1-0 up at Everton was a pretty good start, especially 'with the wrong formation'. So did we lose the game because of the wrong tactics; the players not carrying out the planned tactics, or perhaps Everton, having had a great start to the season, just played really well at home. You hope you are wrong. Good news; you are.
  11. Bit early to start posting about attendance - you'll wake The Kraken!
  12. Typical Echo exaggeration, there are only three!
  13. I prefer unsliced, always have.
  14. Thought Rodriguez looked isolated at times, with poorservice to him for much of the game, we didn't boss the midfield and I couldn'twork out where Guly was meant to be playing. To be fair Wednesday lookedaverage at best, and that it wouldn't take much to beat them (and it didn't). Seabourne looked up for it, constantly making himselfavailable, and doing runs beyond De Ridder a few times to help open the defenceup. In the programme Kelvin gave his assurance that his'commitment to this club remains as strong as ever and whether I'm in the teamor on the bench, I will be available for selection and eager to play my partfor as long as needed. My duty as Club Captain is to help the club in any waypossible and my determination to fulfill the role continues even though thereis strong competition for places in the team.' Adkins talked a bit about Gazza in his column and how 'fantastic' Kelvin has been on pitch and in the dressing room and then said 'I hold Kelvin in the highest esteem for what he has done for Southampton'.
  15. Mesmerising clip, thx for posting. Not sure that many defences will cope with him when he plays like he did second half Saturday, particularly if he strikes up a good understanding with Gaston -hopefully the link up play for Clyne's goal is just a taster (also in the clip Gaston runs into the space on the left created by the defence being sucked in by SRL, though he doesn't look too upset that SRL took it on & didn't backheel to him!). SRL's ability when on the flanks (Vlaar dazed & confused for JP's goal) or when dropping deep (to dink the through ball in for Mayuka) makes him very difficult to mark. Agree with Frank's cousin; would swop for RVP but not any other PL forward.
  16. At last! A rationale explanation for our first four results. Let's hope no one is offering Villa a win bonus too.
  17. Agreed. I was responding to adriansfc comment 'Benali would be rubbish now, but let's not forget, Benali was rubbish then'. Omitted to Reply with Quote.
  18. Benali had many FFS moments and struck fear into the heart of seasoned supporters whenever he ventured forward with the ball at his feet. However he made 389 first-team appearances; so he wasn't that rubbish else one of the many contenders for the position would have been displaced him. He deserves more respect. Mmmm a left back, thought by many to be not good enough, who has scored only one goal for the club................
  19. Typo should have read: Adkins has the support of the bored Bored of reading posts slagging him off............
  20. At the time it was announced I thought it was because Adam was the only player likely to be on the team sheet for the whole season! At that time the defence was either under question (more signings mooted) or unproven, in midfield and attack there is competition for places plus a likelihood of tactical team rotation. Morgan was the only other likely candidate under this criteria. Still think Adam is a good choice though.
  21. Try this website: http://www.espares.co.uk/ They have info videos which can help you fix the appliance.
  22. In 1983-84 we had our best ever season finishing second in Division 1 (that was what thePremier League was called before decimalisation). The following season our results werelost-draw-lost-lost-draw-win-draw-draw; just seven points from our first eightgames. What would the bedwetters have made of that? The manager wasn't sacked and we finished in 5th place (whichshould have been European qualification but this was the first year of the banpost Heysel). As others have said, judge our performance after tengames.
  23. Darius Vassell got 22 caps; so not sure about even effort and running about being the criteria
  24. The evidence of a senior ambulance officer at the time makes no mention of a police corden impeding ambulances, but does raise issues of access into the ground itself as a problem. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19571415 read under heading Senior ambulance officer criticised access for ambulances the PDF attached called Letter with criticisms deleted. The vehicular access at the Dell was dire too, and I now undertsand why SMS has two large access tunnels.
